Are cat cafés a good idea?
Cat cafés allow customers to enjoy some feline company whilst they eat their cake and sip their teas. The number of cafés opening up around Britain has soared, however some have been critical of them and their potential impact on the cats that live there.
Maggie Roberts, director of veterinary services at Cats Protection believes that the cats can become stressed out if they are handled by too many strangers.
“They are a difficult species to understand and interpret. The people who are running these cafes and the people who attend them, they’re not able to see the signs of stress,” she told 5 live Drive’s Tony Livesey.
“You are forcing interaction that the cat may actually not want.”
