Happy Christmas Everyone!

Chris Evans | 09:50 UK time, Wednesday, 26 January 2011

It's our Christmas lunch today. The perfect way to tinsel up a dreary reluctant Wednesday morning. More people should have their works Christmas do's in January - it's the way forward. Something to look forward too - December hogs the limelight anyhow, and restaurants need the extra business in their quietest month of the year.

And we don't have to have turkey !!!

Result.

Having said that, I actually quite like turkey. Anyway - Bon Noel and see you tomorrow - hopefully.

    Have a great lunch CLP.

We had another Christmas dinner on Sunday, it was perfick.

None of the usual madness that surrounds Christmas, much more relaxed.

Turkey sarnies again today, the stock pot is bubbling away with the carcass in it.

Hi everyone else, hope everything is ok.

I have missed loads on the blog this week - so hugs to everyone who needs them.

Maddy: I did see your comment about chip butties in Liverpool!

It's grey, wet and miserable in Kent today but at least it's hump day - hurrah!

Deevs - hope you're well enough for the gig tonight. Get well soon to you and anyone else who's feeling poorly at the mo xx

I've got a meeting at 2pm - the agenda has 18 items on it and it's due to finish at 5pm - what are the chances, eh?!! Should've brought my PJ's and duvet in with me ...

A can fully confirm me new girlfriend is.... a girl... but a won't go inter detail 'ere know, sorry now- know what am sayin'!!!!!!
It was all too much for me..... All too much for me mind!!!!!
Me mind was in total turmoil!!!!!!!!

I'd never been in this restaurant before and started ter look around in the 'ope nobody a knew was there ter see me with a possible 5 lady boys!!!!!!
It was one of the poshest restaurants i'd ever been into!!!!
This is where yer would see celebs if they were going for a meal in Liverpool!!!!

    Hello CLP & Everyone.

A Christmas lunch can be enjoyed at any time of the year Chris, I'm thinking of having another for Easter if not before. I also think that we should leave our Christmas trees up until the spring to cheer ourselves up during the most miserable time of the year.

I was reading all about the origin of Christmas celebrations on this computer and it would appear that we are all pagans. Whatever, I like to believe what I was brought up to believe and that it is a wonderful happy celebration of the birth of Jesus. There is such a magical atmosphere of giving and caring so it must be good.

    Enjoy!!!

Happy Hump Day everyone from a very cloudy and grey Ayrshire.

I agree, Christmas can be celebrated any time, I know quite a few people who have theirs in January as they are too busy in December, as for turkey, that can be eaten year round, in fact when I got married we had it for the meal and that was in June.

I must say CLP, I don't think it's a good idea doing the newspaper quiz in the morning, I can't help thinking how many people you are spoiling that for, people who maybe sit down on their tea or lunch breaks with the paper only to have the quiz answers read out on the radio before hand, maybe it's just me but I think it's a mistake.

Chrissie - Ellie is doing great, she is in a crate at night but during the day she has access to the kitchen, utility room and garden, as we have a dog flap on the door so she can come and go as she pleases, the garden is secured though so she can't go anywhere. Hence the reason why we have to put her in a crate at night, as she goes outside and barks. They had told us she is a chewer but she hasn't chewed anything (yet), maybe that's because she has access to loads of toys and is getting plenty of exercise. I have been taking her and Glaid a good walk in the mornings before I go to work and then when I get home, unfortunately I have had to set the alarm for 5.30am now to fit that in, but never mind. I have not let her off the lead yet, unless we are in an enclosed paddock as I don't trust her 100% to come back to me, but I am working on that all the time and I don't think it will be long. I am taking her to obedience classes tomorrow night as well. Sorry if that's bored anyone!!

Hope you all have a good day.

Chrissie S - For advice on good romantic interlude restaurants in Liverpool.... The VERY one in me true story above is the San Carlo which INDEED is an Italian restaurant - 100% TRUE!!!!!!!

