Who the fans want to play Dazzler in X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Taylor Swift is rumoured to be appearing in the new X-Men movie, titled Dark Phoenix, as popstar mutant Dazzler.

This is the second time the Blank Space singer has been linked with the role and it's all thanks to an Instagram post from Game Of Thrones and X-Men actress Sophie Turner.

Sophie posted a photo on Instagram from the set of a previous X-Men movie in 2016 with a reference to Taylor Swift's 1989 album, and even tagged Taylor in the pic - which sent fans into a frenzy.

Taylor was also pictured with Sophie and fellow X-Men star, James McAvoy but sadly, there was no space in X-Men: Apocalypse for Dazzler.

But all that appears to be changing in Dark Phoenix and the rumours are back. But it's not just Taylor Swift that fans want to see step into the flares and face paint to play the X-Men's light-projecting disco queen. Fans of other A-list female stars are campaigning for their faves to get involved in the mutant action.

Taylor fits the bill to play Dazzler in the movie - she's a blonde pop superstar and she knows how to kick ass (check out her Bad Blood video), but her acting experience may be a little limited.

She had small roles in Valentine's Day, The Lorax and The Giver but her best role yet is the 'troubled' ex-girlfriend she played in her own Blank Space video. It's wrong for X-Men, but it sure shows she knows how to act.

However, sources also claim that Taylor is not in line for the role, so at the moment casting her as Dazzler may only be wishful thinking on the part of her biggest fans.

Where there's a Taylor Swift rumour, you can be sure Katy Perry gossip is right behind it. Katy's fans have been campaigning online to give her the role instead.

Katy's kinda busy promoting her new album Witness at the moment and her few acting roles (a small part in Zoolander 2 and voicing Smurfette in two Smurf movies) suggest Hollywood isn't really her priority right now.

Lady Gaga, on the other hand, has won awards for her acting, so perhaps she's the perfect fit for the role?

She won a Golden Globe award for her role in American Horror Story in 2016 and is currently filming A Star Is Born alongside Bradley Cooper, so she has shifted her career focus - for now at least.

Fans have been quick to point out the similarities between Lady Gaga and Dazzler's appearances, with Gaga wearing face-paint similar to the comic book character during her early days.

Zara Larsson has no real acting experience, but Zara's age could put her in the running as the main characters in the new X-Men movies are teenagers and Zara is just 19.

However, with just one album under her belt, we'd assume her priority right now is definitely her music career, no matter how well she'd fit in with the movie's young cast.

The casting call for the Dazzler role asked for an 18-year-old actress, and Zara's so talented she could surely rock this small 'supporting' role and boost her profile across the world.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is due to hit cinemas on 2 November 2018, so producers have plenty of time to decide who to cast in this small but crucial role.
