Live music in Herefordshire & Worcestershire

In 2013, we continued to take the show on-the-road to some of the biggest events and most happening places in the two counties.
None of these artists knew they were being considered for these opportunities - they were chosen based on the tracks they sent into the BBC Introducing Uploader.
This week, hear some of the performances we recorded at the Wychwood Festival, the Droitwich Festival, the Nozstock Festival and at Malvern Rocks.
Working in the Music Industry

This week, we meet a fascinating guest from Worcester - whose career in the music industry booking stadium shows for the world's A-list, began after attending gigs at Worcester's Gaumont Theatre.
Anita Ashton Booth, who now lives at Clows Top, recalls watching groups such as The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Engelbert on tour here - while watching local performers like Dave Mason and Jim Capaldi achieve global success.
Her career would eventually take her to London - to LA - and eventually into Hollywood.
Sally Haines' BBC Introducing session

What a stressful year it's been for Kidderminster's Sally Haines.
18 months ago, her family's sheet metal business was doing so well, she landed contracts with Heathrow Airport and Wembley Stadium.
Then the recession hit so hard, Sally had no choice other than to put her parents' company into liquidation.
But musically speaking, the timing was perfect.
Sally always wanted a career as a performer, having trained in the theatre - and now, 12 years later, she's continuing what she once started and is a regular on the Midlands' circuit.
Hear her remarkable story and poignant songs on this week's Introducing show.

Georgina Upton on 1Xtra

What a great year it's been for Kidderminster's Georgina Upton!
When I met up with her at Nozstock during the summer, she said she was thinking about jacking it all in as nobody ever took any notice of her music - then we booked her to play at our area's biggest festival!
Since then, she's been picked up by BBC 1xtra after we submitted her tracks - gaining a playlist place, attracting support from the likes of Twin B, Sarah Jane Crawford, MistaJam, Trevor Nelson, Yasmin Evans, Adele Roberts and DJ Target.

BBC Introducing in Pershore

It was the final town in Worcestershire we'd not visited since we started taking the show out on-the-road in 2001 - so it was time to change all that!
On a cold, dark, autumn Sunday night at the end of November, we rolled up next to Pershore railway station to record at Tower Studios - who've just completed a 48-hour "drumathon" for charity.
The five acts on stage blew us away - so be prepared for some top tunes as we head you through the festive season!

BBC Introducing Musicians' Masterclass

On Thursday 21 March, we visited various locations across the UK - Glasgow, Belfast, London, Salford & Cardiff. DJs from all over BBC Radio, music industry experts and artists got together to host a day of sessions, workshops and masterclasses.
On the guestlist at Maida Vale were Worcester's Shaun Williams, Malvern's 5parks, Bromyard's Tenz, Droitwich's Case Closed and Bewdley's Barbarix.
Invited to Hoddinott Hall in Cardiff were Hereford's Daniel & The Scandals, Kidderminster's Lauren Wright and man-of-many-Worcester-bands Pete Adams.
We covered everything from song writing & MC workshops to promoting your music & making the most of your Twitter accounts.
We also heard from successful artists about their own musical journeys. Our special guests included Ben Howard, Aluna George, Wretch 32, Devlin, Angel, Japanese Popstars, Phil Kieran, Badly Drawn Boy and the Manic Street Preachers.
This week, we take you across to the BBC's studios in Northern Ireland where AlunaGeorge took us on their journey through the 'signing to a record label' process.
BBC Introducing in Hereford

Since 2011, we've been taking the show out on-the-road showcasing the very best musicians from our two counties.
Our next recording session takes place on Sunday 5 January at The Jailhouse in Hereford and features four of the acts we've handpicked for broadcast in 2014.
It's free to get in - and this is your chance to see how we capture live music on tape, while being able to enjoy some of the hottest new acts we've got in our area right now.
None of these acts knew they were being considered for a live session - they were chosen based on the tracks they uploaded to us - which led them to receiving airplay on BBC Hereford & Worcester.
Doors open at 2pm - but you're more than welcome to turn up anytime until 6pm.
