How do everyone.

Deevs sorry to hear you will be home alone (well not quite with the likkle rascal) tonight but just think of the lovely day you will have on Saturday with ma, step pa and soul mate along with a bbq and alcoholic grape juice.

Just heard from Mr CB he is out of the hospital wadding free and the doctor is happy and told him not to come back for 6 weeks. So fingers crossed his ear is fixed. The doctor did say that the operation did take longer then envisage due to the infection that had built up over the years.

Was driving to work this morning when the bells were a ringing but I didnt have a bell so I shook my charm bracelet that I am wearing do you think it counts.

As for the Olympics, as I said before I work for the main company who has planned, designed and enabled the olympic park. I think it has all sort of been a daily thing for me with notices and videos of how we are doing so this morning when I heard Chris say todays the day, I swelled with pride and realised that I am proud to work for the company who has been involved in so much. It nearly brought a tear to my eye.

Looking forward to the show and who do you think will be the individual who will light the cauldron, I say Lord Coe, guys here say Redgrave, Roger Bannister, the queen, princess Anne, Beckham or Boris. What do you think. Have a lovely Friday everyone.

Loved the show this morning but I'm still baffled why the bells thing was at 08.12 Hrs - surely doing it at 20.12 Hrs this evening would have been more Olympic?

I remember getting the train into London when I lived in Suffolk (traveling from Colchester) and seeing all the derelict warehouses and waste-ground, then it was all bulldozed and cleared and slowly, the Olympic Stadium began to take shape, eventually dwarfing the skyline in Stratford.

I've not been past on the train since returning home from your Bye Bye Drivetime, Hello Breakfast night at the 02, which was the morning of Christmas Eve 2009, but from what I've seen of the site on the tellybox, the contractors and everyone involved have done us proud.

I'm still a little overwhelmed by all the information though. There is such a thing as too much. Really.

CB - thanks. I know I'm being daft but after all the waiting for The Limpix to open, I just feel a bit deflated today. And yes, hopefully we'll have a fantastic weekend with the parentals and maybe even a trip to Worcester on Sunday to watch some cricket (weather permitting). The Royals are playing Essex so maybe the gorgeous Alistair Cook will be playing! :-))

Right, I'm covered in post-dog-walk mud so it's off for a shower then ELH.

Afternoon everyone,

Am so looking forward to this evening, and to watching the Opening Ceremony . Loved the bell ringing at 8.12 this morning, I was driving to work and suddenly Big Ben boomed into the car. So, when I pulled in to the car park at work, I gave a little toot on my horn ....... 3 minutes late but it was the best I could do.

I am hoping the Queen is involved in the lighting of the cauldron, its good to see that it is still a secret so close to the start of proceedings.

I will have a beer, some nibbles and my hankies ready .......

Hello Chris & Everyone.

It must be wonderful to be there at the Olympic Park Chris. I have to admit that living outside London I'm not yet in the mood but I know I will be as soon as the ceremony begins. I am really looking forward to how we Brits sell ourselves to the rest of the world. Like you say the British Army must be up there at the top, together with all the forces and emergency services, the NHS, lots of things we take for granted which a lot of countries aren't lucky enough to have. On the music side surely Gary Barlow songs such as Shine, Greatest Day, etc., The Beatles, the song One Moment In Time must be included. I could go on and on! Oh and we Brits are famous for our love of animals so this must be included.

The final torchbearer could be Boris Johnson as he hasn't run with it so far.

But getting the loop the loop wrong and then crashing inter it... And lighting the cauldron at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gasps from the crowd.... Worry ensues..... THEN in Burst The London Fire Brigade... Blues and twos blurring.... 12 fire engines (all Dennis) back ends sliding out... Dust english mud flying up..... And out they jump.... Ter rescue The Eagle dude....

Or since the UK leads the world in motorsport (a do 'ope they've not overlooked this in the opening ceremony, even though there's no motorsport in the olympics) 'ow about Nigel Mansell scremaing inter the stadium in an F1 car.... A few doughnuts in the car then stepping out with the olympic flame!!!!!!!

As for lighting the flame.... 'ow about Tiger Woods 'itting an 7 ironed golf ball that's on fire inter the olympic cauldron.....

OR the army firing one of the missiles from the top of the flats direct inter the olympic cauldron.... Now that would be a BIG suprise!!!!!!!!!!

