Compared with the violence and chaos to the south, Kurdish Northern Iraq has been a success story.

Its security forces maintain order and its Parliament is pressing for inward investment to boost the economy.

But in the region's Qandil mountains, guerrilla groups representing Turkish and Iranian Kurds have been mounting frequent attacks into Turkey and Iran.

Both neighbouring countries have responded with artillery barrages.

For GLOBAL ACCOUNT, reporter Jenny Cuffe has travelled high into the northern mountains to meet civilian victims of these attacks and to track down the commander of the Iranian Kurd fighting group, PJAK.

While the Iranians claim America is funding PJAK's campaign, she discovers growing concern among some Kurds that Iran is supporting insurgents attacking targets inside Kurdish Iraq.

As the rhetoric between Washington and Iran grows more aggressive, can the Kurdish region of Iraq maintain its fragile stability?
