Good morning Christoff - Merry Monday to you Sir!

I have to say your day sounds a lot betterererer than mine: I have the delights o copy typing an entire Lease today because the electronic version has gawn astray. No doubt there will also be some numbers to put into a spreadsheet that nobody ever looks at, and the odd numpty on the phone asking such daft questions as "Who am I?" (shall I point them to the Prof ....?)

The fun for me begins at 5.00 pm. An after work swim, a bit of Frankie Boyle by the pool whilst I await my man fresh from the gym, then a lovely sauna and home for "on toast" night - pilchards for me, beans for Himself.

Weekend was lovely, albeit too short. Census form completed although I wasted far too much time looking for those Persons 3, 4, 5 and 6 ........

Right, time to go get glammed up for work (why?!?!?!) and pack the swimminmg bag.

    Loving your work!

Jillygoat, thats excatly what my Nanna has, she has a TIA about every year but other then that is okay, but it is knocking out her short to medium term memory which is sad to see go.

Bit sad to do the census, last time I did it I was student, with my real name and lots of hopes and desires, now I'm a married lady with life well and truely shattered and a new name :-(

    Morning Chris,

Have a lovely time in the garden, I was out in my garden all day yesterday - Mr. CG & I are building a deck out front so we can sit with a glass of summat in the evenings & watch the sun go down. Hard work, buy oh so worth it.

Is Noah growing things in his own patch of the garden?

I hope Beth is better today, or it won't just be dead leaves you're clearing away!!

Happy Monday all you lovely Bloggeroonies ...........

Good Morning Chris and fellow bloggers!

Sounds like a good day to me. :)

Chris, I just wanted to say that the Breakfast programme last Friday with Babs was fabulous. You were both great company on the 250 mile journey to Cumbria. Barbara? What a gal and such a good sport! I also caught your interview on JV, so pleased that you have now managed to get your head around the feelings you have for your daughter, Jade. You have two wonderful children to be proud of.

Annie, I hope that you had a brilliant birthday. I love reading your posts both here and next door.

Rips, what a lovely chap you are! Your post here was very eloquent, the lubrication obviously aided the thought processes!!

MTF - so sad to hear that Puffball has gone to that great garage in the sky. What a fabulous car he/she has been. I have been daftly sentimental about some of my cars, must go back to the days when I was little and my Dad would give his cars names! I even had a lump in my throat when I changed my last car. Silly, I know! x

    Enjoy your swim Deevs.

Great to hear that you are having a fantastic holiday, Bingo.

And to everyone else, hope you all have a fab week.

    Mcw x

Jilly, sorry to hear about your Mum. It must be quite worrying for you. So pleased that she managed to be home with your Dad to celebrate their anniversary. Good luck with the house move.

  • Comment number 8.

Jilly, I'm so sorry - I haven't had time to catch up on the blog so I didn't know about your mum. Believe me, I really do know what you've been going through, and I'm thinking of you. Keep strong and enjoy any time you are able to spend with her.

Bingo - sounds like your holiday is excitement by the minute!

    Upwards and onwards everyone........

It's freezing here today!! Well, really, truely I suppose it's not but I am so cold. Brrr.

Caught a glimpse of the sun earlier but it seems to have changed its mind

I bought a new rake thing last weekend but can't get into the garden for the next few days because I'm not allowed to walk on the patio yet!

Hi Chris: hope you are enjoying your time in the garden sounds like hard work! I woke up this morning feeling really tired, missing my lost hour over the weekend, but within two minutes of listening to you, at 6.35, I was bright as a button! xx

Annie: glad to see you had a lovely birthday.

Jillygoat: I am so sorry to hear about your mum - that was lovely she was home for the wedding anniversary. Thinking of you, take care. xx

Hope everyone is ok - happy Monday!

