This weather thing...

Chris Evans | 11:35 UK time, Friday, 9 December 2011

...it's more unpredictable than Angela Merkel after a bad night's sleep. I can't begin to tell you exactly how blue the sky is down here in London today. It's as blue as blue can be. It's bluer even than the bluest bluebird telling naughty jokes on Blue Year's Day. Stunning!

Anyway, it's not what's happening up in the air that's the biggest concern at the moment, but what the dickens is going on down here on earth? I have never witnessed uncertainty like this - not in my lifetime. The whole world seems to be posturing, but none of us really know what for.

The answer ?

Enjoy everything you have and NOW!!!

Peace and Love Brothers and Sisters.

Warmth Ter CLP & ALL On A Freezing December Day...

    Bingo Star 'ere...

CLP – Yes for sure the weather and INDEED the world is in a mess!!!!!!
Interesting times.... Ter add a bit of what a think about things...... Firstly our weather:

What amused me yesterdee though was all the TV reporters trying ter dramatise the weather!!!!!I
The reporters standing in a windy location SHOUTING at the camera!!!!!!
The most the beeb could find was a repeated image of 3 cars parked in 4 inches of water.... A mean it's 'ardly Japanese tsunami type flooding is it!!!!!
Ok it's not nice if the couple of trees that blew onter a car 'appened ter be your car.... Then it's VERY personal and bad... But weather wise.... In the UK nature is very gentle to us compared ter other areas of the world!!!!!
Recently over 600 people lost their lives in Thailand's flood with a fifth of the whole of Bangkok under water.... Yet it barely makes the news – know what am sayin'!!!!!
And the Japan tsunami throwing cars 60 feet in the air.... Now that is proper bad weather/ acts of nature!!!!!

As for the state of our world today.... The end of the world is predicted by The Mayans in December next year!!!!!
It's not like in the movies in which a BIG asteroid lands on New York.... what it is like is what we are witnessing now!!!!
It's a slow process in which slowly our world as we know it is ending.... A mean the mess that years of greed as got us into is mind boggling!!!!!
The problems with the EU presently is all due to insane politicians who signed up so many different countries into one... Yes it sound since ter all be one friendly family... But it doesn't work/ CAN'T work when there's so many different economies/ cultures throughout Europe!!!!!!
Coupled with less productive countries sponging off the Euro pot of money.... And of course the whole thing can only lead to failure!!!!
Why do the politicians in Europe think all will be ok with a new treaty???
It won't... a mean yerv got countries like Spain with 47% unemployment amongst young people.... Yes 47%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The numbers are almost too much to take in!!!!!!
Sadly due to excessive living and greed... Our world as we know it is failing!!!!!!
Europe I'm sure will fall apart!!!!!!
The double dip recession I've long predicted and written about on the blog is coming too!!!!!
Like I've written before... All the numbers don't add up.... In London where are the jobs to pay for the outrageously 'igh rents/ property prices???
And if you are very lucky/ successful with a VERY well paid job.... why do you want to pay 500k plus for a small flat??????
Is this your reward for 'ard work/ success?????
If I 'ad 500k to spend on a property I'd want a large 'ouse with gardens.... Not be trapped in a small 1 bed flat!!!!!
I could go on and on but the numbers just don't add up!!!!!!

A recession normally is good for an economy as it pulls things back into line.... 'ouse prices drop... Bad companies fail... And then the economy starts a new stronger period of boom!!!!!!!
But our recent recession 'as 'ardly changed anything..... The government 'ave simply tried ter sort out our 'igh borrowing by borrowing more.... Which makes the problem worse!!!!!
We already 'ave gone bust both 'as a country but also as a world economy!!!!!

BIG, BIG, BIG changes I think are coming soon in which our world as we know it now will end.... And a new beginning for us all will start!!!!!!

I just 'ope that the collapse that's coming won't lead to war like the 1920's depression did!!!!!
I like to think modern America & Europe are too wise to revert to war (despite our Middle East wars recently).

