Year of Decision / three degrees
I was a big fan of the Philadelphia label. They brought some great black artists to prominence in the 70's.
The Three Degrees were one of the acts, but forget their No. 1 hit, year of decision was far superior and a thoroughly jolly wee tune. It was a toss up between that one and TSOP by MFSB (The sound of Philadelphia
by Mother Father Sister Brother , the house band which featured the degrees on vocals.

Badge / Cream
I remember seeing a film years ago, possibly a TV movie which had this song running through it. It was one of the characters fav songs but I'm damned if I can remember what film it was. Googled the song to see if I could find out with no luck although I did discover where the strange title came from.

The Jam are Max B Gold's favourite band of all time. They are also a trio and therefore Max concludes that they fit saquarely into Monday night's theme. This is pukka.

But what song!! Here it is true to say Max B Gold is uncomfortably placed on the horns of a dilemma but after much thought is pleased to request Funeral Pyre or the Townsend written "Disguises" on the flip side of that single.

How was the holiday frank?

For First Class read Ivy League, Flowerpot Men, Edison Lighthouse, White Plains, The Pipkins and the original Brotherhood of Man. All names under which tony Burrows and John carter recorded. I think they also sang backing vocals on several classic 60's hits. they could give Norman cook a run for his hitmaking alter egos.

Oh please no not Jelly Sky. Bryan Burnett played this on the last whistling theme and introduced it as Bryan Ferry's Jealous Guy instead of Roxy Music. He then faced the wrath of RJ who phoned in and corrected the error of his ways before the song was finished and he then publicly apologised to the nation as the song faded out.

If you where going to play a Roxy whistling song it has to be 'A Song For Europe'.

Thats a great fact Glen - I have that CD and alswys been annoyed by the lack of any sleevenotes and I assume not all the songs were actually on his portable jukebox as there are no b sides and the note says it had 40 records yet the CD's have 41 songs. It has got some brilliant music on it and a lot of them I dont know anything about.

Got a busy day or two so for wed...

The best mummy or daddy song by a country mile is Papa was a rolling Stone / Temptations.
Unfortunately to be appreciated in all it's glory the full 12 minute version would have to be played and that's not gonna happen. Four different vocalists all taking the role of siblings questioning their mother as to what happened to their father and each one getting the same answer. The long instrumental passages between verses signifying the time lapse between each kid's questions are brilliantly arranged with instantly recognisable bass line and Hi Hat throughout. It is a stunning piece of music and if you've not heard the full version dig it out, stick on the earphones and appreciate.
