7 stars who have experienced serious stage mishaps

Turns out there's one major key DJ Khaled forgot about: if you want to spare yourself embarrassment onstage, check your sound system is hunky dory before you start.

Performing at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas on Sunday night, the I'm The One hitmaker (real name: Khaled Mohamed Khaled) reportedly turned up late for his set and then had sound issues, leading the crowd to boo him off stage.

DJ Khaled reportedly got booed off stage in Las Vegas

Major key: check your sound system before hitting the stage.

Khaled's version of events are ever so slightly different, posting to Instagram with the caption: "They tried to sabotage my sound so many times THEY could not get the sound right on my set and i still stood on stage wit no sound and when they got the sound to work they want cut my set short but I still rep for my people anyone else would walk off stage."

Whatever happened, Khaled's EDC mishap isn't the first time a star has experienced an onstage 'mare. Here's 7 others who know the feeling all too well...

Who can forget the now infamous fan-flung shoe incident that caused Harry Styles to writhe on the floor in pain while onstage with One Direction in Glasgow? Not us, that's for sure.

Why a shoe? Why the crotch? Why Harry? Did the perp spend the rest of the gig wearing only one shoe? Did they bring a spare shoe especially to fling? So many burning questions, so unlikely that we'll ever know the answer. All we do know is that the shot-putter (shoe-putter?) in question is apologetic.

You hear that, Hazza? Again, we're not entirely sure where the shoe was meant to land but it most definitely, ahem, dragged him down.

Rewind to 2011 and Lady Gaga's sell-out Monster Ball tour. Onstage in Houston, Mother Monster straddled the piano keys and the piano stool before taking a tumble and falling backwards. 'Ouch' springs to mind.

Ever the professional, Gaga persevered and hit all the notes perfectly, despite almost impaling herself on the corner of a grand piano.

If you're dreaming about hearing Justin Bieber sing Despacito live, we've got some bad news for you: he doesn't know the words.

Performing at the Summerburst Festival in Stockholm over the weekend, the Biebs shut down requests for him to sing the summer hit, saying: 'I can't do Despacito. I don't even know it.'

Slightly maddening? Sure. Worthy of a water bottle to the head? Nope. But that's exactly what one disgruntled gig-goer attempted after hearing the news. Is it too late now to say sorry? Probs.

File this under reason #62021830157 (x10 recurring) why Beyoncé is the greatest there ever was.

Performing during the Super Bowl's 2016 halftime show, Bey lost her footing and nearly fell over but, thankfully, recovered flawlessly like the survivor. And if that isn't enough to convince you that Queen B is superhuman, how about the time her ear started bleeding onstage after an earring got ripped out and she carried on gracing our sound waves like it was no big deal? Thought as much.

This next incident involves Travis Scott, Drake and a 45ft globe. Confused? Let's break it down.

Making a surprise appearance during the London leg of Drake's Boy Meets World tour, Travis Scott fell down a fabric-covered hole - a hole that was housing Drake's 45ft inflatable sphere - before bouncing back like nothing happened. Boy meets world (literally), amirite?!

Although Travis was unfazed, Drake promised the 20,000 concert-goers a refund due to the slip up.

This footage still makes us wince and it's not hard to see why.

Performing at the 2015 BRIT Awards - the first time she's taken to the BRIT stage in 20 years - Madonna experienced an extreme stumble. The cause of the Material Girl's problems? Well, her material.

Wearing an Armani cape that was tied too tightly, the singer struggled to undo it before her Minotaur backing dancers pulled it off, causing Madge to tumble down the steps. Get cape, wear cape, fly off the stage.

The most argh-inducing onstage moment of the bunch? Michael Clifford's fiery mishap.

Onstage at Wembley Arena in 2015, the 5SOS guitarist got too close to the pyrotechnics and his hair caught fire. The concert was, understandably, cut short and Michael was rushed to hospital.

But don't fear, the 5SOS star has made a full recovery. We reckon he's probably steering clear of fancy stage fire for the foreseeable future, mind you.
