City worker ‘Harry’: I fought IS to 'make a stand'
A British man says he left his city job to fight Islamic State militants in Syria to “make a stand”.
Former financial worker 'Harry, not his real name, said: “I was sitting at my desk watching ISIS rise and I thought, Britain isn’t doing enough.”
He claimed IS militants were “very aggressive” but “very well trained” with “a lot of support” financially from somewhere.
Asked by Nicky Campbell what he made of Britons travelling to join IS fighters in Syria, he said: “I think they’re mad, personally, and they’ve got no excuse."
"They don’t even have to get there before they commit a crime in my book,” he added.
The Home Office has warned people taking part in the conflict in Syria and Iraq could amount to an offence.
