The American women who paved the way for Hillary Clinton
If Hillary Clinton is elected into office, she would become the first ever female American President. But what about the women before her who paved the way?
Professor Terri Finneman, author of 'Press Portrayals of Women Politicians', joined 5 live Drive to talk about the women who have previously run for the most important job in US politics.
Professor Finneman said: “We have had so many women in a two hundred year time period who have made this possible for Hillary Clinton today.”
Shirley Chisholm, Victoria Woodhull Martin, Belva Ann Lockwood and Margaret Chase Smith all ran for office during this time.
