Morning lovelies, tis Christoff Lambie Pie of the blog here.

Chris Evans | 10:54 UK time, Tuesday, 15 December 2009

Today feels Christmassy, really Christmassy and ten days still to go to.

This is very good news as sometimes the Christmas feeling evades one, but ten days to go and it's already in residence - that's officially "good times !"

This a.m. in our house Tash has been cleaning the bird feeders - with a toothbrush by the way - doubly impressive; whilst I have been at my desk since seven thirty thrashing out two thousand more words for book two.

In other news, had a lovely team dinner last night and Robert Downey Jr MY MOST FAVOURITE ACTOR EVER was in town for the premiere of his new film - Sherlock Holmes.

A strong cup of tea is now daring me to drink it, something I may have to acquiesce in doing.

Have a great one peeps.

    No hangover then? Good one!

I watched Robert Downey Jr (with Ed Byrne and Will Young) and Graham Norton's show last night - he is divine, isn't he?! Smiley eyes. So very important in a man.

    Good morning, CLP!

How do you manage to discipline yourself to write so much daily?? I must get my finger out and find my time and space to write daily! You’re an inspiration you know!! As for Tash doing the bird feeders, at the suggestion of one of my FB gaming friends I’m going to become a Flylady in the New Year, then I too will be so organised I can clean my poor bird feeders!

Watched an interview with Robert Downey Jr and that other gorgeous gent in the movie - what lovely gentlemen they were!!! Haven’t been to the pictures since Mama Mia, but may have to move myself to go see this one!!

    Enjoy your cuppa!

Greetings Of The Season Ter CLP Boy & ALL Bloggie Peeps.......

    Bingo Star ere.....

CLP - Glad all iz buzy, buzy, buzy & going full steam terwards the crimbo!!!!!!!
Am really looking forward ter the Drivetime gig!!!!!!
Wondering der yer want me ter bring me guitar??? Thought maybe the Ting Tings might need a guitarist!!!!! LOL!!!!

Sadly am noot feeling too Christmassy at the moment due too serious problems in me life.... but am gonna pull mesen tergether az ter be down just isn't me at all!!!!
But just lately it seems life keeps attacking me!!!! There's a lot ave noot writted on the blog & that won't write az the!!! A don't like writing bad news on the blog & INDEED lately try ter refrain from getting political az a only wanter entertain/ make people laugh but terdee sadly I 'ave bad news!!!!!
I'll get me BIG rant over terdee.... then termozza it's back ter the real me & 'umour only!!!!

