P.A.s cast have Secs Appeal – dynamic young cast to star in BBC Three drama series


Some of the hottest young talent from the UK and Ireland have been cast in P.A.sBBC Three's offbeat new six-part comedy drama.

 

Following the fortunes of four fabulous personal assistants in the city, P.A.s is produced by 2AM TV through BBC Scotland.

 

The series is set against an emotional backdrop of friendship, ambition, sex and filing. The lead roles in P.A.s will be played by Laura Aikman (Dis/Connected, Teenage Kicks) as the beautiful and brainy Lucy; Annabel Scholey (Jane Eyre) as fame-hungry Midge; Ruth Negga (Breakfast On Pluto, Colour Me Kubrick) as intellectual outsider Sid; and Maimie McCoy (Little Devil) as the money-obsessed Nicole.

 

P.A.s also stars Mark Benton (Hughie Green Most Sincerely, Northern Lights); Joe Absolom (EastEnders, Vincent); American actor Robert Gant (Queer As Folk US, Nip/Tuck); Archie Panjabi (A Mighty Heart, Yasmin); Olivia Grant (Larkrise To Candleford, Stardust); Darren Boyd (Saxondale, Smack The Pony); Emily Bruni (Catherine The Great, Miss Marple); and Jamie Davis (The Sarah Jane Adventures, Footballers' Wives), among others.

 

Bringing together many of the elements which make up office life, through the characters of Lucy, Midge, Sid and Nicole P.A.s explores the secrets and lies the women hold, the men they date and work for and the balance of power between them and their highly paid, hugely privileged bosses.

 

Writer and series creator Gabbie Asher (EastEnders) is delighted with the drama's array of talent.

 

She said: "It's so exciting seeing the characters coming to life with such a fabulous cast."

 

P.A.s is produced by Gillian McNeill and filming on the series starts in mid-June in Scotland. The drama is scheduled to transmit on BBC Three in 2008/09.

 

P.A.s forms part of BBC Three Controller Danny Cohen's ambition to develop a strong supply of innovative and original drama for the channel.

 

The drama continues in the footsteps of distinctive productions from BBC Scotland including Hope Springs (Shed Productions, BBC One), Fiona's Story (BBC One), Wallander (Left Bank Films, BBC One), Purves & Pekkala (Pirate Productions, BBC One), God On Trial (Hat Trick Productions, BBC Two); and Phoo Action (BBC Three).

 

P.A.s is a 2AM TV production through BBC Scotland for BBC Three and is commissioned by Jane Tranter, Controller, Fiction.

 

BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, has acquired global distribution rights for the series.
