5 totally new things we learned about Louis Tomlinson from his chat with Matt

We like to think we've discovered a lot about the One Direction boys over the years: from the existence of a 1D email chain (we'll ask one more time, guys: can we join?) to Harry's penchant for The Notebook and, most notably, Ryan Gosling (#relatable), but it seems as though there's still a heap of stuff we're yet to uncover.

Louis Tomlinson tells Matt some never heard before stories
Louis Tomlinson sits down with Matt to tell some never heard before stories!
Enter: Louis Tomlinson. The Back To You singer swung by R1 HQ for a chat with Matt Edmondson and dished on everything from the contents of his notes section to having Simon Cowell fly him out to L.A. just to give him a ticking off (#notrelatable). It's safe to say that we've still got a lot to learn about the former members of the world's biggest boy band.
Ready for another Louis low-down? Here goes...
1. The notes section of his phone is exactly like ours

Take a quick look at your notes section and then report back... Does it consist of a load of gobbledegook? Half-finished thoughts? A bunch of numbers that have no relevance to anything at all? Ugh, SAME. Turns out that Louis treats the scribble section of his phone in the same manner...
I often find myself kind of - and this is really not professional of me to say - just hearing these funny stories and having to make notes on my phone to make sure I can tell my mate Ollie when I get out.Louis Tomlinson
"If I'm in a writing session, especially if I'm in LA - y'know I work with some people who aren't that similar to me, they're quite full of beans and in your face and all that kind of thing and they tell a lot of stories, a lot of stories - I often find myself kind of, and this is really not professional of me to say, just hearing these funny stories and having to make notes on my phone to make sure I can tell my mate Ollie when I get out."
At this point you're probably saying 'like WHAT, Louis?!'. Well, like this...
"For example, I think this was a woman on a plane. I've got here 'my ears don't pop...' and then I think the other woman replied 'my ears always pop'. And that's on my notes. So you want random, you'll get random."
For reference, our ears always pop.
2. Simon Cowell goes to extreme lengths to tell him off
The story goes a little something like this: Louis had a bit too much to drink before an important interview and, beady-eyed manager that he is, Simon Cowell spotted Louis' inebriation a mile off. What ensued was a panicked Louis being flown out to L.A. for the ticking off of his life...
"He gave me the dressing down for maybe the first five, ten minutes and then we had a proper chat. Honestly if I haven't have had that chat with Simon then, I don't think we'd be as close as we are now, y'know what I mean? I do really feel like he's got my back and I've done quite a lot with him, even outside of One Direction. I think it was vital - for me as an individual and for our relationship."
We wouldn't mind being told off so much if it involved a trip to L.A., to be honest.
3. He's, like, 90% done with his album
Current status: not-so-patiently waiting for Louis' debut album. The good news? It's definitely coming. The bad news? There's no definite date just yet.
What's the hold up, LT? "Again it's just speculation because I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I think I'm, like, 90% there with the album... maybe like two songs away? But once I get those two songs I might listen to the album and be like 'actually maybe there's better songs to be had.'"
4. He's just as in awe of Ed Sheeran as we are

We reckon it's pretty widely accepted that Ed Sheeran is one hell of a talented fella. He's been nominated for a whopping 109 awards and walked home with 49 of them (seriously Ed, where do you put them all?) and his album '÷' (Divide) made history as the biggest-selling album by a male artist ever. EVER!
When asked what songs he currently had on repeat, Louis revealed that Sheeran is top of the list every time:
"Every single song that Ed Sheeran writes has that feel to it. From a song-writing point-of-view, the beauty is the simplicity in that we all think 'god, maybe I could write that' but he is just so geniously [sic] subtle but brilliant."
5. He doesn't approve of Matt's chosen mode of transportation

Here's the dealio: Matt rides a scooter in to work. Not a motorised scooter - no no - but, instead, a scooter reminiscent of the one you begged your parents for during the Christmas of 2002. No big deal, right? Wrong. It seems as though a lot of people are less than impressed with Matt's chosen mode of transportation (personally, we're all for it), including Louis...
"I feel like maybe it suits you - especially with the outfit - it kind of makes sense to me. I'm not sure I could take anyone too seriously in the moment on the scooter."
Burn, baby, burn. Verdict's out, Matt: your commute is not One Direction approved.