Further to me blog last week a found out late on Fridee that i've lost me job!!!!
The bully won and az i'm only an agency driver, because I dared ter put a complaint in about a bully, the management's answer waz take the easy option and tell the agency I work for, that they no longer want me working for them - nice just before Christmas!!
The reason i'm told why they don't want me: i'm too slow, accusing me of dragging my runs out & az a result costing the company money!!!! I've never dragged my runs out - EVER!!!!
I've worked at this Sainsbury's frozen food depot now since June & always done my job to a very 'igh standard, never failed to show for work & never had any accidents or failed deliveries!!!
The reason why I get behind on my delivery times is the times are just not attainable or in the real world at all!!!
The very first shift I ever worked, my training day I was taken out by a driver who is an ex policeman & used to be a traffic accident investigation officer!!!! (He now works as a part time HGV driver as 'e's retired & just does a few days per week ter boost 'is pension) Very nice bloke & I got on really well with 'im!!!
Some very interesting stories about 'is years in the ploice & some very shocking stories about the things 'e'd seen being accident investigation!!!
On me first dee, 'e told me the runs are way too tight & not ter worry about it. If yer delayed like due to traffic problems or another delivery at a store unloading before me, ter just write the reason down and not to worry about it!!
Even on my training dee, we arrived back at the depot 2 'ours behind schedule despite no major delays!!!!
I also notice 'e 'as since left working there & they seem ter 'ave a 'igh turn of of drivers!!!! Says alot!!!
I've asked other drivers about this & all 'ave said the runs are too tight & not ter worry about it - just do what yer can do!!!
The runs are timed by a computer, & most are just not correct/ do-able!!!
One run I remember well: across Bristol - yer given 17mins ter get from one side of Bristol right over ter the other side - it took me an 'our on the most direct road possible!!!
When a got ter the store, a asked the staff being locals, 'ave a gone the wrong way? They told me no & it's impossible ter do it in 17mins!!!! On a clear run a night it would take them in a car 40mins, never mind in a big HGV through all the 'eavy traffic in the dee!!!!
Another run, gives you 5 'ours 53mins terrrrrr deliver ter 5 stores, with 7 mins extra time before by law you 'ave ter take a tacho break (every 6 'ours max: a break must be taken). Plus in these 7 mins yer meant ter reload a full load of 150 empty cages - this takes a minimum of 40 mins and often an 'our or more depending on the store staff - 'ow fast they work!!!!
The only way is ter take yer break illegally while loading - something I refuse ter do!!!!!!
Plus dropping at 5 stores yer nearly always clash with another delivery & end up waiting an 'our or more!!!!
The ironic thing too, i'm told i've been told goodbye az i'm costing the company money!!!
I ave been on fuel training course & drive my lorry far more economically than most other drivers!!!
I've always been in the top 5 most economical on the fuel figures list at all companies i've worked at az I don't rag my vehicle and use the gears etc too a 'igh standard - although I don't drive slow!! Always at the max allowed speed limit when ever possible!!!!!!
On top of this i've been told by store staff, i'm one of the few drivers who is not lazy & always collects empty cages - something the depot 'ave a problem of keep running out of!!!! All due to drivers not bringing back cages!!!
And i've been told a few times by store staff i'm the only driver who puts the insulation doors down inside the trailer, (most drivers are too lazy) - this insulates just the area where the frozen products are, so for example if a 44' trailer iz a quarter full, only this bit iz being kept frozen & noot the whole empty bit of the trailer. This causes the diesel engine that runs the freezer motor to work a lot, lot less 'arder. Plus also 'aving it on auto on/off, all of which makes the engine use a lot less fuel & less noise & pollution!!!
All saving the company money!!!!! Sadly management don't know I do this az they can't see it when am on the road!!!
Often when I re-fuel the fridge I only put in 16 litres of diesel after a 13 'our run, yet i've fuelled fridges that other drivers 'ave used & it's taken 60 or more litres!!!! Probally saving 50 quid a shift!!!
Plus there's signs all over the transport office wall telling drivers things like '100,000 pounds worth of damage in so many months 'as been done to vehicles by drivers - drivers must stop damaging vehicles'
All of the trailers are covered in scrapes & damage - i've NEVER put a scratch on a trailer in the 7 months i've worked there - again saving them money!!!!
In fact i've often 'ad remarks made to me by store staff like 'I wish most drivers backed on the bay like you'!!!
I usually straight back onter the bay in one go!!!!!
So for all the above all I get for Christmas is told i'm no good at my job & they don't want me!!!!
And it couldn't be at a worst time of year az it's so 'ard ter find a job now & January iz the quietest time of year in the 'aulage industry!!!

It's all because i've dared ter stand up ter a bully!!!!
Just one example of the bullying I was subjected too - I came in at the start of my shift - the bully gave me the keys ter my truck for the shift. I go out & find it's the only truck that waz blocked in!!!
I went back ter the transport office & asked why 'e can't just simply give me the keys ter one of the 20 other identical available trucks that are not blocked in!!!!!
    The bully's reply with a smile "life's a bitch ain't it!!!!"
I then ave ter go & move the one that waz blocking in my allocated truck, move mine out and put the other one back in it's space, then return the keys back ter the office!!!
This lead me to being 10mins late leaving the depot, on the very tight timings, then at the end of the shift i'm asked why was I 10mins late leaving!!!!

So i'm trying not ter be unhappy, noot ter let it get me down but if am 'onest things are beginning ter really get ter me now me!!!!
It's like the brill advice CLP says 'don't give yer time ter the bad people!!!'
But sometimes yer can't avoid them.... and being such a positive bloke, I think it makes me more of a target for these sad individuals!!!!!

Termozz.... i'll be ok & bounce back!!!!
But if am 'onest a am very worried about my money situation over Crimbo!!!!!
A might ave ter go busking at Lime street station, only problem... a might end up getting arreasted by armed ploice on being a potential terror suspect!!!!!

Soz ter ave me rant on ther blog, am noot doing it for sympathy or ter wallow in self pity... az am noot like that!!!!!
Just wanted ter get it off me chest & who knows maybe a few out there who are 'aving a bad time & feel it's only them will read this and it'll cheer them up az they'll realise.... it's noot just them!!!!!

Ter end on a positive.... these experiences in life only make me more determined ter overcome these nasty people & ter try and release what good I 'ave ter offer the world!!!!!
A for one will NEVER end up turning inter one of the bitter bad people mesen!!!!!!!

