Welsh songstress Cerys Matthews has added another string to her creative bow as she has penned a new children's book.

Tales From The Deep retells two ancient Welsh legends, Cantre'r Gwaelod and The Maid of Llyn y Fan, in a picture book format and will be published by Pont Books, a branch of Gomer Press, in May.

Matthews was inspired to produce her début book after seeing illustrations of the legends by Fran Evans, an author and illustrator from Pembrokeshire.

The BBC 6 Music presenter is also set to release her latest solo album in May, and will embark on a tour to promote it.
