So, The Fruit Sweepstake...And The Winner Is...

Chris Evans | 10:34 UK time, Friday, 16 April 2010

Look, here's the figures for The Three Stooges Show from last night - 9.4 million with a peak of almost 10. Much better than I thought they would be.

So, who wins the bowl of fruit ? Well blow me if it isn't: Jonny Saunders!

Congratulations - and now the benchmark has been set. Sky next week. . .

I can feel a SWEET-stake coming on.

Listen you lot, have a fabulous weekend and I will see you back on the radio Monday at five past seven.

I'll be tweeting all weekend at @achrisevans.

    Morning All Again,

So, I was right, Chris, debate viewers higher than your listeners...still think alot of people tuned in out of curiosity though, who now won't tune in again (especially those who don't have Sky!). Then again, Mr Clegg seems to have struck a chord with the public, as he and his party haven't been tainted by failure, MP's expenses etc, though he hasn't been burdened with public office either! So, maybe more will tune in for the next 2. I will. I like it. It needed to be controlled by the moderator or they would have interrupted, shouted and banged on for ages, though he was a bit shouty!!

    Morning Chris,

Have a fabulous weekend yourself and I shall certainly be tuning in again on Monday. Is it wrong that this morning, when I remembered it was Friday, a big smile came across my face as I thought of the Candy Man song just after 8 - sad but true!

Is it also wrong that I've just eaten a custard doughnut, with caramel icing on top - no didn't think so!

Good day here today. Watched the dedate last night and Nick Clegg came out best for me - especially the part when he said all the names of the ones that had asked him questions.

Hi Chris: Hope you have a fabulous weekend too. xx Absolutely agree with Cheryl re: Sony Awards. The show just gets better and better - the wee boy today who gave himself 8/8 was just lovely!

Cheryl: I will try to find the link on FB, thanks. If I am unsuccessful, I'll be back to ask directions!

The debate was on at ours, but to be honest I didn't really listen that closely after the first 20 mins, will also miss the next one unless the holiday cottage has Sky, which is unlikely.

TBH, I've got better things to do whilst on holiday!

Anyhow, I have three things tha I must get done here before I go home, so better get on with it, as have loads to do at home as well...

Ello CLP Man & ALL Bloggies,

Bingo Star ere..... feeling like a newly renovated tower block..... standing tall 'n proud & with a low crime rate........

CLP - WHATTA COINCIDENCE.... yer off ter Sky next week.... am off ter Kyle Of Lochalsh on Sundee.... just a stones throw from one end of the Isle Of Skye bridge!!!!!!
This iz a part of Scotland ave never been te r& even when a did all me Guinness Book railway travelling one line ave never rode on iz the most beautiful Inverness ter Kyle Of Lochalsh... so am loooking forward te rit!!!!!!!!
Micheal Palin made a BBC programme about this line!!!!!! Palin a secret rail enthusiast but noot a trian spotter... very much like a ain't... it's the relaxed travelling & beautiful scenery a like!!!!!!!!!

CLP - Enjoy The One Show ternnet... i'd be going on there all the teem if a waz in your position just ter chat up the Chrisitne Blakely capricorn babe!!!!!!!!
And whatta babe she iz....... just pausing for a moment ter take in the thought of a date with 'er........

Goot no chance ..... DAMN IT I 'ate that footy player she's going out with!!!!!!!!!
In fact goot no chance even if a wazza top footy player mesen!!!!!

PS CLP - Ave tried Twittering.... it frightens me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Might give it a go whilst up in the 'ighlands of Scotland this week.... if a can see for all the damn volcanic ash everywhere!!!!!!!
Might remind me of a 'olidee in..... Lanzarote!!!!!!!!!!

Finally ter CLP & ALL - Just wanted ter add ter any including CLP who might be inter dabbling in shares......
Ave been meaning ter putta few tips on the blog recently in case any are interested!!!!!!
A recently waz gonna wreet about Eddie Stobart shares are very 'ot & working for them a can see they are expanding fast!!!!!
But a waz too slow & recently their shares ave broken out & banged up!!!!!!
Still a good buy though.... a think they will double of the next year or so!!!!!!!
But the latest company a can see on me charts looks about any dee ter break out & thrust up is 'Petrofac!!!!!'
    Am in both above!!!!!!!!
If any are inter shares phone yer broker & get their advice on both those comapnies.... a think their very good bets!!!!!!
    Plus 'Kentz' a like too!!!!!!

