Silver Collection, Dolls, Ballet Costume Designs

Episode 26 of 30

Nigel Havers presides as five sellers aim to get the best price for their items, including some silver, a doll collection, an Andress tool, ballet costume designs and an insurance marker.

Nigel Havers welcomes five more sellers to the Bidding Room, where they try to sell items to professional dealers who are on the lookout for interesting pieces, with help from expert Simon Bower.

The first hopeful today is Anne, with a marvellous silver collection. Collected from here and there, Anne’s silver bits have grown beyond her storage capabilities. With our resident magpie Mel in the room, she would be wise to target her. But with it being such a vast collection, Mel will need to watch out for any other dealers on the hunt for something shiny.

Next in with a different kind of collection is Lorraine. She has gathered a Sindy doll collection since childhood, but finally feels like it's time to let them go. Similar items have gone down a treat in the room in the past, so she could be on to a winner. She is hoping that nostalgia takes over and that the dealers fancy a trip down memory lane.

Third in to Edinburgh HQ is Kevin, with an eclectic selection of metal-detecting finds. He proffers an Andress tool and a penny spoon. Will he manage to detect a frenzy of bids from the dealers, or will the finds prove to be a dud?

Next up is Adrian, hoping his collection will be 'en pointe'. He has brought along some very rare Ian Spurling ballet costume designs. He was gifted them when writing a book but now wants to move them on in the hope of funding a family holiday. Adrian may have his work cut out in the room if he wants the bids to reach the price he's after.

Finally, it’s Alison, with a fire insurance plaque from the days when insurance had only just started. Learning some fascinating information along the way, she is sure to stoke the fire on the bids and sell her item.

The dealers today are JB, Ian, Mel, Jacqui, Viki and Jon.