The two other things that very much worry me are Iran developing a nuclear bomb!!!!!
WHY are we letting them develop nuclear facilites?????
Will they use it to destroy Israel as 'as been threatened by Iran?????
I 'ope not but this would come into line with the battle of Armageddon that some predict will 'appen near Israel!!!!!!

And the other area I see trouble is with North Korea who are developing nuclear weapons!!!!
The leader who's 'ealth is failing is bringing talk of 'is son becoming the new president!!!!!
If this 'appens I see BIG trouble!!!!!!!
I've seen it so many times before that the son of a leader, who normally isn't as clever 'as 'is father, even if 'is father is a crazy dictator, normally it's the father who is more clever... The son is normally somebody who 'as been brought up in a rich kid type of upbringing and is less wise than 'is father!!!!!
Yet if 'e gets 'is father's power.... Then 'e will try & out do 'is father by basically doing bigger things.... Often of which are very unstable/ cause big problems!!!!!!!
This was very evident with the Bush family of 2 U.S presidents!!!!!!
Son as I 'eard George W Bush was the son of the former president.... The first thing I said is this president will cause BIG problems... And look what 'appened!!!!!

All I write above may not come true... Nobody knows what the future will 'old for us all.... Simply what I write is food for though of some of the most serious problems that are facing our world presently!!!!!!
Only time will tell if the world at the end of next year does go through the predicted BIG change!!!!!!

100% for sure though.... Presently something BIG is 'appening to our world!!!!!

    'ope this 'elps!!!!!!!

    Bye!

Penny - Actually am still ill, not that am after sympathy!!!!!!

Only this morning ave been ter see me doc again ter get stronger anti-biotics ter kicj this superbug 'ave 'ad for 3 weeks terdee exactly!!!!!!!!

This is another area a forgot ter mention about the end of the world too.... Bugs will get stronger until antibiotics are useless.... Am a witnessing this with me present throat problem???????
    Maybe.... maybe not!!!!!!!

All a can say is me recent temperature of 105 whilst in 'ospital was 1.5f from being classed as a medical emergency.... Am just glad a pulled through all!!!!!!!!!

This is no ordinary throat bug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Afternoon comrades!

Bingo, me auld china, I was exhausted before I read your post. Now I know for sure I need to go and lay down in a dark room with a hot water bottle!

And Baggles, well done on becoming a Fellow! I think Nic's a CIMA (?) if that means anything to anyone....!?!?!

Well, I've had a mixed morning. On the good side, I've pretty much boxed off the Christmas shopping - all in Cannock, would you believe!?!? Just a couple more stocking fillers to get for my fella and then it's the wraping marathon bit. I might tackle that Sunday as I think he's going out to do his Christmas shopping so I'll be home alone.

Had a bit of a fright in the Post Office - we're off to India next year to visit my mum so I'm in the throes of sorting out the visas. The visa people don't take cheques - it has to be a bankers draft or postal order, so I thought get a postal order - sorted! Anyhooo, the bill in the post office came to £120. I produced my debit card only to be told in front of a massive queue, it's cash only! UUUGGGHHHHH!!!! After a bit of shuffling about, the man let me withdraw the cash to pay for the visa fees but the woman behind me in the queue was tutting and huffing so much I felt really uncomfortable. Just didn't need it to be honest!

And then the delights of the weekly shop at that supermarcardo that CLP is doing the voice overs for. Packed doesn't even come close. Anyways, all done now and home, unpacked and ready for luncheon.

I might make some muffins this arvo for MiniNic over the weekend.

AliB - I hope you're enjoying your Mexican Christmas lunch and that in keeping with the Mexican party spirit, there's a pinata to bash about for sweeties!

Right, still a few bits to put away so I'll be back later.

    Muchos amore.

Deev - yes CIMA is the chartered insitute of management accountants - so that sounds good to me.

I am a fellow of the association of chartered certified accountants

The other main accountancy body in the UK is the insitute of England and Wales (ACA)

    Keeping up?

