Elkie Brooks - Chat & Full Set

Celebrating her 80th Birthday, Elkie Brooks performs live alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra from BBC Maida Vale studios for Radio 2’s Piano Room Month.

Beginning her professional career at 15, Elkie has been working in the music industry for over six decades now. Having released 20 albums and sold over a million records, it’s fair to say she is the ‘British Queen of Blues’. As Elkie brings her remarkable career to an end, she embarks on her ‘Long Farewell Tour’, with shows across the UK.

Elkie says, “What a way to mark the day, the BBC Concert Orchestra, my fantastic band, making music in the company of great musicians - I couldn’t honestly want for more.”

Back for its fourth year, Radio 2 Piano Room Month sees globally famous, award-winning artists perform three tracks - a new song, one of their well-known numbers, and an unexpected cover version - all accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra.
