The BBC Philharmonic perform Prokofiev and pianist Stephen Hough and friends perform Mozart

Elizabeth Alker showcases the best performances from the UK and beyond, featuring pianist Stephen Hough

Elizabeth Alker showcases the best performances by BBC orchestras, choirs, ensembles, and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe.

Today's Classical Live features more concert recordings by pianist Stephen Hough, including Mozart's Quintet for Piano and Winds. Written 240 years ago, Mozart himself considered this piece 'to be the best thing I have written in my life' and it was even said to have inspired Beethoven to write a similar piece 12 years later in 1792.

Plus Cinderella makes an appearance courtesy of Prokofiev, The Queen of Sheba arrives by way of Handel and guitarist Sean Shibe plays an arrangement of Peter Maxwell Davies' Farewell to Stromness.
