Love the camping idea Chris!

We're taking BabyG camping in the summer - he'll be 9 months old, I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that it *could* be a recipe for disaster!

As for the make of 'van...I think the Airstream ones do look cool but I'm not sure how much room you'd get....personally if you can guarantee the warmth I'm a big tent fan...here's ours -

Sounds a brill idea to me Chris - spent some time at the weekend trying to persuade my other half to go camping for a weekend so that we can take our GSD Max to the beach. He just loves water. However other half wasn't keen :(

The caravan idea, definately the best one. Having just checked out some of those American Airstream thingys on the web I would say go for it.

Nothing like the caravan I remember staying in with my nan and grandad. The kitchen table turned into some kind of bed I think. I loved those holdays, playing bingo with nan and going to Jaywick Market....memories all flooding back.

PS me too - loads of work but not in mood!

oH i think Camping, but proper Camping.

We have a lovely Tent - it has three compartments for sleeping in, and one compartment for living in.

At least then you would be in the garden, and have toilets close by. Or you could just go proper camping and not wash for a few days.

Get a wee gas stove - and cook rice and curry in it. And then burn a wee fire at night time. Don't worry about the grass, you can buy these wee pots to make a fire in, Is brilliant.

And then at night, you can lie with your head out the tent looking up at the stars, and go to sleep counting the shooting stars.

How cool would that be!.

Oh wow that would be amazing! I would love to stay in a Winnebago, I would only go to a musci festival if I could have on of those!

Love the sunshine! Was at work today and who came in to see me... Gingembre himself! Its my mums birthday tomorrow so busy wrapping presents etc. But really want to be in the fella's garden looking after the plants and chilling out. I have become a bit addicted to the gardening as I always do just before the Chelsea Flower Show. I WILL get there next year!

I think the posh caravan is a fab idea, my sister has a static caravan in Luce Bay, south west coast of Scotland, and it is just heaven. The caravan is so luxurious, I would live in it in a minute!

Mr Russell Edward Brand did a stand-up thing recently about going on holiday half an hour from where you live and why not go home at nights instead of staying in a cold caravan. Brought memories flooding back, and oh so true, and oh so funny!

I hope and trust you all had a fine weekend. Having read the various blog threads from the weekend, I can but add one comment...

This forum has always been defined by an unswerving generosity of spirit, uplifting camaraderie, shared good wishes, compassionate understanding and an undeniable sense of positive energy.

I for one cannot and will not deviate from that road and any attempts to vandalise the 'entente cordial' of this blog should be unreservedly and unapologetically eschewed by us all.

So, my trip back to Blighty starts tomorrow. Marks and Spencers food court, here I come, family reunions, beers with friends, Edinburgh, Windermere...Life can be tough and by god, we should enjoy the good times.

Only had one experience of camping, back as a wee schoolgirl. Memories of a muddy field, my friend having an asthma attack in the middle of the night, and rivers of water running down either side and the middle of the tent. Give me a four star hotel any day hahaha.

Mum and dad live in one of those static caravans, fab during summer, cold during winter! Love listening to the sound of the rain on the roof though.

On balance CLP I think I'd go for the caravan. Bit more protection from the elements (and let's face it, this is England, it could turn nasty at any given moment!).

Ooh, only half an hour til hometime (well, gym time...).

Enjoy your time in Las Vegas and don't miss the water and music show at the Bellagio. Try going into the hotel and snagging a seat on the terrace with a cold one...it is even more delightful that way.

Oh, and if you can get a ticket, Cirque Du Soliel shows are absolutely incredible.

I'm liking the idea of a caravan in the garden CLP. I always thought that they were too narrow but you can get these amazing things that have hydrolic sides that expand and everything!!! Lyndyloo....

Hello all...

CLP you sounded right excitable talking about the rechargable chickens! When we buy a house next year (hopefully) I might have to see if I can persuade the hubby to let me have a chicken...

Talking of food, the hubby has been trying to boil the kettle to cook some pasta for dinner. Got one of them kettles that heat up on the hob. Only the wrong gas ring was on, heating up the empty frying pan for about 20 minutes.

Sigh.

I guess the chickens don't need to worry about moving house, the garden's already there, right?! Where would you have put them if you'd stayed with your mum, or at one of the pubs, or in a hotel? Who would've looked after them? Think you've made the right choice camping in the back garden there!

It's felt like we've been camping the past week, eating outdoors on a picnic table all week. Gorgeous. And I'm not worried about my sun exposure any more, 20 minutes of sun three times a week BEFORE putting on the sunscreen is what you need for a good dose of Vitamin D :) Hurrah! Any any more than that and I bake, so no desire for sunbathing for me...

Coco don't leave us, your posts do inject a bit of madness and levity into the blog and they do make us laugh!

Yes camping in the garden will be fun if the weather stays like this! and if you get into your house on the 28th then its only just over two weeks but these dates do get to be stretched a bit.
Hope the weather stays like this it makes everything so much easier and look so much better, was it really snowing four weeks ago?

Good evening fellow bloggers - I have just got back from a hold up in Poole - Artic had a fuel spill and caused major chaos as only one way over the lifting bridge - the 6.30 bridge lift was delayed due to sheer weight of traffic and lifted at 7pm. Then there was a fire somewhere on Hamworthy penninsular and the emergency vehicles were off again just after having cleaned up the spillage. What a night and I got to watch most from the quay where I had a meeting.

Missing the daytime blogging and can only blog in the evenings at present.

The Camping, If you want to have a REAL camping experience, then you have to go to Fisherground in Eskdale.

This is a campsite with only 4 toilets per sex, and 4 showers, hot water for washing dishes and tumble drier for drying off soaked clothes.

But it is THE most beautiful place on earth. If you go first week in July - it will be deserted. Just two great huge fields, set in a valley. You are allowed to use fire holes, so in the evening you can sit by the camp fire and watch the smoke sit above the camp site below the level of the hills.

You can listen to the grasshoppers, and the larks singing, you can walk along hillside paths - there's even an ice-cold river you can jump into and cool down - my son and husband have even jumped off a little bridge into it - from about 12 feet above the water. the water is so clear your heart just stops looking at it.

You can climb a hill and go skinny dipping in the tarn at the top.... Boy No 1, Skinny Dipped and Then Ran to the Crest of the hill, only to be met by a RAF Fighter Jet taking a training run close by the hill. What a vision the pilot must have had!

I suppose it’s the land of virtual that sometimes I have become too involved in. I am not talking about the blog here. But when you find yourself discussing your problems with strangers, surely that’s not a good thing. I found myself retreating into a secret other life. It’s taken me a long time to realise that one day your virtual friends are not there anymore. Only real people matter.

I was recently in a bar in Majorca and two people sat there on lap tops all night not speaking to anyone. It’s a strange World.
