How politicians avoid answering questions

An academic has analysed how key politicians in British history have or have not answered questions.

One of the key parts of a politicians job is interviews with the media, but many will say they often don't answer questions.

The study found that in Theresa May’s first interview as Prime Minister with Andrew Marr, she only gave explicit replies to 14% of Marr's questions.

Dr Peter Bull who is a psychologist at the University of York, told BBC 5 live’s Emma Barnett that “a typical political leader will have an average 46% reply rate”.