  • Comment number 13.

    Baggy - So you're a FCMA now!
I never bothered with it tbh. It's just more fees to pay every year!
Had my photos for the Visa done today before the dentist (that's not say before I went to the dentist, not actually in front of the dentist!) and I look like a police mug shot, shortly after having being arrested!

All these bodies and numbers ..... just give me a calculator (or abacus) - that's about my limit!

I had my visa pic done today too. I've not seen "his" mugshot yet but I need my barnet sorting ....!

I think all the excitement of Christmas shopping has caught up with me (or maybe just age) - I've got a splitting headache and feel really achey. Bleugh!

    Hi again

I'm back on the lappy for now. I like the ipad but I think it will take a bit of getting used to. Besides I had to come on here to reset one of my passwords (it didn't give me the option on the app....) plus it looks like I can't play the FB games on there it keeps going to another app to download games (which I don't want to do at the moment). No doubt I will eventually get the hang of it. I need to find the Kindle app and put it on there so that I can read books at work and on hols etc... it fits nicely in my handbag....

    Finally relaxing with a G&T.

As far as the weather is going, we've had the blue skies followed by torrential rain (with what looked like some sleet), now a clear night (stars & moon and everything) and quite chilly.

I was going to go shopping, but on checking, Bolton are at home at 3pm, and their ground is right by the retail park I need to go to, so I've postponed it until tomorrow. It'll be busy enough as it is, without adding the footie fans as well!

Hallo, is everyone out shopping? According to youngest son everyone in the world is. He popped into his local shop to get a bottle of wine for me as a thank you for having the 6yr old overnight and nearly had a coronary. Afraid he takes after his mother and hates queues.

Well, the 2yr old didn't make it here because of the snow but the 9yr old and 6yr old and I met up with Santa and, bless them both, they only asked for 'a surprise' on Christmas Day.

    Snow is melting thank goodness.

Our 6 year old wrote a letter to Santa and said she didn't mind what he gave her because everything he leaves is lovely. Don't you just love them.

    Happy Birthday ChrissieS

    Morning all

Feeling a bit bettererer today. Can't really explain the weekend - I just felt totally CBA and somewhat tearful, which is most unlike me this time of year. I guess I'm just really missing my mum in India (roll on February!) and my bestest friends down Suffolk way. And my dad. Always miss my dad - sometimes more than other times of year.

But today is a new day, and the Christmas countdown has well and truly kicked in.

One thing I am discovering is that not many businesses are thinking about placing new business this time of year, so, today I am toodling down to "the Swedish meatball furniture shop" to try and find something for Nic's mum for Christmas. I'm hoping I don't get lost as last time I was there I couldn't find my way out - just rows and rows of shelving spattered with the odd free-standing tinsel display. Scary!

I've also decided to bring to ChezNic something that my family used to do every Christmas. It always happened on Christmas night when I was a child and in many ways was the highlight of Christmas Day. I don't want to say too much in case Nic pops on here during his lunch break but I've decided I'm going to do this thing on New Year's Eve as we've got Nic's lad and Grandma here this year, so an evening of family-ness, games and party food will hopefully be the order of the night!

Right, enough waffle. Time to go and don my knee and elbow pads and head off down the M6 for a junction or 3.

Good morning, Don't understand why my comment was moderated, this is the explanation I received by e-mail. It was just a little poem about a Scottish Fairy, I did check it first and didn't realise there was anything in it to make it be moderated.

"Your comment was considered to have broken the following House Rule:

"We reserve the right to fail comments which...

Break the law or condone or encourage unlawful activity. This includes breach of copyright, defamation and contempt of court.""

Oh well, back later when I've thought of my advent guess.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISSIE!!!!!

Hope everyone is OK ..... speshly those of you north of the border with the wintry weather!

Went and saw Sarah Millican on Friday night ... she was brilliant and it was real "laugh 'til you cry" stuff. If you get a chance to see her then I thoroughly recommend you go.

