Tis twilight or gone some in The Evans household...

Chris Evans | 05:07 UK time, Friday, 2 March 2012

I have had a mahoosive sorting out day. Didn't stop until night time told me to. Satisfaction achieved. I am now as hungry as a horse fresh back from the hunt. Could eat my own arm but not much meat there. I wonder what treat Mrs E has in store. Always a wonder in The Kitchen. I am a lucky lucky man.

Clarkson of The Jeremy kind tomorrow. We are most grateful to him for his company. Outside of one publicity day a year, he doesn't do this sort of stuff. Can't wait. Tomorrow on The Breakkie Show just after eight.

Peace and Love

    me first?

have fun with clarkson, as I'm at work by 8, all alone (but not allowed to listen to any music, not even with headphones) I will miss out, might listen again if I get a chance

not hvaing a great start to the day, I haven't got my badge at work, you need you badge to buy stuff in the canteen (you put money on the card) so I cant buy myself a cup of tea, really hoping a kindly sole will come in soon and buy me one - I'm gasping!

Hi Chris made 2 mistakes you stated JC would be on tomorrow but blog was done at 05:07 on the 2nd March, so would be today and " Tomorrow on The Breakkie Show just after eight." but you are not on at weekend more the pity. lol

Dove - hi and welcome - please stick around.

Sometimes the BBC server posts the blogs a few hours after Chris has typed them, so the timing is a bit off, I guess we just ignore it now and go with the flow.

Have you tried Anneka in the morning on Sat - grreat to hear her back on the waves.

    Good morning all,

Another sunny day dawning down here on the south coast and It's Friday, what can be better than that .

Baggy I do hope that someone comes to the rescue soon ,can't have you going with out your cuppa.

Dove ,think at the mo Chris in a bit of an overdrive what with this car fest going around in his head ,along with a milion other things.

Another busy messy day at work for me ,but at least I have floors to walk on and new ceilings are in and the plasterers are busy with the walls. My boss is hoping all this work will be coming to an end by end of April, just in nice time for the nice weather to set in ...Hopefully.

Take care all and have a good day.

thanks - the lovely ladies in the canteen let me have a cup on tick (my actual words, I may be turning into a 1950's housewife) and I didn't have to sign for it, instead it is written on her heart that I will pay back - hows that for trust (and the fact that I go their daily as its in the building and it is only 30p)

So feel alive now - thank crunchie its friday

    Baggy

  • Comment number 7.

    Dove - no worries ;-)

    Morning all

Baggy, Hooray for the lovely tea-lady! But boo for mentioning crunchie!! Now I really want one!

Bids, we haven't seen the sun yet today - just fog! I hope the sun's going to be along soon!

I heard Anneka on the radio last week - just the last half hour of the show. She has got a lovely voice and sounds very much at home already

I have to admit, when I woke up and heard who the Friday guest was going to be, it didn't fill my heart with joy but there is something about these interviews that seems to bring out the best in people

I wonder if it that they have so much time to settle in and realise they don't have to be "The Image"?

Oh, and did anyone eklse think they had over slept for a month and woken up on 1st April when they heard the Eurovision news?

  • Comment number 10.

    Morning all

Sezza i know what you mean. I think the UK have a deathwish not to win Eurovision ever again - too costly to host anyhow! Of course I may be completely wrong given the day!!

Obviously been quite foggy here early on but just misty grey cloud here now.

    Sees you later

    Morning all

Glad the tea ladies took pity on you Baggy, I'm sure they know you're good for paying them back!

Didn't hear much of Mr Clarkson this morning, but it did seem like Chris had to work harder than normal on a Friday to get something out of the guest. Not the best he's had, by any means!

  • Comment number 12.

    Morning All,

Bit foggy here and the sun isn't doing a good job of breaking through either!

Baggy, I am quite concerned that you have to pay for tea, even if it is only 30p. Surely it should be free!! Thank goodness a kindly soul took pity on you :)

I've got to be honest I think Eurovision is a complete waste of time and money #justsaying.

So what is everyone up to at the weekend. I have Street Pastors tonight and then tomorrow I am meeting a lovely friend for lunch :) Sunday I shall be mostly catching up on TV programs that I've recorded during the week and haven't been able to watch and also last weeks Saturday Telegraph that's lying unopened on my living room carpet. It's been a busy week!

Cuppa time and may be even a biccy.

  • Comment number 13.

Ali - we have free cold and hot water (but no fridge/ microwave/etc) so we are tied to the canteen, which is subsidised.

