Queen Elizabeth II at Pembroke Castle, 1955
On 8 May 1982, Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh visited Pembroke town centre and the town’s castle. Her last visit to the castle was in 1955.
The fortress on the banks of the River Cleddau was the birthplace of the Queen’s ancestor Henry Tudor (Henry VII), 500 years previously.