I cheated years ago when our dog at the time decided it could dig for Britain - paved the garden except for the tiniest bit of a bed around the edges. Smashing - every now and again I miss having more flower bed and lawn but then I just plant up the odd pot pour a bevvy, sit back and think nah its fine. Reduces the job to one of occasional pottering rather than a slog.
Off to the cinema tomorrow night to see Giselle in 3D...get me...who knew...isn't technology marching on?! Will let you know what I thought of it ballet at the flicks - what will they think of next?
BingoStar - would like to see the Reggae Groove...YouTube? :o)

Good, good moirning all, and there abouts....I think the most courageous act carried out by me recently was to dare to reach and open the window for a very angry bee/or hornet (it was black with a red bottom and a black very sharp looking pointy tail). It was humungous and causing quite a commotion at my bedroom window. He flew out and off, up and away. Pheweee!!!!! No praise required, I already gave myself a pat on the back. Well done me!!!!!

A dish of water with a rock in it is recommended in the garden for the bees to drink from when they get thirsty.

Could you count the bees in your garden Chris and impress Noah with your knowledge at tea time?!

    Lots of love xx

    Morning All,

I must admit to being fast asleep when you blogged, but like some others on here I am suffering from jet lag, due to losing that one hour! Enjoy your time in the garden, I must admit on sunny days I wish I had a garden, but I shall be content with my balcony and my tubs which MummyBaba does so nicely for me.

Seeza, I too am cold today, what's that about. I've even turned the hearing back on in my office and my cardi hasn't come off today xx

Jilly, Sorry to hear about your Mum xx sending prayers and positive vibes xx

Bingo, Glad you are having a good time xx

I'm on holiday next week and I can't wait. I haven't had a day off this year and boy do I need a break and a change of scenery!

I have to admit to being a bit disappointed that the census was so short for one person. I was ready to get my teeth into it and then it was over. I almost made up persons 2-6 just for fun :) I remember 10 years ago filling it in as I had just moved into my flat and felt so grown up that I could do it myself and not be person 3 on my parents form.

    Happy Monday Everyone

    Morning All,

Chris I hope you are enjoying your hard work in the garden - if I lived nearer I would supply you with your trophy cups of tea.

It's another lovely sunny day here but I too am so cold - my feet are like blocks of ice and I've still got my jacket on.

Can I join the jet lagged group. I love spring and the light nights but wish we didn't have to change the clocks, I just start to get used to it when it's time to change them back again.

Jilly - I'm so sorry to hear about your mum, sending her lots of love and prayers. It was so nice your mum and dad got to spend their anniversary at home.

    Have a good day folks.

Thank you all for your kind wishes. You're right Baggy - each stroke/TIA takes a little bit of the speech/memory. Mum was just starting to get her confidence back too and now she's as frustrated as hell.

The stroke and subsequent TIA both happened at home but this time she was waiting for a bus when she just collapsed. Luckily dad was with her and managed to catch her before she banged her head on the ground. I dread to think what could have happened if she'd been out on her own as she didn't regain consciousness until she was in the ambulance. Dad's 80 and has a bad heart, and he's looking worse than mum at the moment. They're at the warfarin clinic this morning so I hope they can get to the bottom of what's going on.

    Hope everyone else is well. Happy birthday to anyone I've missed, and hugs to those who need them {{{hugs}}}}

jilly, my Nanna is on her own now and does do things on her own so it is a worry. Luckily the few times she has had them shes been at her home and the warden (its sheltered accomodation) has picked up that shes had one and got her to hospital.

There is an operation she can have but at 83 we are worried we may lose her through the operation.

    Hello CE & Everyone.

That sounds like a good sort of a day Chris. I'm doing similar but without the early start or the work in the garden, it will be sitting in the garden for me.

I've enjoyed watching Wonders Of The Universe, Prof Brian Cox explains it all so well that I can actually understand it most of the time but it is all very mind boggling and makes me wonder why the universe started in the first place. Enough of that, it's too much!

Back to the garden with the squirrels, cats and birds.

CLP - Your day sounds absolutely perfect, especially if the weather is as lovely down there as it is here.

