Ardingly 9

Rewind to the music of the 90s on today’s Bargain Hunt - a time when Britpop and girl power topped the charts. Today’s teams are all ‘wannabe’ winners as they shop at Ardingly antiques fair.

If you have vinyl from the 1990s in your record collection, then you could be quids in! Christina Trevanion talks indie music and girl power with music specialist and auctioneer Martin Hughes as he takes her for a spin through the decade’s biggest-selling albums and their value at auction.

Today’s ‘wannabe’ winners are the red team, friends Andrew and David, and couple Melina and Phil on the blue team. What they really, really want is to make the most money at auction, with the help of their experts Tim Weeks and Nick Hall.

With hundreds of stalls at Ardingly antiques fair to choose from, the reds soon find a set of industrial-looking lights, but the price is a turn-off. Across the fair, the blues spy some upcycled stools, but they decide to sit on them in favour of another high-value pair of items.

The final stop is in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire, where one of the teams’ items is the star attraction in Tom Baxter’s auction, but will it go supersonic?