It does mean though that for the first time I have to take approx £156 out of my wages yearly to drink, and more if I want a sandwich, and of course we buy 'rounds' for each other - kind hoping a get a small payrise or bonus to compensate!

I know my church so street pastors and I am intrested in joining as it is something I believe in, how do you find it?

    Thanks

  • Comment number 14.

Baggy, I must say I am quite upset about that on your behalf! £156 for tea - outrageous. I get free tea, I do however have to buy the milk and biscuits.

Re Street Pastors, I do it once a month on a Friday night and it wacks me out for the rest of the weekend. Getting home a 4am in the morning is hard (with apologies to any shift workers out there). But it is very rewarding. I am not usually out on the streets but in the church cooking and praying. I have been out and that's hard on the legs, walking up and down the high street in the freezing cold! Would recommend it though, but it's a big commitment.

    Hope that helps.

    Happy lunchtime everyone!

Anyone want to join me in a cup of sup & noodles?

However tomorrow I too am meeting a friend for lunch! Am really looking forward to it and I've got my shopping list ready!

Street Pastors sounds like such a fantastic, practical way to help people who need it. Ali, I hope you have a peaceful night and Baggy, go for it!

Andy, Clarkson sounded like he was on his best behaviour this morning. Probably safer but not what people expect from him!

    Happy Friday to you all,

We have another gorgeous day here , slow start, but the sun is here again. However, looking at the forecast, it appears to be all change for the weekend.
I really need to find a quiet corner in the grounds of the office, and set up my own little washing line . Think what major deals and decisions could be made , whilst my bedding is happily drying in the car park :-)

Baggy, glad you are not spitting feathers .

Off to the Trafford Centre tonight , not sure i feel like bothering , but needs must.
Decorating tomorrow , and hopefully having a rest on Sunday.

    Have a nice weekend everyone.

    Afternoon!

I managed to listen to some of JC when I was walking the dog, and plan on getting the rest later when the boy (or tiddler as he is now known) is finally asleep. I was going to listen at the playcentre, but we had to come home early as he had a tantrum.....

Baggy - I hope you have managed to get another cuppa!

Not much going on here - I'm still looking at our stuff and laughing hysterically to myself, and we are still no closer to getting a moving date! Although I have started the task of washing all the curtains......

As usual, when t'other is away, I have had a need for a medic - I thought tiddler had finally managed to break my nose on Monday. However his unintentional backward headbutt has just bruised the side of my nose. He's got a hard head my son!

Happy Friday all, and have a lovely weekend

    Ok Sezza, will do.

A really funny pythonesque end to the One Show.

Well, went across the bridge this morning in thick fog after queueing for ages, then it suddenly disappeared (the fog, not the bridge) and the sun came out. Had a lovely day with the 1yr old, who is developing a great sense of humour, and the afternoon with his 6yr old brother.

Piloted friends to a local theatre to see The Stranglers earlier - rather them than me! And now about to declare FNWC open.

    Anyone joining me?

Annie, I'll be there in a little bit - best not abandon the boy at scouts!

    Hiya Sezza.

How lovely that you and Ali had a mini meet :)

The pizza acted as a good plate. Have peeled off what toppings I could. I might have to resort to paying the extortionate prices that you have to pay for GF on this one. Am a bit partial to a pizza. A loaf is £2.93! But on the grand scale of things, not too bad if you cost it per slice.

  • Comment number 34.

Sal, keep your eys open at the end of the day when shopping - I saw a whole heap of genius bread - which i think is GF - reduced when I was shopping last!

Hope you can experiment a bit and find something that works

    Morning all!
Piddling down here today, but lots of errands to do so in and out of car a lot - me thinks I will have a VERY frizzy bonce by the time I'm finished.

One of my visits is to see my friends day old baby - cuddles!!!

Conference was a huge success!!! All our people had a great time, I didnt fall off the stage or the steps and managed not to blub when I presented my right hand woman with her HQ person of the year award. Bless her she blubbed and was so thrilled with her certificate and award thingy. Afterwards I said to her "what you gonna spend the money on?" She said, what money - the £500 I said - bless she hadnt read the certificate and seen that there was money too!!! so she blubbed again!

Right off for a coffee before I'm on a mission looking for popping candy. I'm off to an "off-site" for the management team at a cottage in Stratford for 2 days and we are doing "come dine with me" again. This time I'm on the pudding team so we are making hestons exploding chocolate torte....

    Hi everyone:

Just having a wee catch-up while listening to Steve's Love Songs - quite brilliant really - as I have said before, we must have the best radio in the world.