Well we had our first outing in the caravan at the weekend, got there at the back of 6 on Friday night so just parked up and went to the nearby pub for dinner then bed, Saturday morning we walked about 6 miles (round trip) to the shop to buy toothbrushes, as we had forgotten ours, the shop didn't have any so we walked back and bought them in the site shop!, after breakfast we walked to Rowardennan, we were going to go up Ben Lomond but decided we didn't have enough time to go up and down the mountain, have dinner and then walk the 6 or so miles back to the site, all before the back of 7 when it's dark, so just sat and enjoyed the scenery, went a walk along the forest track and then went for late lunch/early dinner and walked back to the site, we couldn't get the TV to work so ended up driving into Drymen to buy a couple of DVDs, all in all we had a great weekend and can't wait till our next outing.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend.

    X

Sezza - I feel posh frock and tiara may look a trifle ott with the real 'special' looking 3D glasses. We would need a whole hen party of gals to pull that one off rather than just me and my sis and as I am going straight from cleaning at my mother-in-laws I think I will be going full out if I remember to take my marigolds off - sharp dresser to the end
Gail - glad your outing went so well it sounds just the ticket to unwind. Lovely
Baggy - I don't really remember being the original me as I married young and seem to have spent all my adult life being a wife (x2). That said I love my life now I feel very lucky and blessed with my family and friends...still don't know what I want to be when I grow up though...perhaps my grand-daughter will be able to help me decide. If you're happy don't worry about the lable we're all going to call you Baggy anyway so no worries there Mrs....

As others have said I've been married so long can barely remember me before I was Mrs PJ - isn't that the point though - we become different people - according to the life we're living at the time. Hello.

I had a big dilemma when I remarried and I remember getting lots of advice on here at the time. I had been Anne Boleyn (not really) for so long that the idea of changing again seemed overwhelming, added to which I didn't want a different name to my daughters. Also I am known professionally as Mrs Boleyn and my husband's name is one of those that the children at school would have fun being silly with, it being easily turned into an edible bird.

Finally, my new (ish) Mother-in-Law has the same Christian name as I do, as does my new (ish) Sister-in-Law, which would have made me Anne "First half of an edible bird" the 3rd, and I don't really want to be anything "the 3rd".

So I remain Anne Boleyn to all but am happy to be referred to as the other name by those (incuding my own mother, who thinks it is illegal not to take your husband's name) who simply cannot believe how contrary I am. Boleynman is happy enough with this; he actually does believe how contrary I am and I like to think he loves me in part for my contrariness.

By the way Chrissie, each Shardlake novel stands alone but as they are all set in the reign of Henry the VIII (shudder) then it makes more sense to read them chronologically; otherwise, apart from anything else, the wives will be in the wrong order which you may find discombobulating.

    Afternoon all

Interesting how we feel about what we are called. My real surname is quite rare and being a bloke unlikely to change, it's also what I've answered to for probably 30 odd years as most people who know me don't use my first name for some reason.

I think some bloke called Will said something on this topic as

"what's in a name, that we call rose by any other name would smell as sweet"

Baggy I think as other people have said it's not what the label says that's important but who you are. I realise taht this is something important and am not belittling it.

As an alternative, did you ever discuss with Mr bp about him changing to your name?

Baggy: I understand that this name thing is a very big deal for you, but quite honestly, I am half-Irish and I do object to you saying that Irish names are common. I have an extremely Irish maiden name, and I absolutely love it.

Chris, that definitely sounds ok. Haven't ventured into the garden yet to refresh the pots, although my baby fuschias are now taking over the kitchen windowsill, along with a couple of geraniums. A few weeks yet before I can plant them safely I think.

Spent today with the totally daft 15month old granddaughter. She's a proper madam, with a mad sense of humour. About 4.30 I told her I was exhausted and going to read my book for a bit - she was up my jumper, up the sleeve of my cardi, roaring at me to look at her, standing on the table. This girl will not be ignored.

Haven't caught up yet but I see MTF has a new car!!! Well, what is it?

