Sam Walker takes on the 22 Push-up Challenge
Following on from the Ice Bucket Challenge we now have the 22 Push-up Challenge. It was set up to raise awareness of the 22 US veterans who take their own lives every day because of mental health problems.
Robert Marsh, director of fundraising at Combat Stress joined 5 live Breakfast and put Sam Walker to the challenge. It originated in the United States, and has been gathering a large following with people filming their push-ups for social media and then donating to veteran mental health charities.
Robert said: “Over £10,000 has already been raised, but to put it in context our fundraising team needs to raise £10 million pound a year and 60% of what we do depends on voluntary income.”