But it's a little expensive.... and although very nice... for a romantic restaurant.... the place a would take any special woman from Cheryl Cole... ter 'ells Bells... ter me Thai girlfriend (who's name am keeping secret as it's abit... A might reveal it one day soon!!!!) is the Alma De Cuba restaurant & bar!!!!!!!!!!
    Alma... De Cuba Chrissie!!!!!!!!!
INDEED a took Chezza The Diva & B's Mum there for a nice meal (and B's Mum insisted on paying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@!@!!@!!!)
The Alma De Cuba is an amazing place>>> An old chapel turned inter an atmospheric master piece of cuisine... So atmospheric... even Russ Abbott would like it!!!!!!!!!!!
AND it's been voted best restaurant in the UK 2008,9 & 10!!!@!!@!!!@!
AND it's not too expensive.... bit expenisve but not too... But the important bit is it is extensive in romance!!!!!

    'ope this 'elps!!!!!

Baggy: glad to see you got a decent lunch - I didn't get back in time to help you make a decision!

Bingo: the lovely Cheryl suggested this restaurant to me - she told me that this was your choice during our Liverpool Meet, and it was just fantastic. I have passed on the information to Ms's boyfriend, and he has made the reservation! Thanks Bingo: it's great to "hear" you so happy!

Gail: oh, your post was anything but boring ... just absolutely lovely - bless Ellie, she has totally landed on her feet, as they say! What a star you are getting out of bed at 5.30am! I feel so sorry for myself, an hour later!

    CSN: thank you xx

And thanks to everyone who is still thinking of us - I know there are many of you. It's all getting very serious now. It helps to know that there are people "out there" giving support.

    Afternoon each

Season’s greetings CLP, hope you are enjoying your lunch. Don’t do turkey personally, but love the trimmings.

Chrissie, your post on Saturday, re your sister, took me back a couple of years when a friend of ours was in the very same situation, she too arranged her own funeral, and said her goodbyes to friends and family. It was heartbreaking, but she took it in her stride. The service was beautiful. I have so much admiration for those who can do that. My thoughts are still with you and your family at this difficult time xx

CG, thinking of you also xx

Debs, belated woo hoos on the job front, and the new wardrobe!

Gail, what a lovely thing to do, how lucky is your dog? On the doggy theme, I know of someone, not a friend, who has a dog, it lives in the garden, sleeps in the shed, rarely gets spoken to, and to my knowledge, has never been on a lead, certainly for the time I have known them. WHY???

Bingo, I love your posts, so happy for you. Heard your name check on the radio this morning!

MTF, glad the wallet was returned, now hang it round his neck! :-)

Deevs, enjoy tonight, hope you’re feeling up to it.

Maddy, how’s the pain the neck!?

I’ve got a lousy memory and it’s been a while since posting, so apologies to those I’ve missed. I have been lurking, so I am sending to all those in need, a bucket full of hugs xx

Stay warm everyone, I’ve heard it’s getting colder, and we need that like a hole in the head!

Penny: hiya - always lovely to see you. Thanks for your lovely words - yes, it is very humbling and very inspirational to be around someone who just "accepts" it all. Personally, I would be under a table with a vat of vodka, I am sure! Seriously, though, my sister has been so helpful to so many people, but we are now getting to the stage where it's our turn to help her, and we are doing that to the best of our ability.

JG: hugs back to you - isn't it horrible feeling so lousy? Glad to see you have been taking it easy.

Just to say, I did have a quick skim through the last couple of blogs - couple of things:

Is CLP trying to tell us something? I sincerely hope we are not going to lose this blog, or I will be bereft!

MTF: so glad to see your lovely boy recovered his bus pass - that would have been awful for him to have lost it forever.

AliB and Bids: thank you for the Burns Night good wishes. MrS did manage to have a "wee dram" while I stuck to liquid usually known as white wine!

    Just a quickie

I really didn't read Chris's blog yesterday as being anything about the blog ending - just maybe meeting to get his tax return in or doing a fire safety course - a dull, boring, grown-up tyoe of thing rather than a bad news type meeting

D'oh Typing! Really must learn how one day! ;-)

Baggy, lyrics I like at the moment is (are?) the start of the new Bob Geldof Song - can't remember exactly but really cheerful and makes me feel ggod

Can't stand some country song they are playing every 5 mins that says the girl mustn't sream and shout if he vanishes for week like a roustabout - whatever one of those is!

