'Grappling at corners is scourge of the modern game'
Former West Ham and England defender Matthew Upson says Premier League referees are right to penalise defenders grappling with opponents at set-pieces.
The weekend's action saw numerous penalties awarded as officials crack down on incidents off the ball.
"I look at all the incidents that have been punished, and I think rightly so", said Upson.
Former Aston Villa and Republic of Ireland captain Andy Townsend added that current behaviour in the penalty area before a set-piece is taken is "a scourge of the modern game".