Annie, little girl sounds like a barrel of fun. You've got your hands full haven't you!

MC, don't bother with the sign - you might get some interesting donations!

    Hi All

Just to jump in - I had my original name for 23 years and have nearly had my married name for 33 years and as others have said you grow in to it. You probably would change and grow anyway. Anyway I'm just Susan really and the last bit doesn't matter.
Really eager to know what Stacey had got to replace Puffball?

    Love to all

    Sus xx

Baggy, please don't think I'm being rude but if you are so happily married why does your name change bother you so much.

When I married Mr CSN many moons ago, I wasn't even thinking about my name changing. I have never felt that I have lost my own identity because of it, in all the years that we have been married.

    Super Bagpuss

You have absolutely no reason to apologise for your earlier post.

As I see it you were merely staing an honest opinion and in no way trying to upset anyone.

There are people on this blog who find, nay seek out, offence where none was intended. It allows them to get all indignant and self righteous. I should know as I have been on the end of it on many an occasion. My advice, for what its worth, is to just ignore them and just continue expressing your opinions.

Sezza, she's daft as a box of frogs but I love her sense of humour. We have a great time on Mondays.

Right, now I'm going to have to go up and down because I want to say stuff to people, so I may be some time.

Ali - your mum does your pots? I am that woman and you are my daughter!!

Jilly - your poor mum, TIA's are so debilitating - and your poor dad, he must be really struggling.

Chrissie & Mary - hallo to my partners in crime.

CSN - I hope you are resting up, time that virus was gone.

Dozey - your caravan sounds lovely. And what are you thinking of? Climbing up Ben Lomond, indeed.

    Madchicks - Hallo.

Oh, and by the way - I'm Scottish and Irish and dead common.

Haven't really caught up, but have picked up on Baggy's name change issue...

I've, so far, had 4 different names...I'm now sticking with my current one, with my ex's blessing, as I would have no idea what to change it too...

    Morning you lot!

Not feeling so achey today - I think the swim after work did the trick, although it was a mammouth struggle to be honest (I mamaged 50 minutes in the end). Also had a good night's sleep which was much needed.

Funny how that extra hour and a glitch on a certain mobile phone app can make you feel so tired!

Long day ahead today: I think everyone is in the office so no blogging for me until lunch time. Instead I have the delights of a Lease to copy type (saved from yesterday as a real treat!) and about 50 contracts to scan in and archive electronically. Rock and indeed roll!

On the name change thingy, I couldn't wait to get rid of my maiden name as it was the cause of much bullying in the playground as a child and I hated it. I like my surname now, even though it's originator and myself are now divorced. It just kind of works better than my maiden name did to be honest. Although, who knows - maybe there will be another name change in the future ..... and I won't be complaining, but a new signature will be a bit of a challenge!

Baggy, my only real "issue" with you is how your first comment of yesterday would be received, should it be read by MrBP. To say "now I'm a married lady with life well and truely shattered and a new name" I feel could be very hurtful to your lovely husband (note to bloggers- I've met MrBP a few times and he is divine!). Please just think about how you would have felt had you read something similarly worded, posted by MrBP. Then go home after work and give that man the biggest huggle you can without crushing the poor fella!

Right, time for me to get ready for work. The joy ......

Have a lovely day, one and all.

Hope you get on ok csn. A few years back I had "Proper Flu" that developed into bronchitis. It hung on for weeks and weeks and finally my GP put me on steriods, which shifted it. I've had a weakness for coughs ever since though.

    Good luck.

    Morning All,

From a cloudy North Kent, although I think the sun is trying to break through!

Annie, I'd be proud to have you as my Mum xx However, I am not sure what my lovely Mum would have to say about it. She does do fab tubs for me, which bring a ray of colour to my balcony.

csn, Let's hope the Doc can sort you out. Perhaps kks is right you need a tonic, my Auntie Bertha (not that she was my real auntie) would swear by Metatone.