    Sezza xxx

  • Comment number 34.

Don't think I've heard that one Sezza, but a roustabout is a travelling labourer (US origin).

I heard the new REM song at the end of Steve Wright's show earlier, and really liked it, and glad they still have "it", whatever "it" is!

    Evernin' all!

'Pologies for absence yesterday, was laid up and miserable (entertaining the despised Auntie Flo). How gross was the 'skin-shedding' conversation this morning?! And I was already sleep-annoyed because Jasper decided that he was going to sleep on my side of the bed last night - and I had to have the cold side - boooo!

I think the January Christmas lunch is a great idea, for the restaurants and the diners! My mum's breast-cancer support group always have their Chrimble bash in January. It's the most wonderful time of the yeeeeeeear!

Sorry to hear about all the bods feeling poorly; hope things pick up soon. My neighbour warned me that there is a nasty doggy illness doing the rounds down here at the moment - a 12-hour bug involving contact vomiting (sorry). Jasper was a bit poorly last Thursday, so hopefully that'll be his only brush with it. Of all the dogs in the near vicinity (and there are quite a lot), only Jasper and two of his friends, Jack-Russell, Archie, and Rottweiler, Eddie, haven't succumbed.

Plenty o' hugs to all who need them, and many wags of Jasper's tail to you all.

    Keep smiling!

    Evening all

Not much to report tonight, other than I've definitely lost the plot (incase anyone wasn't sure!)... I now give you the proof.

Last night, when I got in, I couldn't find my diary. It wasn't in my bag (where it lives), nor on either my desk or the dining table, it was no where to be seen in my bedroom. I'd had it the night before, but couldn't recall having it since, although my bag had been opened in two pubs in the evening out while I was looking for other things (purse, pen, car keys and the like). So, having triple checked everywhere possible in the flat I rang both pubs and asked them to look for it. No sign of it anywhere, and they looked everywhere I'd been, bless them, even where I parked! So I gave up hunting and went to bed. This morning I decided to look in the car, so put my coat on and went out. No sign of it in the car, or between the car and home. Put my keys in my pocket while considering what else I might have done with it accidentally... and found it, in my coat pocket. D'oh! Now to apologise to the pubs for making them look...

Hugs to those in need (and I hope the above has made you smile, even if I feel like a wally)

Baggz, that long weekend sounds just the job, and stop-offs along the way mean you get to see nice bits of our lovely country. And Scotland is so gorgeous - my parents actually go there every year for their hols these days, they like it so much.

Jasper and I like Dartmoor in Devon best (actually, I love London, but Jasper only likes the sordid nightclubs there, so he isn't allowed to go to the capital again). Sad to say, alas, I haven't had a proper holiday since 2007 ;-(. Ah well, only 18 months or so on the ol' insolvency (unless the Lottery smiles on us before then) and we'll be hitting the ol' A303 (good old Wiltshire bottlenecks...) once more!

I'm having to wait for the iPlayer for DIY SOS - and the pc crashed while I was trying to watch the Gypsy Weddings. IT can ONLY be Wednesday!

Love and huge hugs also to Chrissie and CG - we might not be with you literally, but Jasper and I are silently walking beside you - just so you're not going through it alone. Also goes for anyone else getting a battering from life's "cruel-cudgel" just now. xx

Re. DIY SOS - I never thought I'd watch that sort of show really (I hardly watch any telly these days), but the boys on the team are great! Billy is such a cutie-pie! And please - someone; ANYone - tell me I'm not alone in having impure thoughts about Nick Knowles... ;-)

I went a bit mad with my jacket potato... Decided that (to paraphrase JC himself) Roo cannot live by Spud alone, so have mixed-in cooked onion and mushrooms, cheese (plus bit of butter - the cholesterol can s*d off for one night) and some beaten egg and am baking the whole in a ceramic bowl in the oven now. Fingers crossed....

Jasper hopes it will all go wrong and I'll end up scraping a gooey mess into his welcoming supper-bowl. He's pretending to be asleep, but every so often I can see little dark eyes flicking kitchen-wards... ;-)

    lots of love,

Hope your dinner turned out ok, I have a piece of Sirloin here with Jaspers name on it, figuring his teeth have better chewing capabilities then mine!!