Had a quiet weekend but this weekend's it's the mum and brother of 'im indoors coming down for a pre-Christmas nosh and present exchange. Still can't get excited about Christmas, although I can't wait to finish work on the 22nd!

    Take care all.

    Morning all

Happy birthday Chrissie have a lovely day.

Deev's if we havent heard from you by this evening with the advent calendar answer I shall pop down to the store to find you. Havent got a saint bernard with a small brandy barrel round its neck will a artheritic jack russell with a small bottle of vino round its next do instead.

Not feeling at all Christmassie I am afraid I got told off again yesterday by Mr Bar Humbug himself and told to get with the beat baggie as christmas is arriving one way or another. Did get loads done in the house though which was very productive.

We went away last year for Christmas and New Year to the sunshine and there is no way that this christmas can ever live up to that one as last year was relaxing and superb. So decision made next year we are doing christmas at home and New Years Eve in the sun (he made the decision not me).

Oh Jillygoat we invested in several comedy DVD's this weekend including Sarah's to watch over the festive season, she does make me giggle I follow her on chirpy chirp chirp too.

Anyway my guess for the calendar is still a woollen bobble hat.

Only 9 working days left and then just over a week off, huzzah.

Have a good Monday everyone only another 2 Mondays of 2011 left.

    Morning All,

xxxxx HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOVELY CHRISSIE xxxxx

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend, it was a bit nippy down south on Saturday and rather wet yesterday. Today clear blue skies, but my office is freezing, haven't taken my scarf off yet!!

Advent guess is a sledge :)

Love Sarah Millican, did look to buy tickets for her tour but they were all sold out :(

I'm the same as you CB, finish at lunchtime on the 23rd and then back on the 3rd, can't wait.

Not feeling 100% today, got a very poorly neck and shoulder, didn't sleep well at all last night and in a lot of pain today. Not really sure what to do with myself, last time it was this bad I ended up in A&E!! Might pop to the pharmacist to get some strong pain killers at lunchtime :( Right that's enough of the self pity - onward and upward :)

    Hi everyone:

Thank you all SO MUCH for the lovely birthday wishes! What a great bunch of people frequent this wonderful blog. xx

And, I have a cake from Katy - thank you - I am made up!

I am having a lovely day so far. MrS gave me the most beautiful card this morning - makes me wonder if there's something afoot! Nah, only joking!

We are going to the love nest this evening for dinner: me, MrS and the BF's mum who has more or less adopted MsS. It's terrific that they get on so well, just lovely really.

CSN: sorry you have not been well. You take care, and get well soon. xx

AliB: what a shame you are in so much pain. Yes, get yourself those painkillers. xx

Cheryl: oooh, it's horrible when we get the blues. Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. xx My guess for the Advent calendar is: a drummer boy.

    Happy Monday everyone!

Just popped in to see what was going on and it seems I've chosen exactly the right day - Many happy returns to the lovely Chrissie x

Chezza - I feel exactly the same as you; sadly I lost my mam in September which means I am now officially an orphan which is so, so weird. The house sale has gone through really quickly too so I feel a bit rootless with no "base" in the North East.

Hey ho, and on we go. Big daughter is already back from her first term at Oxford and keeping us right on everything. Younger one is having her knee reconstructed next week - fun fun fun.

Good to see all the old familiars around - a big hello to anyone who remembers me, and have yourselves a merry little Christmas.

The christmas felling is here now in the Bids household as the tree went up at the w/end and all cleaning done ,so now just some shopping to be done then it will be feet up for a very relaxing xmas .
One things I do miss though is not buying for the grandchildren as now they want money for all the gadgets that they play with these days.
Just off out now to do a couple of errands while its nice .

part 2 - having trouble postsing!

Spent the weekend hauling the furniture around to make space to put both leaves up on the dining table, ready for Christmas lunch and also to find a corner, near plug sockets, for the tree.

It is up, with three sets of white lights and my ancient selection of red, green, silver and gold baubles plus the ones that have been bought over the years for Adam by friends and me. If I do say so myself, it looks lovely.

