Hey guys, here we are again
... it's Monday time, the weather's a bit off and it's that vacuum in between the here and there that is now and Christmas but fear not for we have three weeks of jungle antics to see us through..
I thoroughly enjoyed IACGMOOH last night, more so than ever before - why ? I can only presume it's because of our son Noah. He's the only thing that's changed in my life compared to the other years it's been on when I used to tear it apart for being bubble gum t.v. but after a busy weekend away working I couldn't wait to grab a glass of wine, settle down next to Tash, put my feet up and start shouting and laughing at the telly, both of which I did - a lot. We even recorded Top Gear so we could watch Ant and Dec live.
The thing is though I don't want Jordan in there as then it becomes the Jordan show. I really really don't care about her, or want to hear a single word she has to say - about anything. Do you think the producers have made a boob boob here ? Having said that, I suppose her inclusion means I can potentially shout at the telly more.
The biggest decision is however, dips and crisps or forks and take away!

Like you said on Twitter last night, Sunday night tv is now so fab - it's the new night for staying in, for sure. Altho Mr Deev wasn't too impressed with having to "suffer" (his words) the X Factor.
And bye bye to The Fro .... WRONG!!!!!
As for the jungle - I'm liking Kim the clean-up freak ("are these towels changed regularly" - gold!) And George Hamilton could be one to watch too. Agree re Katie/Jordan - nooooooooooooooo!
As for the golden question .... dips and crisps for sure, with giant choccy buttons for good measure!
Have a grand day auld chap!

I agree entirely about Jordan going into the jungle - we've been there, done that and are mostly sick to death of the woman. I always thought she was brilliant until she kicked PA in the teeth and now I'm fed up of hearing about thing which have supposedly happened to her in the past that have only surfaced how she's desperate for publicity.
Having said that, maybe they could feed her to the animals! and OMG - having to put a water spider in your MOUTH!!! How horrid was that??
Good luck to em all - George of the Jungle is already getting my vote!!

Dips and crisps all the way for me - not watching IACGMOOH (well not at the moment anyway) got a whole weeks worth of V+ things to watch. Totally agree about "bordon" aka Jordon, but don't get me started!
Hope everyone is well, not sure I will catch up on all the blogging as a rough calculation says I have 1,522 posts to read! I've read Chris's blogs but I might just have to stop at that.
Chris, I read you book on hols, and I must say it was a fab read - very interesting and indeed not what you think. I might possibly have a claim to fame though! I went to secondary school with a Duncan Grey, now that's not a common name so I wonder if it is the one and the same. According to his letter in the back of your book, the dates and ages all add up - mmmmmmm interesting!
Oh well best get on, emails, post and cheques coming out of my ears.

Probably shouldn't comment on Jordan in the Jungle as I'm not watching it but it's such a shame. I think she made many people think better of her over the last few years but now she's going completely the other way. That's certainly my view.

Deevs, can you look in the ding dong book or on line & see if there is something in there you would like better than make up - bags or jewels or bubbly bath then drop big hints that you would like that better than make up? Can you (very politely & only mentioning freebies) say you have had a big clear out of make up recently or that you have suddenly developed a nasty allergy to anything but stuff only you can buy on line?
Oh & they have a Christmas Market on the South Bank as well as Hyde Park. Not sure it is as big but might be worth a look.

totally agree with you CLP on Jordan, not that it matters to the makers but I won't watch it whilst she's in there. The way she has behaved since her spilt from PA is nothing short of a disgrace. None of my business really but she is rammed down my throat via every type of media so I feel I can have a little opinion. Best thing is they'll be a poll next year of celeb mums of the year and she'll be on the list (probably with that Katona thing)
I'm just glad my hard earned money via the tv licence isn't being wasted on her, just that of the mugs that are sponsoring/advertising during the show.
Biggest shame is like most of the British public I really like Ant n Dec.
Started your book this weekend big man, read the tributes at the back first, very novel/brave idea Christophe. Can't wait to get stuck in to the main event now, will be reading it mostly on the train on Friday as I wing my way down to R2 to do my bit for CiN

I missed most of IACGMOOH last night, but did get to see the KP bit at the end. I would think more of her if she was at home with her lovely children instead of half way round the world, a bit selfish IMHO but there you go, each to their own..... I guess if we have not walked a mile in her shoes we do not have the right to really comment / criticise her actions.
Deevs - we had a service of celebration at our church yesterday for 75 Samaritan's shoe boxes we have managed to put together over the year. The congregation are asked to bring in a particular item each month and then the boxes get wrapped and packed in early November ready to go off. 75 is a fantastic result and they looked fab all piled up at the front of the church yesterday morning. Well done on you for putting 2 together yourself, that's so great to hear. It will make such a difference to those children that will receive them.
Onwards and upwards, Monday blues today - where did the weekend go? Still, I managed to get my new home PC up and running again over the weekend. At least I am online at home again now.

