Danny Boyle: ‘There will be a republic in my lifetime’
Producer Danny Boyle thinks there will be a republic within the next 30 years.
“I know it seems difficult to comprehend that now, but it seems a natural logical outcome of the increasing sense of democratisation" He told Afternoon Edition’s Emma Barnett, adding, "I think some of the older, less democratic processes…will inevitably fall by the wayside, the democratic process will be empowered more and more.”
When asked, “So in the next 30 years”? he replied: “I think so yes”.
Danny Boyle was speaking to 5live from the opening of Home, a new centre for international contemporary art, theatre and film in Manchester.
