How do I use parental controls on Sky, Virgin TiVo, YouView or Apple TV?

Sky

  • Sky On Demand
    Sky uses its own parental controls for their on demand catch-up service, so you'll need to contact them if you have an issue with the lock when watching BBC programmes on their service: Sky support.
     
  • BBC iPlayer app via Sky

Virgin TiVo

  1. Open BBC iPlayer
  2. Go to Settings
  3. On your remote, press the right arrow three times, then the left arrow three times
  4. You'll see the option to Clear Parental Guidance Password
  5. Press OK

YouView

YouView uses its own parental controls for every service they provide including BBC iPlayer, which means you'll need to contact them if you have an issue with the lock when using BBC iPlayer on their service: YouView support.

Apple TV

  1. Go to Settings on your Apple TV
  2. Click General, then Restrictions
  3. Set Restrictions to On
  4. Enter and confirm a four-digit passcode
  5. Under TV Shows > Restrict TV, select the relevant setting for you