Debs: lovely to hear the Conference went so well. Wasn't that just gorgeous about your colleague? Great to hear about her success.

Sal: sorry if I have missed this gluten-free thingy with you. I have a friend who cooks/bakes constantly for her son who must eat all things gluten-free. If you need any assistance, just let me know. I know it costs a fortune, but he is so healthy now having the gluten from his diet.

Everyone else - so lovely to see the blog thriving. Re: FNWC - do we fancy a real get-together? Dates welcome - and we could get something organised. We might even find the hot tub again - what do you say? No worries if everyone says "err, no"!

Busy day for me - off to work for a couple hours to day to get up-to-date with some stuff, and then home later this afternoon in time to cook a wee roast beef delight!

    Have a good Sunday.

Chrissie, you are so thoughtful, thank you. I know I dont drop by this way that much these days, but the support from sincere Bloggers such as yourself always remains true.

I am getting a lot of helpful advice from a Mayo blogger that has lived with the disease (I hate that they call it that!) and it is proving most helpful. I am lucky in a way, that I dont really enjoy, or yearn for cakes, bread, pasta etc.. But I do miss the odd pizza.

I love fresh veg and am able to have huge bowls of these with no worries whatsoever. For once, I actually have time to cook them and eat at a reasonable time too.

Can I disagree with you about the voice issue. Your 'way in the future' Grandchild will not notice any 'gutteral' sounds coming from you, I certainly didn't!

You exude warmth and generosity, they are honourable qualities.

I hope everyone has had a good weekend. Its been a mix of everything here. Am getting a tad excited about the arrival of the first sand martins and will bounce back on here as soon as they are spotted.

    Happy Days :)

  • Comment number 59.

Good evening Sal nice to see you appear. I would be very interested to know when the sand martins appear. Living by a tidal bay I get to see some interesting birds but hey ho don't always know which is which.

I have a lovely Woodpecker that visits my peanut feeder on a regular basis and loads of garden birds the funniest time was watching the territorial robins dealing with two other pairs who were coming up to see if they could access the garden for suet treats - as the garden robins sorted out one set of interlopers the other pair nipped into the garden.

Do you think they do a tag routine?

  • Comment number 60.

Hi ho Norty Pheonix, what happened to the Dorset/Somerset name?

I am guessing, that you have a lesser or greater spotted visitor, as my green woodpeckers tend to stay on the ground, happily pecking away at the ants.

I do get down your way most weekends, and figure, that, that is where I will see the first arrivals. Its most definitely the last recorded place of seeing the last sightings of them.

If you get a mo, can you tell a bit more about the opening of the new bridge? Would be nice to hear about it.

    Sal :)

    Morning All,

Just thought I would pop on whilst eating my porridge (sorry Deevs), I haven't had a chance to catch up so I hope everyone is well and had a good weekend.

On Saturday morning I rode Ash, then we took the dogs down to the beach and went for a late breakfast in a local pub, by sheer chance we met one of the guys from work so we joined him and his wife for breakky, which was really nice. In the evening we went out with Mum, Dad and my brother for a sit in chippy - yum!, on the way home when we were dropping my brother off we saw the meteor, it was spectacular and we did wonder what the heck it was until we heard on the radio in the morning. Yesterday was spent filling in holes in our lane, hard work but necessary, then a kebab for dinner and TV in the evening. So, back to work this morning - oh joy, and hopefully catch up later when I get home.

    Have a good day everyone.

Flash mob on Saturday went well - I think the shoppers in the outdoor local food market wondered what on earth was going on, but loads of shoppers stood to listen and film us on their phones and gave us a lovely round of applause at the end.

Dozer, That sounds like a lovely weekend xx

Sezza, The lamp shade is great, but I need my Dad to tighten it as at the moment it's a wee bit floppy. Good job he's coming tonight.

I was a bit flummoxed this morning when it wasn't Chris, as I hadn't heard he wouldn't be around. But mighty glad it was that Richard and not the other one!

    Morning all

Well, if you can't have Chris, I'm very happy to have Mr Allinson in his place - let's hope this is a sign of things to come if Chris is off for longer than a day

Debs, I am very jelous of you vanishing off for a few days. Have a lovely time and keep warm

It is very chilly out there today and there is some sort of sleet or rain or something trying hard

How does the poem go though Something like March winds and April showers, both bring forth the sweet May flowers!

    Let's hope that's right!

Morning all from a very tired out cockneybird.