Decided last night that I wanted to make a christmas cake. It smelt lovely when it came out of the oven and I now have about 10 days to 'feed' it before I marzipan and ice it.

Most cards were written last night and I will be leaving the office earlier today so that I can catch the post office before it shuts as I have run out of stamps and I also have a couple to go to France - probably should have posted them last week!

  • Comment number 85.

seems I am having trouble spelling as well as 'postsing!!'

    last bit, honest ...

Ali - hope your aches are soon gone. You need a masseuse (sp?) with warm, strong hands!

Deevs - don't spend too much in the meatballs store - it's very tempting and I'm sure you will come away with a set of scissors and some 'clippits' - I know I always do!

    Advent calendar guesses:
    Deevs one - mistletoe
    Dozy's - hi-vis jacket!

Lovely to see everyone else but work beckons again so
    ttfn, Crumpy xx

  • Comment number 86.

I'm back! And yes, I got more meatballs .....!

Boleyngirl - so lovely to see you, and I am really sorry to learn about your mum. I know how you feel with the "orphan" thing - my dad died in 2005 very suddenly, and my mum spends half the year in India so it's not so easy to just pick the phone up for a gossip. I do think of you every week when Nic and I go dancing - it's the cha Cha and the "turkish towel" bit - always makes me smile thinking of when you recalled your wedding dance lessons on here.

    Where does the time go?

Nic - yes, you ought to be intrigued my love. All will be revealed on 31st December! x

Huge huggles to poorly poppets, and everyone else, because I'm in a huggles kind of mood. So there .....

Loving the guesses. Keep 'em coming.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISSIE!!! I hope you have a fab time tonight!

It's my brother's birthday too, he's stuck in the office with too much to do, poor lad!

Sorry I've missed a few days advent guessing, and my posting probs mean that my candy cane guess now belongs to Pen... thinks.... ok, my guess is a partridge in a pear tree.

Sending hugs to all and hoping for better health, good weather and quiet shops n roads, well, we can hope, eh?!

    me again.

Having a really lovely day, I must say. I went for lunch with two of the guys I work with - a beautiful Chinese meal which I tried very hard not to eat too much of - have to eat dinner tonight, too!

Thank you all, really, for the lovely messages - it's just so nice to share my birthday with some lovely people.

boleyngirl: great to see you here. I am so sorry to hear about your Mum - it is so very hard. xx I hope you will pop back in before Santa arrives, but if not, take care and I wish you a good Christmas. xx

Crumpy: och, that Donny, he wriggles about too much! Thanks for thinking of me, though! And, I am the same, I love all my old tree decorations - cannot part with them.

Bids: yes, indeed, dinner being made by the lovely MsS tonight. She said: I hope you don't mind, it'll just be M&S. I said: sounds perfect, Toots! I know what you mean about when children grow up and they would just prefer money rather than gifts. Ooooh, they just grow up too fast!

BIG HUGS for everyone who would like one just now

This really is the time of year that makes us look around and realise what and who we are missing in our life and also makes us count our blessings when we see what good we have around us

I think this is a good time to take some quiet time for ourselves before the approaching madness

    Evening,

Sezza ,you said it all in just that one post .Yes hoefully I will pop in and say hello .

Bolyngirl ,so soryy to hear of you sad news ,it's always these times that bring people together and although we miss our loved ones all of the time our thoughts at this time of year seem to bring them to the fore.

Country girl ,it's also the same for you this year ,you need to go through the first aniversary and the first birthdat etc..It does get a little better with time ,but your parents never ever leave your heart .
So both of you and for anyone else that's had a loss of a parent ,put your hand to your heart and you will willl feel them with every beat of your heart as though they are within you .

It's ten years now since I lost my parents ,and what I try and do is ,do my best and lead the life that I think that would make them proud even today and by doing that I feel that they are watching over me albeit from a different place..

Night ,night all and God Bless .
