Episode 6

With Rotherham’s Self Esteem, singer and pianist Tom Odell, musical polymath Emma-Jean Thackray, Chicago’s Ezra Furman and psychedelic songstress Greentea Peng. Also, Jools chats with Guy Garvey.

Jools welcomes Rotherham-born singer, songwriter and theatre star Rebecca Lucy Taylor aka Self Esteem, who performs tracks from her top five album A Complicated Woman, described as 'maximalist pop for an age of uncertainty'. Jools also chats to Rebecca at the piano about her ambitions for the future and her recent appearance in the West End musical Cabaret.

Jools also welcomes singer, songwriter and pianist Tom Odell, who performs a couple of songs at the piano taken from A Wonderful Life - an album described as capturing 'both the chaos and the quiet hope of being human.'

From Leeds and now based in south London, producer and musical polymath Emma-Jean Thackray joins the line-up to play two tracks from her album Weirdo, described as a 'grief diary' in the form of 'buoyant jazz-funk steeped in melody, vibrant colour and a sneaky sense of humour'.

Jools also welcomes Ezra Furman from Chicago, known for her rambunctious rock ’n’ roll dynamics and vivid folk storytelling. She performs the single Power of the Moon, taken from her album Goodbye Small Head.

London-based psychedelic R&B songstress Greentea Peng performs her track Stones Throw, taken from her album Tell Dem It’s Sunny - 'her darkest, most existential and most inward-facing record yet'.

Completing the line-up is Elbow frontman and broadcaster Guy Garvey, who chats to Jools about his love of touring, the Glastonbury festival and the cultural impact of Elbow’s hit song One Day Like This. Jools and Guy also perform a treat at the piano.