Sezza, you devious minx! I like your suggestion BUT ..... Nic works in Redditch which isn't exactly on the doorstep of Cannock, especially given the M6/M5 on a Friday night, also they're starting the party at 4pm (apparently) so by the time I take The Lad to Puppy School (which finishes at 6pm), get home, de-puppy myself and drive to Redditch, lawd only knows what state they'll all be in.

On the plus side, he's texted me to say he'll get a taxi from the station to home so I can at least have a cheeky Friday night snifter whilst he's out partying. I've also decided to go and get a Chinese for 1 after Puppy Class and to hell with the expense!

And who will light the Olympic Couldron? Given recent events, Bradley Wiggins seems like a good idea to me, but he'll have to watch those siddies and the naked flame ....

We're back from Puppy School, and .....

HE PASSED!!!

Beyond all my expectations, the lovable but loopy Randall will be getting a Certificate to say that he's an Elimentary Puppy (or something like that!).

We need to keep up with the training disciplines but I feel that we've turned a corner with him, even if he has eaten half of the interior of my Micra.

I'm really tired after Puppy School, so will join you in spirit at 20.12 by the drinks cabinet. Thanks for today - you're all rather lovely and very special people who've kept me going. I'm now going to switch off the PC and give my eyes a break, saving them for the Limpik opening ceremony. With beer. And noodles.

Isn't this just astonishing? I have been in tears on several occasions. If I could have that lassie sing "Abide With Me" at my funeral, that would do for me! Haven't a clue why we are getting French announcements first - hopefully this will be explained.

We will probably watch another hour of this, but then it will be lights out for us. Will be taping the remainder, and check it out tomorrow. I would love to see the Ceremony through to the end, but it's a typical Friday, I am shattered!

Seeza - Chrissie gave me the heads up about the candle and being a candle fanatic I was happy to join in. I lit my candle on the stroke on 20:12 and raised my glass to Team GB.

Spectacular ceremony loving every minute of it - I have laughed and cried!

Seeza - I have had the pleasure of being in the presence of Beckman and can confirm he is a perfect gentleman, smells gorgeous and has an amazing presence!

I have been up since 04:10 but I am so hyped up by it all I don't feel tired so I will be here until the end - the pink fizz might have something to do with it ;o)

Respect to Danny Boyle, the organisers, the volunteers and the audience for their control of their pixels!

I'm now looking forward to the next 2 weeks of wall to wall sport (honestly, I do like most sports - except cricket and golf which are thankfully not Olympic sports) I hope team GB live up to our expectations, I am wearing my wrist bands and have got my Tshirt to wear on Fridays (we have just gone casual every Friday at work).

morning peeps - wow what a fab show that was last night.
Sorry I couldn't join you on the virtual sofa, I was too transfixed by what I was looking at to move from my spot on our actual sofa!

Thought some of it was a bit surreal but absolutely wonderful.
Loved it that the young sports stars of the future lit the flame - just as it should be.
Although good that Sir Steve had a part in it - delighted that Daley Thompson and Lyn Davies were part of it too.

Chores this morning - just had dippy egg and toast soldiers for brekkie to fortify me.

Tonight Wrexham Community Choir has a concert in St Giles Parish Church, so I will be singing my little heart out - plus I am introducing the 1st song in the 2nd half.
It is an Hawaiian earth blessing called E Malama.

How fabulous to see an upbeat FNOWC. A lovely catch-up read this morning.

Well, WOW, WOW and DOUBLE WOW for last night's opening ceremony. My personal highlights - HRH wiping a tear away as the Choir sang The National Anthem, HRH and James Bond - inspired, Rowan Atkinson, boingy punks, and all the people on Twitter who thought Kenneth "Brunel" Branagh was Abe Lincoln.

All emotions held in check until Sir Paul McCartney sang Hey Jude, and then the tears flowed (and I only had 2 x tinnies last night so it wasn't the ale!)

Every time I hear Hey Jude I think of what was quite possibly one of the best days of my life, ever: me, Bingo, Jovial and Janeybabybeezer in Liverpool, at the mercy of Bingo and his Magical Mystery Tour where we took the Ferry Across The Mersey, danced down Mathew Street and ended up in The Cavern, drinking beer from the bottle (classy!) and singing Hey Jude as loud as our lungs would allow. Up to that point in my life, I had honestly never been happier.

I only hope our Beez was looking down, glass of red in celestial hand, a grinning like a Cheshire Cat!

