Episode 1
Gaia Pope-Sutherland disappeared on 7 November, 2017. She was never seen alive by her family again. Zara McDermott explores the mystery that surrounds her death.
This episode tells the story of Gaia going missing from her aunt’s house just before sunset on a November evening in 2017. Just before she leaves, she makes a last-minute call to her identical twin sister, Maya, then she runs. She’s alone without a coat, phone or medication for her epilepsy and in a state of high distress. After making several emergency calls to police, Gaia’s family believe that a widespread search for her is underway.
Days later, after hundreds of volunteers have joined the search, Gaia’s body is found deep in undergrowth on Dancing Ledge. She had died of hypothermia.
Zara McDermott wants answers; what or who had she been running from? And could the man that Gaia had briefly been seeing have anything to do with her disappearance?
