9 stars who never get FOMO about missing a big night out

Stay in or go out? It's a question that has affected all of us at some point and there's never a right answer.
Often we can feel pressured to party with friends even when we'd rather be at home in sweatpants binge-watching boxsets.
FOMO is the topic on The Surgery this week and Gemma Cairney will be discussing the all-too-real fear of missing out with Katie Thisleton, who is sitting in for Dr Radha Modgil.
But some people, like these nine celebrities, have made a conscious decision to walk away from parties, alcohol and peer pressure and escape FOMO all together. We only wish we had their sense of self-control.
1. Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence tells people she's too famous to go out to parties, but that's not quite the truth.
She admits this is her go-to excuse to get out of going out, when all she wants to do is stay in.
"I don’t like going out. I’m a total homebody," she told radio station NPR in 2015.
"I’m always looking for excuses not to go out. I was like, I’m actually probably built for this. I can now use famous as an excuse. I can’t go there. I’m too famous. And I do."
Emma Watson

When she's not hiding feminist novels on the London Underground, Emma Watson won't be found partying and hanging out with other celebs. She's a self-confessed introvert and happy with her choices.
"I’m kind of an introverted kind of person just by nature, it’s not like a conscious choice that I’m making necessarily," she told Rookie magazine in 2013.
"It’s genuinely who I am.
"Coming to realize that about myself was very empowering, because I had felt like there must be something wrong with me, because I don’t want to go out and do what all my friends want to do."
Zayn Malik

You won't find Zayn Malik on the party scene either.
"I don't tend to go out much," Zayn told Dazed magazine in 2016.
"I stick to my own bubble, as it is. Creatively and socially, I think, as I'm getting older, that's just the way I am."
He famously suffers from anxiety issues, which can make social sitations difficult for sufferers.
Alessia Cara

Alessia Cara turned her anxiety issues into a worldwide hit on her single Here, which was written about her negative experiences at a party.
"You could have definitely saw that I was a loner and alienated in the corner," she told The Observer about the party which inspired her hit.
"So at those types of parties or social situations when I don’t know how to act, I am an outsider.
"But in real life, I don’t think I’m an outsider, except that maybe I’m quieter or a little more awkward in social situations."
Calvin Harris

Calvin Harris swapped alcohol for exercise after finding that life as one of the most popular acts in the world was damaging to his health.
"I stopped drinking because it actually was making me ill," he told Newsbeat in 2009. "It was affecting my brain in the worst way."
He has since become a fitness fan and posed in his pants for a modelling campaign for Emporio Armani.
Rihanna

Rihanna has had a reputation of being quite a wild child during her career, but when she was a guest on Alan Carr's Chatty Man TV show in 2013, she told him she was bored of partying.
"I hate partying. I don’t know if it’s my heels – I don’t like standing up in my heels for hours.
"I don’t know if it’s that, but I’ve been so bored of it."
But she insisted she was happier after she calmed things down a little bit.
"I tell you, I’m a bit of a square recently," she added. "Don’t feel bad for me, I’m good!"
Zac Efron

Zac Efron has made a career playing party-boys in films such as Neighbors and Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates, but in real life lives an alcohol free lifestyle.
"I wasn't really being myself. A lot of my hobbies had gone out the window," he told Elle magazine in 2016 about his decision to become sober.
"What I found is structure."
Well, you don't build a body like that on a diet of beer and burgers.
Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis played trouble-making party-goer Lily in Black Swan, but that character is a far cry from the publicity shy, reclusive actress who keeps her private life secret and shuns social media.
She prefers to spend her down-time with husband Ashton Kutcher and growing young family instead of hitting Hollywood's party scene.
"I don’t go out very often," she told Harper's Bazaar in 2013. "I prefer to stay home and have a nice little beverage and watch television."
Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato has spoken openly about her struggles with mental health issues and addiction. She now avoids partying entirely for fear of relapse.
"I had to learn the hard way that I can’t do parties anymore," she told Refinery29 in 2016. "Some people can go out and not be triggered, but that’s not the case for me."
