From Bey to Biebs: here's what 7 stars have in their backstage riders

The internet was abuzz this weekend with the leaking of James Arthur's alleged backstage rider for V Festival.
According to the Metro, the former X Factor alumni's demands included 'a TV and gaming chairs no less than 50 inches wide' (bit specific but OK), steamed broccoli (not our first choice of veg but hey ho), four Egyptian cotton towels (thread count matters, people!) and a pizza takeout order amounting to exactly £157.64.

James Arthur set the record straight on what's actually in his rider
Steamed broccoli? Egyptian cotton towels? Sliced lemon wedges? Not quite...
Turns out, none of the above is true. Speaking to Radio 1, James put an end to the rider rumours once and for all:
"The most ridiculous thing I've ever - I don't know where they've got it from! First of all, £157 worth of Dominos and I'm vegan? It doesn't make any sense! No, none of that is true. My rider is like popcorn, crisps, salad and humus and all that kind of stuff."
Riders are part and parcel of life on the road when it comes to catering for the stars and, as far as celebrity standards go, James Arthur's rider is pretty low-key. From Beyonce to Bieber and beyond, here's the backstage goodies the A-list are apparently requesting in order to live their best tour life...
Jay-Z

He's one of the biggest stars in the world - and he also happens to be one of this year's Live Lounge guests - so it's hardly surprising that Jay-Z's alleged rider demands are lavish and extensive.
According to The Smoking Gun, Jay (real name: Shawn Corey Carter) requested the following while headlining at the University of Arizona back in 2009: a late-model black Maybach, a dressing room kept at 72 degrees, two bottles of $300 champers and 'good quality' peanut butter and jelly.
In a more recent tour rider for Jay's and Ye's 'Watch The Throne' Tour, unearthed by TMZ, the rapper factored in Blue Ivy's needs, stating: "For starters, the entire suite must be childproofed with all corners, sharp edges, and electrical outlets all covered, and statues, lamps and breakable objects removed. Blue only drinks organic whole milk."
P!nk

Did you miss Grimmy chatting to P!nk on The Breakfast Show last week? Don't fear, you can catch all the goss right here.
While giving Grimmy the lowdown on everything from her latest single to onstage acrobatics, P!nk also gave an insight into her rider. Turns out that being a proud parent has changed the pop star's backstage wishlist, but only a little bit. "There’s still whisky on my rider, thank you very much!" she insisted. "Also eco friendly pacifiers, string cheese…"
Everything in moderation.

P!nk dishes on everything from her new single to her rider demands...
One Direction

Another day, another celebrity rider uncovered by The Smoking Room. This time it's the turn of One Direction and, in true boy band fashion, the former-band's demands were pretty exhaustive and entertaining.
Featuring a 'large, glass fronted drinks fridge', 'a ping pong table', 'a pinball table', 'three cases of local beer', 'four star dressing rooms' with a 'pleasant ambience', 'wall-to-wall freshly cleaned and deodorized carpet' and 'a supply of soft toilet tissue and odorless air freshener', it's hard to find fault in this list. I mean, who doesn't want soft toilet tissue?!
Lana Del Rey

Lana dropped by to chat to Grimmy earlier this month and shared her minimal rider requests.
"I ask for a kettle and water and ginger. Do we have anything else? Oh, pizza!" As for the pizza topping? That's still to be confirmed, but we dig Lana's sweet and simple approach to tour life.
Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber went viral for the millionth time in his career back in May of this year when the alleged rider for his appearance in Mumbai was leaked by a music journalist. Are you ready for this? It's beefy...
"A convoy of 10 luxury sedans and 2 Volvo buses will be at the disposal of the artist and his entourage of 120 people through their stay, with a Rolls Royce reserved for the Grammy winner himself.
10 containers will be flown in with items like a ping pong table, playstation... sofa set, washing machine, refrigerator, upholstery, wardrobe cupboard, massage table that will be used backstage. Arrangements for a Jacuzzi have also been made for Bieber's personal use to unwind before he takes to the stage."
But that's not all:
"A special Indian Yoga Casket containing aromatic essential oils: jasmine, mogra, rose and camphor incense sticks..."
We could go on. Really. It's a long ol' list. Let's all spare a moment for the assistant in charge of sourcing all of Bieber's must-haves. (Does anyone know what 'mogra' is?)
Beyoncé

Much like her hubby Jay, Bey's rider request extends to include the needs of Blue Ivy ("all rooms designated for Beyoncé's use must be 'baby-proofed'") and, no doubt, now Sir and Rumi Carter.
Back in October 2016, InTouch shared a rider of Bey's used at a photo shoot. It went a little something like this:
"Dressing room should accommodate 8 people. In addition to the following food and beverages, Beyoncé's primary dressing room should be furnished comfortably to create a “sitting room” atmosphere with the room temperature to be set at seventy-two (72) degrees."
What is it with these guys and 72 degrees?!
Bey likes her food and bevs "presented on a table with a clean white tablecloth, linen napkins, silverware, disposable plates and silverware, drinking glasses and China plates, cups and saucers." The food and beverages in question? A large turkey deli tray, eight bananas, five whole grapefruits, hard boiled eggs and one jar of jalapenos.
Adele: Eczema

As backstage riders go, Adele's is fairly simple.
According to The Smoking Gun, The Someone Like You singer likes to indulge in an assortment of chewing gum, a plate of freshly made sandwiches (although they can't contain tomatoes, vinegar, chili or citrus fruit), bite-size chocolate bars and twelve bottles of beer. Although, it has to be noted, "North American beer is NOT acceptable".
Loud and clear, Adele. Loud and clear.
