In Session

This week, we hear the haunting vocals of Hagley's Kiki O'Connell.
You could have heard a pin drop at our recent recording session as part of Malvern Rocks - but surprisingly she was inspired to get into music by the Spice Girls!
She since grew up on a mix of blues and jazz from artists as diverse as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday through to her parents' favourite The Carpenters.
She taught herself how to play piano two years ago after being let down by various guitarists - and supports her income by working as a waitress.

Malvern Rocks

Taking place across many pubs, hotels and clubs in Malvern, this new music festival put the rich, diverse pool of musical talent in and around Malvern to work for a great local cause: Acorns Children's Hospice.
Three days of free music included pop to punk, folk to metal - in a similar format to that of the Worcester Music Festival.
This year TV star and celebrity chef Loyd Grossman headlined the event with his new band!

Ringmaster festival cancelled

A music festival on the Worcestershire border has been cancelled just over a week before the event due to "unforeseen financial reasons".
The two day Ringmaster festival was due to take place at Hopton Court, near Cleobury Mortimer from 27 September.
Headline acts included Maximo Park, Hadouken, and the Mystery Jets.
Organisers said in a statement: "The festival was no longer able to guarantee the appropriate monies owed to the bands and other parties."
"[Ringmaster] would like to offer everyone their sincere apologies, in what has become a horrendous and saddening situation," it added.
Organisers said all tickets would be refunded and that people should get in touch with their ticket providers for more information. Read more...
X Factor
A Worcestershire teenager is 16/1 to win this year's X Factor according to William Hill this week.
16-year-old Kidderminster College student Giles Potter is through the audition stages of the competiton after his rendition of Jesse J's Pricetag on Saturday.
We'll hear some of his early work - and catch up with him in the studio!

George Barnett

BBC Introducing brings together all of the BBC's supporters of undiscovered and unsigned music and since 2007 has championed brand new talent from across the UK.
Every year you'll find us at many of the biggest and best music festivals across the country featuring a wide variety of new music and for the very first time BBC Introducing headed to Radio 2's Live In Hyde Park: Festival In A Day.
Chosen by us was Leominster's George Barnett - who we last featured on stage at the Wychwood Festival.
Through BBC Introducing, thousands of unsigned artists and musicians have been given access to a bigger audience on air, online and on the TV.
Without a doubt, if you're an unsigned artist, BBC Introducing is the place to get your best music heard by the BBC...and who knows what opportunities could be around the corner.

Peace

What a summer it's been for the Worcester band Peace - playing the biggest gigs of their lives.
Their touring schedule began with an appearance at Glastonbury and most recently - Reading & Leeds.
The gig, which was televised by the BBC, saw brothers Harry Koisser and Samuel Koisser take to the stage with fellow band members Douglas Castle and Dominic Boyce.
Way back in July 2010, BBC Introducing in Hereford & Worcester gave them their first ever festival gig at Nozstock under their former name November & The Criminal after being included in Andy O'Hare top ten acts of 2009.