Finally am very 'eavy invested in the Dow Jones index too!!!!!!!!
It's been going up very strongly.... and a think it will over the next year or two return to it's old 14,000 level 'igh!!!!!!
Something that could make me 200k!!!!!!!
Be nice az I could get all ave stupidly lost back..... and then be able at last ter buy another 'ouse!!!!! :)
A find investing in the Dow a good bet az it's less risky than individual companies!!!!!!!
If one of the 30 companies that make up the Dow index goes bust.... the Dow wouldn't go bust!!!!!!
Plus noot all companies go up smoothly in a bull market... some get left behind!!!!!
THe Dow leads the markets/ companies..... so in a bull market it will climb steadily.... thus yer investment climbs steadily!!!!!!
Then when we go inter a downward trend/ recession.... yer can short it & ride it down!!!!!!!!

My prediction iz the Dow will, smash ter a new 'igh of 16,000 in two or three years - yer 'ear dit ere first!!!!!!

A predicted the credit crunch & the end of the recession last March!!!!!!!
(check previous blogs for the proof in the Bingo pudding of finance!!!!!!)

Only thing know, sorry now, the Dow iz getting close ter the 61.8% Fabonacci level and WHATTA COINCIDENCE just az we're about ter 'it May - aka one of the worst months of the year for the stockmarket & when the old adage 'sell in May & go away until Ledgers Dee' seems ter be setting up for perfect teeming!!!!!!!!
A think from the second week in May the Dow will correct/ pull back which iz 'ealthy & then come June it will resume it's uptrend!!!!!!!!!

Fro any who wanter check me advice it's noot set in stone but consult yer broker.... especially CLP who a know az dabbled in shares in the past!!!!!!!

    'ope this 'elps all!!!!!!!

PS A don't ave a broker.... a find experts usually down't know what they are talking about!!!!!!

    Bye!

Yippee!! I have had a real result!! Mr JG has only gone and cut the lawn!! He needed some "help" but I managed to keep out of the way most of the time, so it's done, and I'm not suffering!

    YIPPEE!!

Deev, enjoy your evening, and I hope the food turns out as you hope!

Thanks Susan! I do, if I'm honest!

I need to go and ring Mum, and start thinking about stuff from the kitchen I need to take with me. I can't start the clothes until tomorrow, partly because of the dog, and partly because some of it is still damp!

Blimey what a day - work totally a mare and this evening didn't start too well either......

So - all that behind me - relax a bit this evening with Ashes to Ashes - not too late to bed - (honest!!) then see the state of the motorways tomorrow.
I presume as there are no birds in the sky a fair number of folk will be hiring cars to get back/to wherever - may be a few detours with the help of trusty satnav. I'll flippin walk if necessary!!!!

Loving the scarf Tiggs - only wool I have is 4 ply pink from a jumper half finished and abandoned but you are very welcome. Why pink I have no idea - I am just not a "pink" person.

JG - result!!!!! Have a brilliant week away. Looking forward to the report on the cottage - it looks lovely.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY FAIRY FRIEND!

Phew, much as I like a visit to London, i'm so glad I don't have to go everyday.

And what is it about that discount clothes store that has a very large shop in Oxford St and begins with a P and ends with mark? Do they spray you with something as you go i that makes you buy lots of random stuff that you're really not sure about when you get home?

I'm also going to spare a thought for the three families involved in "incidents" on the lines today.

    buenos dias mis amigos

    Trusting you are all well.

Just thought I'd stick my head round the door and see how the old place was doing, see if you had decorated yet or managed to get that nasty stain out of the carpet. How did you do that, by the way? I spent three years and all sorts of concoctions and could never shift it, I disappear for a couple of months and you have the place sparkling. I never was one for housework.

I have arrived at a very strange day in my world. Today is the day before my first, and in all liklihood last, marathon. Having spent the past few months pounding the streets of Rudgwick and the past week pacing up and down like a caged tiger, it has finally arrived. All I need to do today is try and stop biting my nails, continue to take the stairs very carefully and face up to yet another bowl of pasta. Even this committed veggie will be taking a break from penne, rigatoni, lasagne and any other form of Italian flour-water combo for a little while to come.

