A Wychwood Special

A Wychwood Special
This year’s Wychwood Festival is currently underway on Cheltenham Racecourse - and once again BBC Hereford & Worcester is there!

Yesterday we took over the BBC tent and showcased some of our favourite acts in the area right now - including Sasha McVeigh, Virgil & The Accelerators, Olly Gardiner, The Misers, Jasper In The Company Of Others, Boy & Bicycle, Steve Attridge & The Sleeping Giants, Dave Onions and The Stiff Joints.

A variety of these sessions will be broadcast over the next few weeks here on the Introducing show.

In session

In session
Using a love of music, both intense and gentle, Sea of Atoms use an array of instruments to blend their sound.

They say their tunes are created "by an amalgam of catastrophe and careful crafting”.

Despite hailing from both Risbury, near Leominster, and Devon - they record their sounds in various coastal locations such as beach huts, cliff perching yurts, caravans and houses!

  • This week, Danni Hunt announces who we've put forward for our stage at the Reading & Leeds Festivals.
  • Have you ever heard about band's having the 'difficult second album' issue? Well this definitely this isn't a problem for one Bewdley musician who's writing them quicker than the label can publish them! More about that in our local music news.
  • This week sees Leominster's George Barnett playing on the same stage as The Pretty Reckless and Naughty Boy at a festival in Switzerland - but if you fancy seeing our local musicians a bit closer to home we've got plenty of that for you in the gig guide.

BBC Introducing in Leominster

BBC Introducing in Leominster
This month, we returned to the largest town in Herefordshire to showcase some of the amazing talent we have in our area right now.

The Bell Inn, on Leominster's Etnam Street, is a place that is regularly hosting live music at the weekend - so we thought we'd spice up their bank holiday Sunday afternoon by inviting along some of our favourite musicians!

The venue was packed with people who turned out to catch Abby Inez, Myles Gordon, Lucy May Walker and Sea Of Atoms - and if you missed their set, we'll be bringing you the whole lot throughout May.

The Hay Festival

The Hay Festival
The Hay Festival draws to a close tomorrow - and as well as it being a literary event, it’s also played host to a number of acts include Suggs of Madness, Cerys Matthews of Catatonia and Gruff Rhys of the Super Furry Animals.

The programme is organised by Peter Florence and BBC Hereford & Worcester's Andrew Marston interviewed him after attending the event, earlier this week.