Let the Games commence.

I've got the Archery on at the mo, from Lords, and it's looking good. I think Nic's company may have had a hand in that one.

Today is mummy BBQ day - I hope she doesn't take too long to cook!

not feeling to bright this morning ,self induced I'm afraid as I was so enjoying the get together at Sezza's that I had just one too many and know have a headache .

And thank sezza it was fab must do it again and so glad that we left it all tidy for you ,by the way who did do the washing up ?? not me as I was busy Smuggling the gorgous Gibbs into my doggy bag bought specially to take him home with me .

I shall be popping out later Sezza so I'll drop him back then ,must say he was a god boy but Ken wasn't so keen when I let him snuggle down between us , and my doesn't he snore and lick. just a pity I have to return him. ;-(

Well I have managed some washing so far this morning and it's on the line ,so now I need to go and put some more out .so have a lovely day all in what ever you're doing and hope that the weather is the same as we have here ,wall to wall blue

And I must go and find a cure for this head of mine 'tis banging

I am glad you all had a good time at Sezza's last night, wish I could have been there but I was watching it with my friend and her two girls (8 and 11).

Can I just echo what the rest of you have said; it was an absolutely fantastic opening ceremony. Quintessentially British and made me very, very, very proud. I have a feeling that my telly will be working overtime over the next two weeks. It's already been on for a couple of hours!

Hi everyone what a fantastic opening ceremony I am so proud to be British. We had to watch it 3 hours after the start and it was full of adverts. I then got my computer back and was able to watch the end of it live on the BBC. I've since watched it back right through and NBC put an interview with Michael phelps on when the tribute to 7/7 was on, I'm absolutely disgusted with their disregard and disrespect for our tragedy. They can stick their distorted coverage where the sun don't shine and I shall thankfully watch it on the beeb?

It was lovely to see so many happy smiling faces from round the world, and how beautiful were all the young athletes?

Just having a very quiet night after what turned out to be a very busy day ,even ate late tonight so am relieved to be sitting down for a while.

We also have a busy day on the cards tomorrow,people coming to dinner ,more or less invited them selves ,didn't see that one coming .

Everywhere seems to be hyper about the Olympics, after last evenings show ,seems that now it's started and the opening ceremony is over and behind us ,its all about sport and medals now. I hope we do well and get a few ,that will be nice for our GB team.

Well just a drink to be had now then I think I shall hit the sack ,seeing as I'm going to be busy tomorrow ,so i'll say night night, and take care all and have a good sunday.

Morning all!
Well had another very busy week and a busy catching up at home chores including shopping for GDs uni accomodation - not sure where she thinks she's going to put it all and I did laugh when she said she needed clothes hangers - that'll be a novelty as she certainly doesnt use them at home!

And what a great FNWC atmosphere - I watched most of the ceremony but gave up about 11 and watched the rest with GD yesterday.

Watched most of the cycling - how disapointing for Mark Cav - seems the rest of the world defo were not playing ball in terms of supporting each other, I'm generally not a massive sports fan but I'm defo getting caught up in the excitement, think the coverage the BBC are providing is amazing - on line and red button. Once again well done the UK!

Right time for a coffee, two dogs to bath and then off to see Batman with GD before a roast later today. Thankfully a quieter couple of work weeks on the cards so I might be around a bit more to join in the fun.

Good morning all.

Just a quick pop in for me ,needing to check a recipe on line ,decided to do Braised moroccan chicken ,with cous cous and rice.not done it before so wish me luck ,and I have a vegan to cater for as well,and they will have the look a like pellets to chicken. and the sun is shining and fingers crossed that we can eat out today ..yeah!!

Maw ,sorry I meat to speak last night ,sorry to see that your suffering empty nest syndrome ,so ill join you in celebrating later tonight and have a tipple in honour of the fab four.and was it If i remember your son is coaching in the olympics ,proud mum eh!!.

I'm right here Bids suspiciously lurking in the background. No I didnt do a Forrest Gump on my scooter and just keep on going lol.

Apologies for not turning up at FNOWC but I had unexpected visitors and also I did'nt want to take my eyes off the tv screen for one minute. Wasn't it all so wonderful, I can't find words to describe it but I feel so proud to be British. We showed the world our great sense of humour with the Queen and Bond and Rowan Atkinson. I watched clips a few times since. Let's hope Team GB get some medals.