Whilst charity doings are at the fore - we have just sponsored a child in Afghanistan through Action aid. We sat down with the kids last night and explained it to them, showed them the little girl's picture and where she lives on Gewgle earth.
They had so many questions, and having a person for their young minds to focus on meant that it actually meant something to them.
They now want to write to her.....and visit!!!! Not so sure we'll be doing the latter.
If you're looking for something to chuck a few quid a month at, this seems like as good as any to me.

Can't say I watch the jungle thing, and am even less likely to now I know that KP is in it. I don't think I've watched any of them since Tony Blackburn was in it!
Sunday night viewing for us is hectic enough without adding another programme into the mix, although Nascar will soon be finishing for the winter. Having said that we are now two races behind on that!
Was sorry to hear the news about Edward Woodward, always seemed like a decent sort of bloke, not that I ever met him..
Rips, we've been sponsoring a child in Senegal for about two years, and my youngest niece likes to write to her. Eldest niece has a pen-pal in Sri Lanka, introduced through a local charity in Wales who have been rebuilding the schools after the Tsunami. It really helps the kids to build up a picture of how lucky we all are, and how differently others live - Good for you!!

IACGMOOH is one of the very few programmes we all like watching, mostly for Ant and Dec, and the bush tucker trials. I'm not a Jordan fan AT ALL but at least it won't be dull, and hopefully she won't be hanging around for long.
Did anyone see Dr Who last night, another family favourite (sorry if this already been discussed)? WOW! And I'd forgoten how fabulous Lindsay Duncan is too - what a voice.
Other programmes all four Boleyns watch together: Casualty and Harry Hill.

Much as I hate reality shows, never, ever watch Big Brother, don't like X-Factor, etc., I have to confess to being fond of IACGMOOH. And the prospect of watchin' the glorious Kim Woodburn in the jungle with the Douglas Hurd hairdo and the pneumatic chestals is one I was relishing.
But.
I refuse, refuse point blank to watch the carcinogenic Jordan/ Katie NameYourPrice. The woman is a disgrace and the epitome of a terrifying role-model for impressionable girls. Her bullying, disgusting behaviour is not what the Suffragettes died for and not what we should allow our daughters exposure to. I don't think it's overstating the case to say that she is a truly dangerous and insidious woman.
So I fear IACGMOOH is going to be one viewer down this time. Which is disappointing but I'll get over it. I'm also buying fewer magazines at the minute as I won't buy anything which features her, which is a bit of a plus really; I'm much better off for not absorbing all that tosh anyway.
So there. That's MY opinion and yous are all entitled to it, as usual.
Bless me.

This hair colour stuff has me titterin' and thinkin' of the time, many years ago when men colouring their hair really WAS taboo, when I was married to me lovely big rugger-bugger farmer with the abs yous could grate cheese on and a head of lush, thick, curly hair.
Now this man was a handsome big chap, played at no.8 and could (and did) break a barge-pole whilst rescuin' us all from a sand-bank, could twiddle a cast-iron lamp-post round his head no bother. But he was so laid-back, bless him, would tolerate most anyting from my good self, before I turned into a post-natal nightmare that is.
So, one night as he sat in the bath, immersed in the Farmers' Weekly or whatever it was, I looked at him and thought, 'Hmmm. e could use a bit of brightenin' up.' Whereupon I said, "Sweetheart, I think you could do with a bit of conditioner on your hair. What d'you think?"
"Yup. Whatever." says he, distracted by the turbo-charged muckspreaders and the Top Tips on How To Avoid Cabbage Root-Fly.
So I slapped a lovely so-called chestnut brown colour on his head and left him to it for 10 minutes. When I returned to the bathroom, there he was, still soaking, but with orange dribbles all down the back of his neck. Mortified, I squeaked, "Er.. I think that'll do now, hun; shall I wash it off for you?" .. and blasted him with about 50 gallons of water. Jayzus, I thought. I hope he doesn't notice.
Anyway, notice he didn't. Straight to bed and up again before dawn broke, off out on his tractor before flying back in and changing before rushing off to assume his place at the back of the scrum on the rugby field in the semi-final of the then John Player Cup.
I have to say that against the odds, that day our lads beat one of the most fearsome teams in the country. Not so much because they were the better team as that the oppo couldn't cope with the constant collapsin' of the scrum in hysterics at the pink-haired (and pink-faced) no.8 forward.
Who never really trusted his missus again after that.
Happy days.

