Benitez would be ‘perfect’ next manager for Everton
Former Wales midfielder Robbie Savage says former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez would be the ‘perfect’ manager to take over at Everton should Roberto Martinez be dismissed.
Martinez has come under pressure from sections of Everton supporters after a disappointing season while Benitez is currently at Newcastle United.
The Spaniard spent six years at Everton's Merseyside rivals Liverpool, but Savage believes he would be the right man to replace Martinez.
‘The perfect manager for Everton if Martinez does go, and it probably won’t happen, would be Rafa Benitez,’ he said.
‘Yes he’s a legend at Liverpool but if you look at it in the Premier League the top six clubs are taken. The next biggest club is probably Everton with new owners, an influx of money and Benitez still with a house in the area,’ Savage added.