Ah well, next best thing, the open box of special k for me to dip my hand into. Makes a blimmin mess, but sure is scrummy. Without milk of course.

Morning - from a sneaky me on the sofa!!

Roo, I know what you're sayong about DIY SOS, they really seem to get involved in the family and their situation.

However, Nick Knowle! I can see the attraction, honest I can, but I think my brother looks just like a (younger) Nick Knowles so that affects any thoughts I might have!!

Was a joy so see Lawrence Curlilocks LB again last night though!

Baggy, bet you and Mr SBP have a fab time wherever you end up and however you got there!

    Morning blogettes

Just a quickie from me for now.

Baggy - we saw Skunk Anansie at V in August and I too had forgotten how fantastic they were/are. Skin is such a powerful front-woman. I'm not mad keen on many female singers but she has got something worth listening to!

For all you Nick Knowles fans, he has a daytime quiz show on BBC2 at aobut half 4 in the afternoons. He's definitely one of those men that you shouldn't fancy but he is somehow fanciable!

The Cult were phenomenomenenenenal last night - I'm hoping to write a "review" of it throughout the day and will publish on my blog later, for those who may be interested.

Back later when I've caught up on 3 days' worth of work ....

(that'll be in about 10 minutes then!)

    Hi everyone:

Just how fabulous was Chris's show this morning? The man is a genius - anyone who can get so much mileage out of "a cloak" deserves praise!

btw: can anyone tell me who is saying "Good morning Britain" now? I just cannot recognise his voice.

Bids and Roo: thank you. xx

Roo: Nick Knowles - I do believe that my Sister #2 may share the same impure thoughts you have about him! He's not my type, but I can see what you fancy about him!

    Hope everyone is ok today.

Oh, I did mean to say to Baggy: hope you get a nice wee holiday sorted out - I'm a little biased, of course, but I think you made an excellent choice when you opted for Scotland!

Cheryl: good to hear you had a great time last night.

Gingembre: nice to see you here, earlier in the week. You are sounding on great form.

Keith: I was thinking of you this morning! How are your daughters?

    And finally, where is Annie?

    C xx

p.s. sorry - I think I may be in a chatty mood this morning!

    Morning All,

It's a bit fresh out there this morning, but I had a nice brisk walk to work.

I hope everyone is fine and dandy and a Happy Thirsty Thursday to you all xx

Chrissie, Thank you for asking who the man's voice is, as it's been bugging me for a while. I was even thinking this morning that Julie Walters should do it, that would make me smile in the morning.

I apologise in advance if I forget someone, but Yes Annie where are you - are you OK Annie, Annie are you OK xx

Gail, Thank you for telling us about Ellie and I hope you all have many happy days together xx

Chrissie and CG, Still remembering you in prayer and sending hugs xx

To all those poorly people out there, get better soon xx

EasyJob, Why are you always top of my Bejewled leader board, what's your secret? xx

And a BIG HELLO to everyone else xx

I've just been on the phone to the police to report the theft of lead from our church roof! Little tikes if I ever get hold of them!

    Morning all

    Cold and cloudy here.

Nightmare yesterday afternoon in the house, so left Mr CSN in charge of things and went shopping with lovely daughter and grandchildren.

Leaky pipe now sorted, central heating now sorted and new dishwasher coming Monday. Hooray!

Cheryl, glad you had a lovely evening. xx

    Chrissie, thinking of you. xx

Annie, miss you on here. xx

Thats awful. I can't understand how someone can steal from a church.

    csn. xx

  • Comment number 68.

AliB: thank you. xx I agree with CSN, how on earth can anyone steal from a church? Good grief, I know what I would do with them! And, yes, Julie Walters would be great - especially as Mrs Overall!

CSN: thank you, too. xx Sounds like mayhem in the CSN household yesterday - great idea of yours to get out of there and go shopping!

CG: you are in my thoughts. xx

Morning all, from a decidedly chilly south!

MTF, good luck to GD, hope she gets well and truly ‘gokked!’

AliB, I think I would call them far worse than ‘little tikes’. What is the world coming to?

