German Pop: In pictures
10 November 2014
The bold and brilliant pioneers who shaped Germany's 1960s pop art scene are being celebrated in a new exhibition at the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt.
‘German Pop’ brings together 150 artworks and documentary materials from 34 artists. Joining the great Gerhard Richter and Sigmar Polke are Konrad Lueg, Manfred Kuttner, Lothar Fischer and a line-up of less familiar names.
In an era when eyes were focussed on Britain and America, West Germany was evolving its own unique brand of Pop Art. Here is our selection from the show.
German Pop is at the Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt until 8 February 2015.

William Cook discusses how the "neglected artists" of Germany's 1960s pop art movement are belatedly finding the recognition they deserve at the exhibition at Frankfurt’s Schirn Kunsthalle.
