The Killers just transported us back to 2004 with Mr. Brightside in the Live Lounge

Smile Like You Mean It because today is a day that's sure to go down in Live Lounge history: THE KILLERS ARE HERE!
You're always a little bit reluctant to play songs that people haven't heard yetThe Killers
You can tell we're excited, right? Cool.
Fresh from taking to the stage for a surprise show at Brixton Academy - the beginning of the band's new album tour - Brandon and Ronnie chatted to Clara and dished on what its like to perform at such an iconic venue...
"We've played a lot of gigs there and it's just a historical place, so it's always fun.
"We played a song called The Calling for the first time. You're always a little bit reluctant to play songs that people haven't heard yet, they're not familiar with, but we got about 9 days until the record comes out - September 22nd! - then you can get yourself familiar with the songs, then when we play them live it's a little easier."
How did they prep for their return gig? Quite unusually, actually...

Short answer: with Woody Harrelson.
Long answer: we'll let the guys elaborate...
"He's our friend. He happened to be there yesterday and sort of prompted us to play a new song, so it seemed to make a lot of sense [to do The Calling]. On the record he actually recites some of Matthew from the King James version of the Bible and he has it memorised and he gave us all a little sermon last night. It worked out. We were spiritually fed by Woody Harrelson."
With Woody Harrelson dropping verses (of sorts) on their tracks, is there anything The Killers haven't done? Oh, that's right: the 2017 Live Lounge. Well, without further ado...
We got news for you, baby, you're watching The Killers perform The Man
Let's all take a moment for Brandon's voice and exceptional quiff.
Right, now back to business. The band decided to seamlessly transition from The Man to *drum roll, plz!* David Bowie's Fame, remarking that The Man is actually a bit inspired by Fame...
Watch The Killers cover David Bowie's Fame
Bowie's been a big inspiration for many of the stars who have taken over the Live Lounge, including Thirty Seconds To Mars who performed a magical medley for their cover, incorporating tracks by Bowie, Prince, Linkin Park and George Michael.
There's definitely a nod to David Bowie's Fame in our single, The ManThe Killers
"There's definitely a nod to David Bowie's Fame in our single, The Man, and we thought it was appropriate to do that one," Brandon told Clara.
"We went through a couple of ideas but they got shut down, so we ended up on Fame. We wanted to do Moonage Daydream but maybe it was a little too obscure. But anyway, it worked out and we transitioned from The Man to Fame. It's fun for us and we hope it's fun for everyone else."
It was, guys. Truly. And it seems like everyone else agrees...
Their classic track? Mr. Brightside, of course!
Fun fact: since its release in 2004 (which is, lest we remind you, THIRTEEN YEARS AGO! How did that happen?!), there hasn't been a single year in which Mr. Brightside hasn't charted in the UK Top 100. This January alone it charted at No.49, meaning that, over a decade since it first graced our airwaves, Mr. Brightside was in the TOP FIFTY!
We'll give you time to process that mind-blowing fact.
You'll be hard-pressed to find a person who hasn't torn up the dance floor upon hearing Brandon utter that seminal line: 'COMING OUT OF MY CAGE AND I'VE BEEN DOING JUST FINE', so it's no surprise that the guys opted for Mr. Brightside - the gift of a song that keeps on giving - for their classic track.
From Fresher's Week to weddings, the tale of a scorned lover who realises they're being cheated on dominates the speakers. The most unusual place The Killers have known it to be played? "Baptisms. Children's birthdays."
Sounds about right.
