Granny's Attic are a teenage folk trio from Worcester, who play a range of English, Irish and Scottish traditional music as well as their own compositions.

They formed in 2009 out of a shared passion for folk music and have recently got through to the national finals of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Band Of The Year competition at the Royal Albert Hall.

Their line-up consists of a melodeon, concertina, acoustic guitar, fiddle and mandolin and have been firm favourites at the Worcester Music Festival and Bromyard Folk in recent years.

SXSW

Kidderminster-based MAS Records has headed over to the SXSW music festival in Texas to showcase Worcestershire music to the American Audience for the 8th year running.

Mighty Atom Smasher is an independent record label and development programme founded in 2001 by Kevyn Gammond, with Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin and Karl Hyde of Underworld as its patrons.

Every year they've released new albums and showcased the Midlands' musical talent to the rest of the world - and this year Lauren Wright has returned to the event after teaming up with Taylor Swift's producer during her last visit to the festival.

BBC Introducing in Ledbury

BBC Introducing in Ledbury
They've got one of the biggest stages in our area - plus a giant cinema-sized screen, making it the perfect place to showcase local musicians!

Ledbury's Market Theatre is run by a team of volunteers, and when we rolled up on Sunday 2 March for our second recording roadshow at this particular venue, Herefordshire's John Challis from Only Fools & Horses had been in the spotlight only the night before.

So throughout the whole of March and spilling into April, we're bringing you the bands and musicians that we recorded at the theatre, along with the massive gathering of festival organisers who turned up to talk about their summer events.
