Charlie Adam: Henderson should have taken penalty
Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has questioned why Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge did not take penalties in Liverpool's Capital One Cup final defeat by Manchester City.
Liverpool lost the penalty shootout 3-1 after Lucas Leiva, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana all missed their spot-kicks.
The Stoke midfielder, who made 37 appearances for Liverpool, was surprised that their captain and star striker did not step up.
"If I'm captain of the club I'm first up. If I'm supposedly England's best striker I'm second up," he said.
"Jordan Henderson is a shy character, so maybe he doesn't feel like he had to step up. But you've got to have the bottle to be able to stand up."