CSN, when my dishwasher gave up the ghost, about a year ago, Mr P thought he’d lost his right arm, he ensured it was replaced immediately! lol
Glad the leak is sorted. They say things happen in threes!

Baggy, we had a holiday in Scotland a couple of years ago, it was beautiful, and we might even go back this year. You will definitely enjoy it.

A few days ago, I did ‘see’ Annie having a chinwag next door, so hopefully she is ok.

Morning all, just tip-toeing in whilst at work.

Phew - glad it's not just me in the Nick Knowles camp ;-).

A Bristol mini-meet would be FAB, I've never been before, so am giving thought to staying over for an extra night before the Saturday wedding, so DEFINITELY up for a Friday-night-razz with Bristol bloggers, wahey!

AliB - what scummers; to steal from a church (or to steal anything from anyone, but church-stealing is particularly despicable). If the miscreants are caught, Jasper would appreciate a few minutes alone with them in a locked room. He has a particularly dim view of such activities and would like to demonstrate his concerns to those responsible through the medium of nippery.

Deevs - glad you had a good time at the concert. Full of sweaty, hairy goths, was it - or have they all lost their hair these days ;-)

    Back laters!

P.S. My spud was lovely, but too much for one meal, so having the rest tonight - live the dream!!! ;-)

Thanks Crumpy (and Deev), Is he the one from Four Weddings? I'm going to have to listen hard tomorrow morning xx

I'm quite excited as I have just booked a flight to New York to visit my friend in Conneticut in April. Although I will have to take out a second mortgage to pay for it, I can't believe how expensive flights are nowadays! I am flying with Kuwait Airways (other airlines are available) as they were by far the cheapest. It's a good job I don't drink (apart from the very odd tipple).

Cheryl: thank you so much for passing that message on from Crumpy! I love Simon Callow ... I don't think it sounds like him at all!

Crumpy: how lovely to know you are lurking! I was just saying to our very own MwK this morning, how much I am missing you! xx

And there's just loads and loads of missing bloggers. I said this the other day, I don't want to name names, so please, P-L-E-A-S-E, check in with us, just when you can!

    Hello everyone,

Dropping in to let you all know that nothing has changed with Mum, she's sleeping all the time, but is as comfortable as can be expected. The nurses are brilliant, her hair is always brushed (she has a really thick curly mop - even thicker since it grew back after chemo!)and she always smells of her favourite perfume. Yes, it is a NHS hospital and I couldn't ask for better care for her.

Chrissie - hope you're managing to keep on top of everything. Thinking of you too xx

Deevs - glad you're feeling better and I bet the gig helped with the process! Just read your blog - you have a great writing style.

Roo - tales of you & Jasper have kept me smiling in the wee small hours (which is when I tend to lurk these days)

CSN / Bids / AliB and any others I have been rude enough not to mention - thanks for all your thoughts.

What's with CLP these days? The new blogs get more & more irregular - hope he's not doing too much (but I bet he is!)

Got to go, will be back when I can .........

    CG xx

  • Comment number 81.

CG - I think CLP might br a bit bored with the blog, after all its been going five years now and we know how the man likes to keep moving?

  • Comment number 82.

I think you're right Baggy - we should make provisions for when/if it stops. There are too many amazing friendships on here to let them go.

    Ideas anyone??

I'm sticking with this blog for now!

I know Chris is busy and maybe some days he is too busy to get here when we want him to but I haven't seen anything that makes me think he wants it to stop

He knows by now how we feel about the blog and he's met enough of us that I am sure if he was thinking of winding the blog up he would tell us

Let's not talk ourselves into a bad place

You wouldn't have guessed, the show being brilliant as usual, but Chris did mention he was spending a lot of time in the loo! Make of that which you will! So maybe he is sleeping it off.

Hey - I have my sense of humour back, and it hasn't improved ...........

Penny, I noticed that too. Am actually glad we don't have a blog if it was going to be any more detailed about CLP's delicate condition (((xxx)))

Love his thought that if it only lasts 24 hrs for the kid, will last same for you. Doesn't he know yet that it always lasts at least twice as long for the parents!
