In this episode, Dougie reports on the advance of the bluetongue virus and finds out how Scottish scientists are studying midges to assess the risk to livestock. He also visits an egg producer near Turriff that is growing more sustainable chicken feed.
Arlene puts the lawnmower away for No Mow May and discovers the wildflowers that could appear on uncut lawns. Shahbaz is in Angus, meeting the international vet students benefiting from some hands-on work experience on Scottish farms, and wildlife film-maker Libby Penman returns to the Glenlivet Estate to capture the dramatic spring display of lapwing.
