Mike De Groot is a sample producer who merges hip-hop and jazz to create a retro-yet-contemporary sound then Hereford's Steph Fisher writes her soulful songs over the top to form Red.Soul.

They could be described as sounding like a mash-up of their influences - Amy Winehouse meets Bonobo.

Back in November, BBC Introducing in Hereford & Worcester took over Huw Stephens' show on BBC Radio 1 and Red.Soul were one of the artists we championed.

Song Collecting

Song Collecting
Sam Lee is a 'song collector' trying to salvage the fading tradition of Irish gypsy folk music, many of which have been passed down through the generations but never written down or recorded.

Sam, who's from Weobley (between Leominster and Kington) has been a traveller his whole life - and was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize in 2012.

We've been on the road with him, making musical discoveries, to be featured on his next album.

How To Make It In The Music Industry: The Boomtown Rats

How To Make It In The Music Industry: The Boomtown Rats
We started off the year with a brand new series of 'How To Make It In The Music Industry' with Hereford's Sean Denny, who runs his own record label at Sony Records in London.

This week, we continue to talk you through the whole signing process with a case study that is right on our doorstep.

Gary Roberts is the guitarist and founding member of the Boomtown Rats and lives in Bromyard.

It's taken us three years to persuade him to give away his secrets of how his band attracted the attention of managers, record labels and studio producers.

BBC Introducing in Hereford

BBC Introducing in Hereford
Throughout May, all of our live sessions were performed in the studio - the Studio Theatre at The Courtyard in Hereford, that is!

As well as regular music nights in both there and the Main House, the centre is home to the Music Pool charity and hosts regular Jazz Cafe events in the bar area along with various open mic nights.

The glass-fronted building, on Edgar Street, officially opened in 1998 on the site of its predecessor and before that it used to be a swimming pool!

BBC Introducing at the Wychwood Festival

BBC Introducing at the Wychwood Festival
Once again, at the end of May, we'll be returning to the Wychwood Festival on Cheltenham Racecourse to host a regional BBC Introducing stage along with our colleagues from BBC Local Radio.

We've been given the whole of the Sunday to showcase ten acts from Herefordshire & Worcestershire - which include the four sessions that will transmit throughout June.

As always, we invited musicians who uploaded their tracks to bbc.co.uk/herefordandworcester/introducing.
