8 reasons we love Ariana Grande even more after One Love Manchester

After the devastating tragedy which happened at her Manchester concert a few weeks ago, it would have been understandable if Ariana Grande had felt like hiding away.

Instead, she came back to the city and pulled together an inspiring, uplifting and moving concert for 50,000 fans at Old Trafford cricket ground, and millions more watching across the globe.

We love Ariana, and here are just a few of the reasons why...

1. One Love Manchester

Ariana Grande - One Last Time (One Love Manchester)

Performing live in Manchester on 4 June 2017.

Take That, Robbie Williams, Little Mix, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and so many more came together to represent the healing, unifying power of pop music. Set up in just a matter of days, the gig raised over £2 million for the Red Cross Manchester appeal.

One of the concert's most incredible moments came when all the performers taking part joined Ariana on stage while she sung her hit One Last Time. The song had been her encore on that terrible night, and has gone on to become a benefit single for Manchester.

2. She makes the unexpected happen

Liam Gallagher - Live Forever (One Love Manchester)

Performing live in Manchester on 4 June 2017.

Oasis legend and proud Mancunian Liam Gallagher made an unexpected appearance towards the end of the One Love Manchester Gig. He arrived soon after Coldplay had belted out his former band's hit Don't Look Back in Anger, a song which has become a symbol of Manchester defiance.

But the true surprise came when Liam brought Coldplay frontman Chris Martin out to play and sing on the classic Oasis song Live Forever. Liam has been less than flattering about Chris in the past, including calling him a "plant pot" at the 2005 Q Awards, so their fantastic duet shows just how much music can bring us all together.

3. That incredible voice

Her phenomenal vocals makes her this generation's Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey, but Ariana's voice has perhaps never made such an impact as it did last night.

At the end of One Love Manchester, Ariana blew the crowd three kisses before giving a heartfelt, stunning performance of Somewhere Over The Rainbow, a classic song of hope.

4. Her friendships

Ari is clearly a fiercely loyal friend and encourages her fans to be the same. The love between her and Miley Cyrus was obvious as the two pop stars hugged on stage.

One of the night's best moments came when the two pals sat down together to perform an emotional cover of Don't Dream It's Over by the Australian band Crowded House, both wearing tops which professed their love for Manchester.

5. Her love for her fans

Ariana loves her loyal fans, or 'arianators,' and offered anyone who was at the Manchester concert in May a free ticket to the One Love evening.

She spoke movingly on stage about having spoken to the mother of Olivia Campbell, a young victim of the bombing, who told her that her daughter would've wanted to "hear the hits." Grande admitted she changed the nature of her entire set list as a result, before launching into Side to Side.

"I love you so, so much," she told the crowd at one point. "Thank you so much for coming together and being so loving and strong and unified. I love you guys so much, and I think the kind of unity you're displaying is the medicine the world needs right now."

One of the night's most affecting moments came when Ariana was joined by children from Parrs Wood High School Choir, who helped her sing her hit My Everything. Some of the fantastic singers had been present at her performance at Manchester Arena last month. Everyone watching was bowled over by young soloist, Natasha Seth, but at one point everything got a bit much for her and she broke down in tears. Luckily Ariana was at hand to give her a great big hug.

6. Her music

Mac Miller and Ariana Grande - The Way (One Love Manchester)

Performing live in Manchester on 4 June 2017.

With huge hits like Into You, Focus, and Dangerous Woman, Ariana is one of our all-time favourite pop stars. Her empowering pop anthem Break Free took on a new significance when she sung it on stage at One Love Manchester.

But she truly gave us all the feels when she brought her boyfriend Mac Miller on stage for a performance of their joint track The Way. As she said, by way of an introduction, "tonight is all about love, am I right?"

7. Her Mum

Anyone who follows Ariana on Instagram will know how close she is to her family. But we're a little bit in love with her Mum now, too, after Joan Grande was spotted walking through the crowds at One Love Manchester, meeting fans and offering hugs, selfies and support.

8. Her bravery

In the past few weeks there has been a huge outpouring of love and respect - for our brilliant emergency services, and for those who have stayed strong after being caught up in terrible events.

Ariana has also showed herself to be a true role model, a real professional, and more than proved her mettle. While the pop star looked like she was fighting back tears at several moments during the One Love concert, she continually kept it together. Ariana, we love you.
