Shearer: Man Utd wanted to sign me
Former England striker Alan Shearer revealed Manchester United were interested in signing him prior to his move to Blackburn Rovers.
"After talks [with Kenny Dalglish] I went back home and had a call from someone at Manchester United."
"They were interested, they wanted to sign me. I said 'I've promised Kenny I'd give him an answer within two or three days, I intend to do that. I would love to have talks with you,'" added the 44-year-old.
"I never had a phone call back from Manchester United, so it was never an option."
Shearer went on to create a formidable frontline with Chris Sutton, known as the 'SAS'.
Britain's first £5 million player Sutton recalls the night prior to his Blackburn move, which saw him end up in a police cell.
