Lord Dubs: World is 'lonelier' without Sir Nicholas Winton
Lord Dubs, then six-year-old Alf Dubs, was one of the children rescued by Sir Nicholas Winton.
He went on to become a Labour MP, and is now a peer. He described Sir Nicholas as a "modest man" who overcame "enormous obstacles" to organise the rescue of 669 children destined for Nazi concentration camps.
"A lot of us are what they call 'Winton's children' and we felt enormous affection and loyalty and fondness for him... he was a real friend of us and the world is a lonelier place without him".
Sir Nicholas Winton died peacefully in his sleep at Wexham Hospital, Slough at the age of 106.
