Ex SAS solider: I attempted to overthrow a government
A former SAS solider who turned mercenary after he tried to overthrow the President of Equitorial Guinea, has spoken to 5 live about his unsuccessful coup.
He was arrested in Harare, on his way to Equatorial Guinea, which ended his coup on the African country.
Simon Mann was sentenced to almost 35 years in a Zimbabwe prison, he was then transferred to a prison in Equitorial Guinea.
After five years he was released, when he was offered a plea bargain which involved him giving information about other people involved in the plot.
He told Daily's Adrian Chiles that he was arrested at a request from the South African government.
"They had a change of heart, I still don't know what happened and why."