One bitts good news - Ave been in touch with the agency & ave been told they still want me ter work for them & will try ter find me some work on another contract!!!!!!
Just the only problem, this time of year... it's difficult ter change jobs!!!!!!

Sometimes wonder if a should take a year out, maybe only work 2 dees per week and spend the rest of me time throwing mesen full at me music - maybe it could pay off & this time next year.... who knows!!!!!!

A don't know all.... one confused Bingo Star!!!!!

    Bye!

Hello CLP and bloggers and blogettes.

and to Bingo - just wanted to say you seem like a lovely guy who deserves much happiness. but as a Capricorn this year is one of the toughest in terms of life changes - and whilst the changes may be necessary (we may not agree right now with whatever they are - as too tough/painful) the way forward will be brighter. Below is your weekly Capricorn outlook, and remember Pluto has arrived in our sign for the first time in years and we have to 'get rid of anything that is negative or polluting, even thoughts!', otherwise Pluto may find painful ways to make us make the change! Keep it positive Bingo - your life is changing, and all for the better. Don't let a low life get you down - his daily dose of keeping his own energy high by using up others' is pathetic and can only mean he is most unhappy loser!!!!!!

Weekly Capricorn Horoscope - Week of 7th December, 2009

Whatever's on your mind, the sooner you talk about it, the less of an explosive issue it's going to be. As Mercury moves into your sign this week, there's going to be plenty more chances to talk about THINGS - anything, from your love life to your working life to your plans for world domination (you do have a few of those, don't you? Every good Capricorn should have right now…) If it's money on your mind, remember we create our own reality, especially where cash is concerned, so don't let the words "I can't afford it" cross your mind/lips!

To all others out there - have a great day. Your date on 23rd sounds fantastic so well done getting there, your commitment on the blog certainly deserving of it.

Chrissie and MWK - you're going yes?!? Fantastic!

    Hiya:

Bingo: I know you are not looking for sympathy - but you are getting mine anyway. xx You have been treated appallingly, I am so sorry to hear what happened. My advice is that you write to Sainsbury's and explain everything that took place. List everything that you said in your post today. Yes, I know you are employed by the agency and not the actual company, but they need to know what is happening in their ranks. I am not "bigging" myself up, but I compose letters for a living, and if I can help you in any way, please just say and I will contact you. I would not let that eejit get away with it - I can't bear to see this kind of injustice. Bingo, you are such a great guy, and I really believe good things are round the corner for you. xx

Gains: welcome to the blog - good for you taking the plunge! You will love it here!

Dreamer: Oooooh, I know! Mary and I are absolutely beside ourselves! We will raise a wee glass to you next Wednesday! xx

Dragon: terrific news! Hope you get the return flights sorted, or it will be quite a long visit to the homeland!

Hi all...up very late (again) today. Not having a good day. But anyhoo...

Christophe, when did you become ChristOFF?? Or have you always bin Christoff? My memory is shot to bits lately and I'm not even sure when I am, let alone who anyone else is...

I too enjoyed Mr RDJ on Mr Norton's shebang last eve. I was going to bed after QI, but then had a quick flick, and found out that Mr Delishus was on the show, so I thought I'd stay up. Loved him in Ally McBeal...I thought Ed Byrne was lovely too...but then sleep called my eyes and I had to depart along the wooden ladder...

...I saw George Michael perform at Macca's Linda MacCartney tribute at the Albert Hall a few years back (and Macca too HOORAH, my mum was SOOOOOOOOOO jealous) and as we were in the stalls, we ran to the front(oho yersssssssss) so consequently we were only about 6ft from him. The man is GAWJUS, and so wonderful to see live...I don't think he stopped smiling the whole time...(and not in a creepy like a certain Marti Pellow...used to make me squirm) so, Bingo, if you do get the chance, try to get to see him!!!

Re the bullying malarkey...we've discussed this before. I was in the same boat as La Diva at school, and have suffered since. It comes from being too nice to horrible people. And if you don't report it, he'll do it to other people too. I know what you mean about January being the hardest, the Badger, albeit in a different trade, finds it very difficult too. You need to get the bullying sorted out now. Take ChrissieS up on her offer. She took an off pint of milk back to a supermarket once, and came home with a Jersey cow by way of compensation. Seriously, she would give extremely good letter!