I am glad we have this richard and not the other one this morning he can do every holiday that chris has please.

A very busy but enjoyable weekend was had, we had a friends birthday friday night, then Saturday we had my uncle's 80th birthday over at Malvern just below the hills, there was snow on top of them yesterday morning when I woke up. Got to see friends and relations I have seen in decades which was really nice. Didnt get home till late last night and havent quite caught up with myself as yet.

Feeling proper shattered. Glad to see the blog is going strong. Sorry I dont attend Friday night wine club, I work friday nights and also not a big wine drinker, not keen on bombay mix either would rather have nuts or cheesie things.

I hope everyone has a lovely week and I am glad you are on the road to recover JG. Big hugs sent to you and anyone else who is suffering at the mo.

Hiya Bids - the pic on t'other side was actually community choir.
We gave a 20 min performance at a Fair Trade convention in Glyndwr University on Saturday afternoon.
We sang about 5 short pieces that included an anti apartheid song with a verse in Welsh, a Zulu lullaby, a piece in Latin - Dona Nobis Pacem, and Rhythm of Life from Sweet Charity.

Flash mob was earlier at noon and was organised by Welsh National Opera and that was a 5 minute piece that was a 'mash-up' of songs by Catatonia and Manic Street Preachers, along with that classic Welsh song Myfanwy, Men of Harlech and two bits in Italian from the Marriage of Figaro!

All in all, a very vocal day - but fantastic fun!

    Morning all.

    Freezing cold and windy here.

Just got a reminder from a certain learning centre that one of my granddaughters will be two next month. How could I forget that. LOL!

Sometimes it is the little things in life that can make your day.

Nice to hear you have all had a good weekend.

Loved listening to Richard Allison this morning.

    Afternoon each!

Now, where is our Christoph? Was this a planned break I missed or do we think a certain baby may be imminent? Not sure of due date. Lovely to hear Mr Allinson though..I do like him!

A good clear out as per our leaders blog is always a good thing. When the GM moved in I had a proper clear out to make space. Since then we have had many car boots and many clear outs...the joy of living with someone with mild OCD! The upside is that we now have nothing in the house that we don`t use and we (well he!) knows where everything is..always good when hunting passport, driving licences and such like! My wardrobe on the other hand is a whole different story!

CSN, I`ll have a brew please! Got some homemade pistachio chocolate brownies going if anyone wants one.... the bannoffee pie is all gone though :(

Debs - well done on your presentation and well done to your colleague..bless her not knowing about the money - what a lovely surprise!

    And Chrissie - you`ll be a fab grandma I`m sure! And I missed Moiras comment...but here`s a `wotcha` just for you!

Everyone else sounds like theyve had a lovely weekend... we went to friends Sat night then out for a late lunch yesterday. The GM is away from today til Friday so was nice to spend time together.... will miss him but my menu choices involve red meat every night this week..he doesnt eat it so indulge when he is not here!

Anyway, must get on.. hope everyone else is well and Monday is swooshing by quickly!

    Brew on!

Errands done ,tea and cake had and now sitting with feet up in front of the telly with film on .
it's been a lovely day hear lovely blue skies ,but still a cold wind.

Scooby, Can I borrow your GM ,need some one with ocd ,seeing that I'm a bit of a keep sake type of person and I'll keep it just in case ,It never happens . But I do know where things are lol.
Enjoy your meat feast this week ,we had a lovely rib eye on Saturday ,was rather yummy.

Crumpy ,yes sounds like you had a fab week end and you obviously enjoy your singing ,me can't sing a note .

CB, Thinking of going to Malvern for a few days ,well trying to get Ken to go . Went to the Three Counties Show there a couple of years ago and thought it was a pretty place .

    Be back later ...Bids.xxx.

Hiya Bids - he is available for hire but needs feeding and an occasional foot rub! And thanks, had a steak out yesterday to start my week!

Crumpy.. meant to mention your flash mob..sounds fun! Would love to do one but cant sing a note in tune so it would have to be dancing or something....
However, at said friends on Sat night we had had a couple and did the skiing thing on the computer... didnt think we did much but my thighs tell a different story..no dancing for me!

Right, brew and brownie consumed... back to work..

Afternoon each from sunny Fife. Had frost this morning but the sun soon melted it - and we didn't get the snow thank goodness, although I gather some of you did - bums to that.

Chrissie, you'll make a fab Gran.

Crumpy, what a wonderful musical day that sounds.

    Hello to everyone else.