Talking of taking a break, it is looking rather like our little holiday isn't going to happen. A shame, but hey. As many people often tell me, worry about the stuff that you can do something about. Maybe we'll have a few days at home - lets face it, I won't be able to walk for a couple of days - and then do something next month. However, as it is still 'up in the air' (could I have found a less appropriate phrase?), we will still have to pack today. I say 'we', but as the keener eyed among you will remember, when it comes to packing I am banned from coming within 25ft of the cases. Well, I am a man, after all.

So, today I shall lay my kit out for tomorrow. Change my mind 27 times about which top to wear, pinning and unpinning my number accordingly (did I tell you my number? 747. With no planes in the sky, how ironic), check and recheck the route, pack my kit bag (I'm allowed to do that) and generally loiter around, a blob of nervous energy, annoying Mrs MfR.

Wish me luck troops. Many, many thanks to everyone who has sponsored me. I was a cub scout once upon a time, and I said it then and I shall say it now, I promise to do my best.

    Peace + love

    MfR

Good morning everybody. The sun is shining in Cambridgeshire, the birds are tweeting prettily and it's a lovely day!

It's my wedding anniversary today - 28 years! And they said it would never last... Obviously I was VERY young when I got married. Mr Bee and I are off out for a meal tonight - probably Chinese, but hold the front page - we may change our mind, before the day's out.

In other news, a 19 year old lad is coming up to visit my son this weekend. He's the son of a friend, and the last time I saw him he was about 10. Apparently, he's a bit of an Adonis these days. I'm slightly worried. Although, not quite as worried as I would be if my 17 year old daughter was here...

Hope you all have a great day, especially those of you going to Bristol.

    Morning!

Typing this sitting up in bed, enjoying the start of a rare weekend off from work. Cloudy here in Edinburgh this morning, yesterday it was wall to wall sunshine, was really wierd thinking that there's a huge cloud of ash up there somewhere. At work we are close to the flight path into Edinburgh airport so of course no planes up in the sky; very odd! Really feeling for those whose travel plans have been affected, I have a couple of friends stranded in NYC and Australia. Am just hoping that the cloud shifts soon and that my 30th birthday plans in 3 weeks aren't scuppered!

Good luck in the marathon tomorrow Matt

Enjoy the blog meet all those going!

    Good Morning Bloggers.

I sat down at 7pm last night with acup of tea and box of chocolate mints to hand to watch The One Show. I was thinking how Chris was beginning to look a lot like Louis Theroux. DOH I'd got it wrong but great news that Chris will be presenting an hour long show on Fridays. But not a good time for viewing figures i.e. Emmerdale AND Coronation Street. I shall record Chris as I know withheld name will want to watch later.

Have fun in Bristol, don't get too out of control!

    Matt-good luck with the marathon.

Deebee-congratulations and celebrations on 28 years.

Bingo-looking forward to day 2 report. Enjoy the bonnie highlands.

Hi DB - our 32nd next Thursday yikes where did that time go? Enjoy your meal wherever you end up going.

Long drive to Dorset tomorrow so hope the roads aren't busier with people having to make alternative travel plans. My son stuck since Thursday but eventually on train to Amsterdam to get ferry crossing back home overnight - and having to pay £520 for the privilege!!
There must be some frazzled folk out there.

Good luck tomorrow Matt and such a shame about your travel plans esp as they are now talking about this going on for quite some time.

Happy Anniversary Deebee, and Susan for Thursday!

We're just about all packed, and the dog hasn't a clue, as he's been out in the garden all morning.

The big match just kicked off, and as soon as it's over we're on our way! Can't wait!

Have been reading on twitter about all the famous folk stuck in various places, just goes to show even having money doesn't necessarily help! Mind you, they don't seem to sleeping on the airport floor!

What a nightmare it all is, glad your son's managed to find a way home Susan, and love to anyone else who's got firends and family stuck!

Have a good holiday, you'll love the Lake District. We went to Lake Windermere last year, rode on steam train from Lakeside and back and then sailed from Lskeside to Bowness via Ambleside.

I loved it so much I want to do the same this year.