Deevs, Have a nice day scanning and typing!! xx ;)

    Morning

All misty and frosty and sunny and beautiful here today. Just the day to be stuck in the office - not!

Never mind, I have the joys of getting glasses fixed later and seeing if the glue has come out of the trousers!

KKs, So good to see you're better enough to get back to work. Take care though, make sure you don't do to much to soon and put yourself back

CSN, Does sound like you need some of that tonic, (((x)))

Ali, why you stick pins in a map? What's it done to you? ;-)

Deevs, you watch out, typing that lease - too much excitement could be bad for you.

Me, I've got an electrician and a plumber to call, it's a real thrill isn't it!

    Have fun

    Sezza xxxx

  • Comment number 94.

LOL Sezza! Well, after a disappointingt weigh-in this morning (stayed the same AGAIN - that's 2 weeks now) maybe typing the Lease will kick-start my metabolism into "excitement mode" .......... or maybe not!

Be gentle with the electrician and the plumber: 2 tradesmen - now that's just greedy!!

Hi everyone: just having a wee catch-up as usual:

MC: your furniture story really made me laugh. Pre-MsS, we moved into a lovely new flat and had to wait 3 weeks for the curtains, 6 weeks for the suite. We sat on garden chairs in the living room, with net curtains at the windows and honestly, we loved it! It was like a wee adventure. Mind you, it was great to get real curtains and furniture eventually!

MTF: news on the blog should always continue, no matter what. Really looking forward to hear about Puffball's sister!

Annie: sounds like you had a very busy day! I think you are a terrific Grandmother.

CSN: really hope the doctor can help you today.

kks: good to see you are getting better, but be very careful you don't do too much, ok?

Sezza: good luck with the tradesmen - speaking of which, our office window cleaner is the most gorgeous man I have ever seen carrying a bucket ... sorry, I was a little distracted just then!

Cheryl: I bet you see a big difference on the scale next week. Just hang in there - I wish I had done that, in days gone by!

Jillygoat: thinking of you xx Just to let you know, I watched that clip last night, and I laughed until I cried! I have seen those ladies before, perhaps on Graham Norton? But I had never seen that performance before - absolutely brilliant!

    Have a good day, everyone.

Howdy doody everyone, just popping in quickly to say hi! Have caught up but cant remember doh!

One thing about names - I use my ex's for my "legal" stuff -banks etc, but my maiden name for work so even I forget who I am supposed to be at times LOL!

Part of me should change back to being the "old" me - but a) its massive the amount of things I need to change and b) it really narks the current Mrs B that I am still a Ms B - ha ha ha (witchy laugh there!)

Is it thursty thursday yet - bums no
    hey ho Happy Tuesday everyone

Oh and CLP - thanks so much for playing Lulu this morning - I was singing at the top of my voice driving up the M6 - and scarily was word perfect - as opposed to "tune perfect"...

CSN - hope you get that tonic you need

Chrissie - thank you x Really glad you enjoyed the clip - there are some links to more of their stuff from there. My friend saw their show in Guildford last year and she said it was just brilliant. It cheered me up no end!!

Name changes - hmmm, I've been married twice and divorced twice and the surname I use is my last married name. It's by far and away the best of all three names that I've had over the years, and although I'm not married any more, it's the one I feel most comfy using and I'm still referred to as Mrs ....

It's personal choice isn't it and although 'im indoors doesn't understand why I keep the 'Mrs' bit, he accepts it's what I've been used to for the last 15 years. Of course, he could do the decent thing and propose ........!

Deevs - I can understand your disappointment but at least you've stayed the same weight! Good luck for next week x

    Enjoy the sunshine x

    Hello Everyone.

A bit cooler here today but the light evenings are nice.

My highlight of the day is that I've just ordered a new coffee table from the river people to replace the one with the dodgy leg. Such excitement.

Bingo-OMG I can-t believe you've never been that far away from home LOL!

Baggy-I don't know what you're worried about, you even have royal initials!

Looking forward to Chris's new blog, we are almost at 100!