Have had a lovely day with the man in the cupboard - took a picnic lunch to a local park and had a natter. We're trying to organise a weekend in Newcastle to see dear old Uncle, terminally ill friend and brother and family - all depends on when brother's kids are away so we can have their beds.

Sal, I only get sparrows and wood pigeons in my garden - I miss the wonderful variety of birds we saw in Carrbridge last October.

    Back in a bit. xxxx

Well it was back to work for me today, and the chaos that had occured whilst I was away was almost unbelievable... almost sorted now...

I took it easy, but I'm really tired now, so have my pj's on, feet up and resting to do it all again tomorrow.

Just waiting for my washing to finsh, and I'll make a stir fry for dinner.

Sounds like you all had good weekends...

    Hi everyone:

Just crazy busy at work, but trying to have a wee catch-up. Thank you to all you gorgeous ladies for your lovely comments. I wasn't "fishing" I promise! I just think that we have some lovely grans on this blog, and the lessons I am learning from you, I will remember, should the time come. xx

Sal: thank you for that lovely comment - such a lovely thing to say. And thanks for the re-assurance re: my voice. It is one of the hang-ups I have, I guess we alll have one or two! That's great you are getting help with the Celiac situation - I know from my friend that it is a difficult condition but once under control, you will feel so well. xx

Scoobs: thank you for my wotcha!

JG: hope you can take it a wee bit easy, just look after yourself. xx

Dozer: oooh, I am intrigued ... I'll be checking that out this evening! I find myself getting up earlier these mornings in order to hear a bit of Vanessa - she is really terrific. But, this morning I had a cheeky wee 15 mins extra in bed!

Hope everyone is ok - back into the fray!

    Afternoon All,

Bit quiet on here isn't it?

It's an average sort of day, weather wise, in North Kent. The wind has died down and it's not raining!

Bids, I hope you've managed to get a move on ;) xx

Chrissie, Always good to read you. You are right about the lovely Grans on this blog and as has been said when the times comes you will make an "ace" Gran/Nan xx

Hi Dozer, Hope the frost has cleared xx

Debs, Your staff bonding trip sounds great. I remember with much fondness Sales Conferences I used to attend (well organise) and one night seeing how many sales reps we could get into a phone box in Bournemouth - happy days indeed xx

lovely comments on the blog - Chrissie I'm sure you will make a lovely Nan, you seem so excited all ready :-)

Now I need some help - I want to do something out of my comfort zone and I can't think on anything - any ideas please?

Ali - thanks for the information on the street pastors, I hear what your saying about it being a commitment and maybe I should pass right now - I don't think I have time for a long term commitment at the moment - sad as that seems.

AliB: thank you, but you know, I always love reading you too. xx Re: Sales conferences: we used to have some crackers, and they definitely work for team building. Loving the idea of filling a phone box with sales reps!

Baggy: thank you, too. But I don't want to be misleading ... it's definitely not on the horizon, as far as I am lead to believe! Re: out of your comfort zone - just about everything is out of my comfort zone - I am a scaredy cat! Hope you can come up with something, and go for it!

Go anticlockwise around a shopping centre - Sezza and I did this on Saturday, it's really quite rebellious ;)
Go to work in your PJ's

    Chrissie,

When I worked in publishing the sales conferences were a hoot, I used to organise them so always had the suite, more often than not with big bottles of booze rather than the miniature ones. So everyone used to congregate in my room!

I remember one morning, after a very late night in the bar, (or course I wasn't drinking) going to the front desk with my friend as she wanted a wake up call. She said please could you wake me at 7:00am, the desk clerk said would that be in an hours time madam? We still chuckle about it today.

There are some stories I could tell!

I have kind off decided to oragnise a charity challenge in my gym to riase money for a little boy who needs new legs - as this involves me talking to people and being organised as well as exercise I would say that takes me out of my zone - now just need to get the gym to agree to it!

Glad you are getting back into your routine JG and feeling a little better.

I hear a whisper that a certain person is back from her hollibobs hope she isnt too suntanned and looking healthy otherwise we might have to ban her from coming back online until she has faded in her colouring. Only Joking Deevs if you are reading this glad you got home safe and sound.

    Hi everyone,

What a lovely post CSN (89).

We were hoping to do the Coast to Coast walk as a holiday this year but D has a sore foot and we wont be able to do a walking holiday, so we are considering a narrowboat for a week, however we have never done this before or even know anyone who has, have any of you been on one or can you recommend an area for us to go to??

Hope you all had a good day.

Am I the only one who thinks that "walking holiday" ( just like "fun run") is a contradiction in terms?
