Say Hi everyone, Peter Fonda says...

... Hi

This is how the four days of Drive time Children in Needing culminated this year as the winning bidders said goodbye to their trusty piston powered Italian Stallions with a run up the famous Goodwood Hill Climb, Peter was there to take an easy ride up the hill. I also had am amazing conversation with him about his good friend "Jimmy" Coburn and the car of his that I bought last year. Peter said he'd been in it many times and that "Jimmy" loved that car - a real thrill for me to hear this from one of the great man's best friends.

Four days of non-stop driving, eating, smiling, chatting but oops very little sleep.

The thing is sometimes when you're doing things for all the right reasons, the energy just keeps on coming. I love driving and I love my cars but this morning I would have been happy not to see a road or any set of wheels for a couple of weeks - not to be however as I left my wallet in one of the cars which ended up in deepest darkest Essex so I have just completed another four hour spell behind the wheel before arriving here at the mighty Radio 2.

Can't thank the listeners enough who pledged the dosh for the Dine and Disco and of course the Car Caper, and for the first year this year I remembered to enjoy it instead of worrying all the time. Really, honestly and genuinely can't wait for next year, we are thinking about the details already.

Thanks to everyone involved big love to you all, almost half a mil to the kids, you've got to pat yourselves on the back for that one.

CLP 2009.