I'm A Has-been, Get Me Some Cash, I mean. It is one of those things that kind of worked first time around when no-one knew what to expect - least of all the people in it. I was going to use the phrase 'lost its magic', but I think we all agree 'magic' is a bit strong a word when dicussing this kind of nonsense. I have never seen a single minute of Big Brother, I am incredibly proud to say, but in a way I bet that worked first time out too. The problem comes when the 'contestants' wise-up and simply use it as a vehicle for their few minutes of fame.
Mind you, Ant and Dec still make me laugh...
Now. Question I was thinking about earlier.
When have you been in a position where you were totally petrified? I mean scared out of your wits, proper soil the underwear time?
I could only really think of two occasions, once was on the back of a motorbike, riding along the autoroute between Monaco and St. Tropez, being blown all over the road by the winds coming off the sea, trying to keep up with a load of other, bigger bikes, totally convinced we were going to die, probably by being blown under the wheels of a truck. The second was after a game of squash a couple of years ago and I was feeling slightly under the weather, so went to bed early. I woke around midnight with almightly chest pains and was instantly convinced I was having a heart attack. Poor Mrs MfR had to usher me into the car in the middle of the night and wheel me down to A&E, where I was wired up to everything, but they found nothing. I had only pulled some muscles, but for a while I thought it was game over.
Times like these you realise that life is too short.
Off to catch up on all the sleep I didn't get last night.
Peace + love

Last time I was properly scared. Hmm.
I'd say it was in the rugby club members' lounge after the Harlequins match, awaitin' the arrival of the then hubby with a head full a candyfloss. Ay-eeeee.
Or maybe it was a couple years back, whilst popping into our favourite watering-hole in Dublin immediately before returning home on the boat, I left the car fully-loaded up with all my equipment, bags, lap-top, all the money, etc., right outside the pub. Came out, no car. Now THAT was a twisted bowel moment.
I have to say that I have never bin so delighted to realise that me car had bin' towed. Turns out that Dick O'Turpin Enterprises had one sneaky spot where they would tow you away if you innocently parked on an unmarked spot in the belief it was ok after 6. As I collected said vehicle and happily paid me €180 extortion fee, Damian was genuflectin' an' coverin' 'is ears, but no, I was ecstatic.
Mind you, they were lucky. Damian tells it that he felt like Basil Fawlty when mister O'Reilly faced up to Sybil after buggerin' up the door in the hotel.
Ok am off to watch what remains of the Jungle japes while I can still enjoy it. Then I've me alarm set for the repeat of the Late Late Show, am bound to be puffin' an' dribblin' like Red Rum by 12.10am, and I'll be RAGIN' if I miss it again.

Two of those....
One aged 6 or 7 when Dad was stationed in Stafford and my younger sister and I wandered further than we knew we were allowed to on our roller skates. We were approached by a man who we didn't know and everything just seemed wrong and scary. After what felt like an hour of this guy constantly asking us questions (that I can't remember) my Dad walked around the corner and he legged it.
As he screamed at us at the top of his voice (he must have ben as scared as us) I remember not caring a bit about being told off, and how happy I was to hear it.
I was pretty fed up when we got home and got whacked with Mum's hair brush aswell though!!!
Second one - Climbing a fully extended four section ladder with the equivalent of a standard metal dustbin held in one hand over my shoulder.
The ladder was leant against an open steel structure, so you looked forward and there was nothing in front of you.
The ladder was quite upright, so not leaning much.
When I got to the top I had to hold on with one hand and pull the 'bin' over with the other and fix it on top of a riser.
Every time I tried to lift it, the ladder started to come away from the steelwork.
I can instantly recall the moment that I realised that I didn't have the strength to hold the 'bin' anymore and couldn't for some reason go back down.
Peculiar feelings that included 'well do I have to jump'...weird!!!
I had to drop it in the end, which involved praying that it didn't hit and buckle the ladder on it's way down.
Well there you are - I thought it was a good question so I answered it....you can all wake up now!!
