BBC Children in Need Appeal 2006 – make it count!

Introduction

Girls Aloud, All Saints, Take That and Emma Bunton; the casts of Holby City, The Bill, Bad Girls, and Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps; the stars of Strictly Come Dancing; Kim and Aggie; Richard Fleeshman; and many more stars join Terry Wogan, Natasha Kaplinsky and Fearne Cotton for the 27th BBC Children in Need Appeal.

BBC Children in Need is back on BBC One this November for one of the most popular nights on British television.

The BBC is throwing open its doors across the UK in the seven hour appeal extravaganza that boasts the biggest stars of television, music and the West End.

Terry Wogan is once again joined by the fabulous Natasha Kaplinsky and Fearne Cotton to host a live show that brings together the familiar with the unexpected for a night of fun.

And, of course, every penny raised on the night goes directly to children and young people in need across the UK.

And this year, BBC Three has a whole fortnight of brand new show Celebrity Scissorhands which is the latest way to raise money for BBC Children in Need... more on that later.

The BBC Children in Need Appeal Night

Friday 17 November at 7.00pm on

BBC One

There will be dancing in the aisles as Emma Bunton gives a dazzling performance of Downtown, the official BBC Children in Need single, along with her dancing friends from Strictly Come Dancing.

There is a festival-full of other top music acts performing on the night including: Girls Aloud, Take That, All Saints, Lemar, Sugababes, James Morrison, McFly, Ronan Keating and David Cassidy.

BBC stars including the casts of Holby City and Two Pints of Lager and the ever-daring BBC Newsreaders will be showing themselves in an entirely unexpected light.

From the soaps, we're joined by heart-throbs and Coronation Street stars Richard Fleeshman and Bradley Walsh each performing one of their favourite songs.

The cast of Hollyoaks will also be in the studio for a musical performance.

Kim and Aggie hit the road with legendary rockers Status Quo and ask How Clean is Your Tourbus?

To top it all, there're also plenty of treats in store for fans of the West End as the casts of the hottest shows perform one of their show-stopping numbers.

Stars from Dirty Dancing, Avenue Q, Evita and Wicked will all be there so standing ovations will need to be at the ready.

And the presenters are all getting excited about the night.

Terry Wogan says: "Natasha, Fearne and I look forward to you joining us from 7pm for another blockbuster, no-holds-barred, money-raising jamboree for Children in Need."

Natasha Kaplinsky says: "Children in Need is one of the highlights of my year and I'm thrilled to be part of the presenting line-up. I am always so amazed at how much money is raised - let's hope this year we'll raise even more money than before.

"I will also be joining my newsroom colleagues for our traditional ritual humiliation song and dance extravaganza on the night."

Fearne Cotton says: "It's great to be involved with BBC Children in Need once again. I had a fantastic time last year and I'm really looking forward to the night again.

"There's a brilliant line-up of guests this year to keep everyone entertained. I urge everyone to get involved and raise money so we reach an even bigger total this year for the children around the UK that really need it."