Tins, I keep missing you, and I keep meaning to say hallo! Still luvs ya! xxx

...and Andy, so glad your house is being sorted and you're all home in time for Christmas...is the second blog baby to be called George!

good times, bad times...no, on balance, good times

  • Comment number 71.

Baggy - it's not about being odd. It's about having the gumption and wherewithall to be different and not be ashamed to be so.

The irony was, once I "turned Goth" people thought I looked so scary they'd cross the street to avoid me!

    For Mrs HLS Senior

A Pome entitled 'Monarch o' the Blog'

Susan's mum was driving her car
When she felt a little bump
'Not to worry' she thought to herself
I've just gone over a hump
T'was then that she noticed a weight on her roof
So she thought she'd just have a look
She opened the door and peered up there
And there on the rack, saw a hoof
She looked a bit further and noticed a head
    From thence an angry eye
She thought to herself well at least it's not dead
Which so very nearly was I
The stag glowered and snorted, and got to it's feet
So ruining the rest of the car
Ne'er mind thought her mum the engine still goes
And at least I've not very far
She popped to the garage which was just up the road
When she found she could no longer steer
And the young mechanic breathed in and said
    That's gonna cost you,

  • Comment number 77.

    Afternoon all,

I have exciting news (well exciting for me) but can I get some things said first.

Tiggs and Hazel - hope things turn for the better very very soon, in the meantime you have my thoughts and best wishes.

Bingo - I know you weren't asking for this but here it is.......

You are Ace! I wish I had half the talent that you do.
How you compose your posts and translate them to Bingolese between all of your other activities is beyond me.
They are always thoughtful, clever and always laugh out loud funny!
The fact that you manage to fit in guitar playing, maths lessons, caring for your Mum and near daily visits to Radio 2 - is testament to your irrepressible zest for life.

Don't give the idiot another thought - what goes around comes around!
Have a flick back through the comments on your posts in just the last month and remember that they are written by people who know how terrific you are and mean them!!!!

Don't give up mate - that's not your way.
Look forward to meeting you next Wednesday and buying you a pint.

Chin up Big man - there's a lot of love around for you....

    Dragon - Don't bother coming back - not sure I would......simples!!!

Hazel - agree absolutely, have seen George Michael at the new Wembley stadium and on his 'last ever' (yeah right!) tour at Earls Court - grew up not being allowed to like Wham as a boy in the Eighties, but love him now.

    Dreamer - Welcome back bootiful

Hazel: sorry to hear you are having a bad day. You are just a wee tootsie and I hope things get better for you soon. xx Really had to laugh about the the Jersey cow! Made a fortune from that, I did!

Re: bullying in general. I know we have talked about this before. Cheryl: you and I were so on the same page. I suffered from bullying to within an inch of my life until I was 40. I reached that milestone, and I thought "right, no more". Now, I am perfectly nice to people, but I state my case and I will never go through that again. I still get the "fear" sometimes, but I just hang in there - and you know what - bullies are total cowards, they always back off.

Right, am off home for another productive evening - cards to be written, and Christmas music to listen to! Have a nice evening, all.

    evening blogpeeps.
Just had a lovely meal prep'd by cheffy son - roast chicken, mash and a leek, pea and bacon melange (d'ya like that word?) and yummy gravy. The simple stuff is the best when done well.

Needed to eat early as I am off to an open evening at special local butcher where I am going to have to spend a small fortune on my turkey - but it will be worth it.
Have had to delegate a pal to collect it Christmas Eve morning as I will be somewhere else .... where is that now? YES!!!! I will still be smiling after the O2 do!

Bingo - sorry to hear your news, mate, chin up - it will all work out.

Hazel - take it easy, hon, need you to be fit for next week xx

Gains - welcome to the best friendship club I know.

Have been lurkin for ages now, have had a mad busy few months but it has been fabulous! Really lookin forward to Xmas now, its great with the two littleuns, thats probably whats making you feel extra Crimbly this year CLP, Lil Noahs first one, almost like being a kid again yourself.
Bingo, just wanted to say, try and keep your chin up babes, the same thing happened to the newlywed husband a couple of years ago, he was an agency worker too got on the wrong side of some jobs worth eejit who had been there donkeys who tried to make his life difficult in a very nasty way, when the hubbie reported it he got the old heave ho, not nice at all, anyway the hubbie moved onto much bigger and better things so think of this as a stepping stone!
Robert Downey Jnr YUM, Im just about to send in my Christmas crackers and one of my choices is RDJ singing a cover of Joni Mitchells The River from the Ally McBeal Christmas CD.
