
Former foster child: Growing up 'alone' led me to crime
Sam Davey, who grew up in foster care, says the experience led him to become involved in "violent offences".
It comes after a major review was launched today to find out why many children in the youth justice system are in, or have been in care.
Sam said living in numerous foster homes and hostels throughout his childhood left him feeling "alone" and "distant"
Darren Coyne from the Care Leavers Association said: "If you have a young person who's experienced abuse and trauma and you put them in an environment which is strange, and move them from placement to placement...It's easy to see why some young people might choose a path which is not the best option".
